Born in 1899 in Leicester, British children's author Amy Elizabeth Seymour published her first short story at the age of fifteen, in the Leicester Pioneer. She was educated at Branson's Business College, and was typist for the Leciester Town Clerk's Office, becoming their first woman clerk. In 1920 she married A.W. Webster, who adopted her maiden name for his own writing for boys, publishing as "A.W. Seymour." Amy E. Seymour Webster died in 1988.
