Perilous Miles #3

200 Miles To Liberty

Rate this book
An EMP attack by North Korea has left most of the United States dark, cold, and in chaos.

Major Damon Sorley is on a mission to bring the president-elect to Washington as quickly as possible. The road is full of peril, as people realize this won't be fixed anytime soon. But he's not alone. He and his fellow soldiers will have to make some tough decisions. Their lives will depend on it.

Having lived in blissful ignorance of the darker side of human nature, the Marshalls and Chandlers are finding out quickly that no place is safe from the desperation of those who find themselves ill-prepared to face their new reality. They must learn new skill sets if they are to survive -- whether they want to or not.

Can a tyrannical president be stopped? Will people who have never had to defend themselves be able to learn how in time?

Enjoyable!

A good follow up in this series. Realistic storyline and great characters make this a enjoyable book. Hope book 5 comes out quick.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series. However, the first book was a short introduction to the series rather than a full book in the series. Yet it encouraged me to continue following the story. And I have to say, Carly never really developed, I can imagine the frustration of adjusting to the life left after the attack and loss of all power, I would imagine I too would have a major meltdown. But as a single intellegent mother of three boys, I would not act like a child having a temper tamper, and being totally clueless to the world around me. Nor would her character, as she was laid out to us. Carly definitely needs to be included in the series, but the character needed to melt down, adult style. And all the books would have been given a full 5 stars, however, the last book did not end the story. Author has stated she was working on the next more complex book in the series, but has not followed through after 2 years, leaving readers hanging. I cannot bring myself to read any of this authors other books, as I do not wish to invest my time in a series that has no ending

Could this story bean example of a real event too? Great story!

I found your ebook to be an unusually exciting story that just might give your readers some ideas of what our futures could come to because of certain evil minded people on our planet Earth. Great job of making in an easy to free was story P.A..
The owe people who love these typesonpfexcitingdqys that could actually happen if not wlready-= Covid-19 has probably come very close to an EMP as well as the fact that our previous USA President has not been much better at his task this year of 2020.
This makes this ebook so surreal with your story at this point of time. For these reasons, this is why I felt this could be rated at least as a 4**** ebook fantasy-Si-Fi adventure ebook, great job!

I hope this wasn’t the end

Carly just absolutely annoys me, on so many levels. Her family is so much more patient with her than I’m certain I’d be. Aaron is days away from turning 18 and she’s treating him and 14yo Cameron like toddlers.

That final scene leads me to believe that there is another book and I’m all honestly I truly hope there is because I’m super interested in knowing more about the new guy Devon and what the government is gonna do…

Also Lexi is a definite favourite!

Great book, great story. Concise, well written, believable. I liked the fact that these were ordinary people like most of us and not preppers. Many simple ideas that any of us can do.

Precious Liberty

Who knows the real cost of the journey to liberty, within the White House, the perilous trip to deliver a valuable package or the individual citizens struggling on their own?

Need More. MUCH MORE!

Somebody needs to slap Carly really hard. What a whimp!!
I'd kick her out of ANY group I was in. I hated her character early on.
Anyway, any plans for a fourth book?

Scanned over many parts.

I've read other books like this, although interesting it also got boring, when going through different survival techniqes. I scanned over many pages.

When I found the series I read the four books in two days. I would have enjoyed books 3 and 4 a little more if I hadn't read them back to back. I think the author writes well and the scenario seems possible. We just have to look at disasters in this century alone and see where people go crazy trying to survive. There are looters, robbers, murderers right now, they don't just disappear because there is an apocalyptic event.

There are wise and unwise people in all positions, from the poor to the rich, from liberal to non-liberal, from healthy to ill, from .....etc.

We have been moving away from self-supporting since the industrial revolution and far to few are prepared for a world without electricity. The Red Cross website lists contents needed in a short term survival kit. Search the web for prepper 101 to get an idea of what might be required for a longer period of time.

I also believe there will be people like Carly - although it seemed a little unrealistic for someone who faced being a single mom, going to school, multiple jobs to survive being that self centered.

I look forward to, hopefully, book five. I would like to see more about techniques to survive, including drugs found in nature, planting ideas, multiple ways to purify water, starting fires, etc. Everyday things just to survive. A good read.

This was a very good book. The family group now has to confront what it takes to survive and the government group now has to deal with a bad apple and try to get to a position of being able to rebuild (and I overlooked the silly insinuation that liberals are trying to gut the second amendment). As with her other books, this author is a very good writer, no real editing errors and smooth flow to the story and the dialogue. Carly is a mess and I cheered (out loud) when she got some truth from Amanda. While she toned it down a bit, Carly is still not someone with whom I would want to spend the apocalypse. Joel, Elliot and Amanda are the strongest characters and I have to like Ethan on his redemption arc (and have a bit of sympathy for him since he was married to Carly). I like the government story line as well and the plot that an amoral president might have nefarious designs to hold and increase his power is a little too real right now.
And for Ms Glaspy: Congratulations on the significant changes you made in your life to improve your health and well-being. Well done and Respect!

Another winner!

Patti has done it again! She is a talented writer for sure. I personally know that she has done alot this last year... for herself and for me! As she mentioned in her closing comments, she made a decision to take her life back and get healthy. Her journey inspired me and I contacted her through her FB page and was introduced to Optavia. I have personally lost roughly 30 lbs myself. I'm seeing all kinds of benefits. I really look forward to Book 5 and any future books. Definitely another DD12 winner!

Slow going

While I can't say that any of the books were fast paced, this one just seemed particularly slower. With sensible heads prevailing and the mission successfully completed, DC has a long load to recovery. The response, if any, from the international community remains to be seen.
Carly is beyond annoying and is dealt with...finally! Loss is inevitable and this group isn't spared. Although I have to wonder if it wasn't a small blessing compared to the alternative. New allies may have been found but only 2 of the 3 are trustworthy.

What can I say?

Was quite a wait for this book but you know the old saying....good things come to those who wait. As usual Glaspy doesn’t fail. Book four about the events of an EMP is well worth the wait. Follow Carly, single mother of two boys and her extended family as they continue to strive to survive. Also addressed is how the President, upper government officials, military response to this. My only complaint is having to wait for the next one. One of my absolutely favorite authors!

Whew....that was exciting. I am ready for Book 5.

The continuing saga.....The book is well before I talk about the book, I hate -- no HATE Carly. She is rude, obnoxious and she screams so much. Isn't it time to kill her off?

The book. Loving the series (except for the above). Fast paced. Enjoyable read. Interesting to read how fast people can acclimate to their situation.

My heart hurt and I cried at the end. I don't care what Carlyle says. I like Ethan.

Exciting road trip! Fantastic fourth installment in the Perilous Miles series! Another well written tale with some amazing characters that give you a glimpse into how individuals can rally, or disintegrate when times get tough. My only complaints with this series is that I want more, and can't get the song "500 Miles" out of my head!

Best one yet!

I think this is the best one yet. Loads of action and great characters will have you on the edge of your seat. Well worth the time to read it. Only problem I see is having to wait for the next one.

Have read all of the Perilous Miles books but this one was not my favorite. Didn't see why Carly had to be made such a b. Detracted from the story. Hope she is able to finish up the story in the next one. Will be looking for it.

To borrow a phrase, dabnamit Patti! Great action, plot and characters. This book really shows your talent with the written story. The characters merge the lives of in-laws, outlaws and family with great skill. Looking forward to the next installment.

Fast paced.

I enjoyed this installment. It was written with a realistic imagination. I think our politicians would act like this president did, out for themselves. Will be waiting for the next book.
