"Great to find an author I haven't read before who can keep me reading all day."  - Amazon Reviewer, Mrs L.

KNIFE & DEATH - BOOK 1

When detective James Hardy learns the body of a young woman discovered in the River Thames is that of a friend, his life goes into a tail-spin.

Anya, the victim’s flatmate, is on the run for her life. She could be the key to catching the killer. In a race against time, Hardy must track down Anya, before the killer does.

As the truth behind the investigation unfolds, Hardy’s own family come under threat. With two young daughters to protect and an investigation that twists and turns, Hardy finds himself pushed to the limit.

WALK IN THE PARK - BOOK 2 (Short Thriller)

When a close friend of Hardy’s is murdered the detective questions whether taking the law into his own hands could ever be justified. Shaken and heartbroken, Hardy assists the team leading the investigation into a killer dubbed, the Regent's Park Ripper.

In a nail-biting, fast-paced investigation, Hardy will challenge his own, very personal need for revenge, when he finds himself face-to-face with the suspect in a deadly confrontation.

ANGELS - BOOK 3

The press has dubbed him the ‘Angel Killer’. This killer is anything but an Angel, he's a brutal psychopath who's coming after Hardy and his family.

Detective James Hardy is trying to balance his job as a homicide detective, with being a good dad to his two young daughters, who’ve recently lost their mother. Whilst dealing with his own grief, and on the brink of a decision that'll improve all their lives for the better, Hardy must put personal matters on hold as he races to identify the Angel Killer.

In an emotionally charged and intense investigation, full of twists and turns, Hardy must give more of himself than ever before to stop an increasingly desperate killer.

HARD TRUTH - BOOK 4

James Hardy’s new-found peace is rocked when Kelly Lyle ‘the Mentor’ returns. During her bloody campaign of murder, she rips apart the detective’s new life and reveals a secret that shatters everything Hardy believed to be true about his wife’s death.

Jay Gill was born in Poole, Dorset, United Kingdom. At aged 18, Jay moved to London where he worked in the printing industry, specialising in pharmaceutical leaflets and packaging. After years of commuting and working in this fast-paced environment, Jay moved back to Dorset with his family to enjoy the slower pace of life on the south coast. It was at this point that he carved out time to develop the detective thrillers that had been rattling around inside his head.

He lives with his wife and two daughters on the south coast of England, and though he loved the twenty-something years he spent in and around London, and the home counties, he feels settled and at peace in his native Dorset.

Box set bonus

I read the first in the series in 2 days and this box set in 5 days. The storyline is brilliant and the characters believable. Without spoiling the plot I can say that Dci Hardy will definitely sort out the real perpetrator of the crimes being committed. He has a really good reason now to carry on coming out of semi retirement to assist his new partner,Emma, to solve these horrendous crimes. Can't wait for Inferno to come out!!

Light reading.

If I hadn't got the box set I probably wouldn't have read the second book. If you want police procedure, characters with depth and gritty realism, this is probably not for you. That said there is a certain naive charm to the writing and the descriptions of violence are intense . I would rate these as Sunday afternoon books as I had no difficulty putting them down.

Worth following

Although it seems everybody is terribly terribly so middle class the actual stories are good. Would have been nice if the detectives were grittier. They also sounded as though they'd just got back from a spot of shopping at John lewis and were a bit miffed to find out they'd been wrongly charge. Very sketchy characters not filled out. I'll read the next books because they do pass the time, are easy reads and don't need at deep thinking.

James Hardy books 1-4

Excellent reads following the career of Scotland Yard’s James Hardy. Horrendous cases, gruesome murders, relocation and family crisis all blend to captivate the reader. A new favourite.

Recommend

The books were a bit too full of blood and gore for me but were balanced by the happy family life of the detective Hardy. The plots were well drawn with twists and turns.
