Alison bloodied the Tapestry, but has she defeated them?
With her foes operating under the radar, Alison thinks she has time for reviewing pet parks and PR jobs, but when the mysterious magic-enhancing drug Ultimate arrives in Seattle, she is faced with a shocking conspiracy that might reach from Las Vegas to Seattle. Sadistic wizards willing to experiment are flocking to town, including a mysterious and lethal woman testing a newer, purer form of Ultimate with no consideration of the human costs.
Dark experiments generate vicious whispers.
Alison’s informant Vincent has been acting sketchy – even more so than usual. Alison’s investigations now force her into risking herself and her people to protect a man she doesn’t even like, but in a city like Seattle, embracing some of the gray is necessary for the greater good.
Ultimate is changing men into monsters. Alison will need the help of the PDA before Seattle is overrun with twisted creatures.
Will Alison be able to fend off the converging conspiracies and solve the mystery of Ultimate before it’s too late?
Judith Berens is a figment of your imagination, made up of the fevered brainpower of Michael Anderle and Martha Carr, fueled by a lot of people helping them out - as well as all of you, The Fans. Great stories mixed with a lot of great readers equals more adventures to follow.
Things are getting crazy... Alison needs to really get her head in the game, oh and protect Vincent, an informer. Mason is so goddam frustrating and boring, he argues about protecting Vincent yet Vincent has helped them out multiple times. The 2nd half this series seems to drag even with the consistent action.
Alison is just starting to settle down after the previous disasters, and fights, that she, and the people of the Brownstone Security Services, had to cope with.
In fact Ava, her indispensable, and very British, executive assistant, has got them an easy job, for a change - one where her team ends up guarding a boat, that is escorting some magical Shimmer Rays, away from the dangers of poachers, to journey to their safer, and more secure, home.
But it's no surprise to Alison when things go wrong!
Then Alison and her friends are barely back from their sea-going adventures, when Sonya, the teen she and her friends had unofficially adopted, and made a part of their family, asks for help.
It seems that, her father, Clayton, wasn't as dead as she'd thought he was!
They had no sooner sorted out the problem of Clayton, when Alison's sometime informer, Vincent, actually turns up at her office, for the first time, terrified because of someone from his past appearing, and threatening his life.
It's while Alison is helping Vincent out, that a new, magical, drug, called Ultimate, starts appearing on the Seattle scene.
This drug had first appeared in. LA, but James Brownstone had soon sorted that out but, now, it was affecting Magical in a way that had Alison almost fighting for her life.
As things start getting ever worse for Alison and her Team, there are more indications that the Tapestry was involved, somehow, and that this is just the start of a hard won war against the drug, and the people behind the scenes, wielding it.
But Alison gets a surprise when the Dark Drow Princess, Rasila, arrives, in the nick of time, with another Drow, Miar, Princess of the Soul Shadow.
Not only do the two Drow Princesses help Alison, but they have an offer of help that she will find very hard to refuse!
As usual, this book was full of adventure, excitement, and plenty of the explosions that I've come to expect from this series, and these authors.
I'm really loving the character development, especially with Alison! I no sooner think that she has no more to show me, when something else happens to surprise me.
So, after I've slept - as usual, I've read on until silly o'clock - I'm going to go straight on to book number twelve of this series: 'Rise Up', and find out some more about the exciting events that ended this book - I'll say no spoilers, here, so grab these books yourselves, to find out, as it's well worth the read!
So, once I've read this next adventure, I'll catch you on the flip side, and I'll let you know what I think of the next book in this great series!
Another Alison Brownstone tale so good I read it so late into the night (morning) that my eyes are watering so much it's like trying to read though a window in a rainstorm. I almost wish these books were less pleasing so I could get more sleep - nah! Who am I kidding. Another 5 star read
A well thought out plot and characters that are as unquestionable filled out combined to make quality reading. The story has progressed in such a manner that you are drawn into Allison's world.
WOW, very, very intriguing. Who or what are The Tapestry! There is still no complete answer on this, even with the beat down by Alison Brownstone. Hopefully the next book gives more insight.
About 100 pages of decent story surrounding by at least as much boring fluff, including but not limited to Alison and her opponents monologuing prior to a fight, and useless pages of a boring attempt at a love life
Nice installment in the Allison story line. We and up with a bit more knowledge than our friends at Brownstone Security have about The Tapestry, a minor shift in Drow politics, an angry teenager and relationship developments developments all round. I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
I managed to read this book after the one that proceeds it. Not sure how that happened but it did. This book gave me some information that I was missing but overall I found it a bit lacking. One thing I do not understand not agree with is the fact that Allison must pay for damages. Half the time what she is doing is for the government who pretends to ignore it and most of the time it's not her fault. The criminals are the ones at fault. But that's how they were chosen to be written. Like I'm So good I won't harm anyone and pay for everything so I can be considered awesome. Finally the overseer was revealed! Score! Nice proposal but really was expecting it to be at the sushi place so kind of disappointed.
Once again I loved this book, Alison and her loyal friends are trying to figure out why the tapestry want Hanas multi pet from a dog to a cat to a bird what will Omni be tomorrow and why are they willing to kill in order to capture him? Strange men in suits are causing immense problems for the team, Will they be able to stop them or will it be too late? Join The Brownstone team and follow their defending of Seattle, but first meet Alison in the school of necessary magic and follow her journey as she starts at a school for magic people to now you won’t regret it!
They just keep coming and Alison rises to meet them
Alison tackles some old enemies with new capabilities. He team faces challenged that stretch them into growing stronger. Another exciting chapter in the life of the adopted daughter of James and Shah Brownstone. Her Drow heritage comes into play with a new princess coming forward. What that means for her remains to be seen. Always entertaining to read this series.
The True Cores are dangerous and are like a black rot: insidious, unpredictable, and dangerous. Alison and her team have to make new alliances and dig to find the truth. Another exciting, funny, and entertaining instalment in Alison’s story.
Each story has me fall in love a little more with Alison and the other characters. An amazing series!
Lots of action, adventure, danger, enemies and fights. Trusting others and understanding their situation. Having your friends back and backing them always. Will they ever find out more info about the Tapestry?
Alison is trying to protect her city and her loved ones. Obstacles like the Tapestry and magical experimenters get in the way. I like the action, humor, and romance. How will she deal with Drow royalty? I look forward to the next book.
Why is it that we always looking for more showdown of the strongest, whether it is WWF or some Drow princess battle royale? No matter, just bring more of it!
