Furry United Coalition #8

Panda and the Kitty

Rate this book
The FUC gang is back in a brand new adventure.

What sort of mom injects her son with a dangerous serum?

The kind that has no problem abandoning her family to become a supervillain determined to take over the world.

As if Jakob doesn’t have enough problems dealing with his mother, he goes from being a TKO kanga to a roly-poly panda. Which isn’t as cute as it sounds. His new body doesn’t work the same as his old one. He’s a stranger in his own fur. How is he supposed to kick some butt if he can’t even throw a good punch?

He needs help, and the only person he can trust to help him is his ex-girlfriend, Maisy. He never forgot her, and seeing her again only fans the flames of his passion.

But she’s not ready to forgive. Or forget.

Totally understandable because he can’t promise he won’t run off and do something stupid. He is, after all, a Jones boy, and Dumbass is their middle name.

Can a mixed-up man make a proud kitty love him again?

~ New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .

I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.

* You need to have read the previous entries in this series.

Jacob and his family recently found out his mother is not only not dead, but she's also an evil mastermind with the nickname Mother Q. Though, mother is a title she doesn't really deserve. Because she just injected Jacob with a dangerous serum that not only snuffed out his deadly kangaroo-shifter side, but it turned him into a huge, mega cute panda bear. He needs help and the only one he can turn to is his ex- girlfriend Maisy.

Pro's:
+ The author managed to pack a lot of action in 168 pages, damn. There are kidnapping, attempts at kidnappings, raidings, escapes and volent fights, all in under 200 pages. still the auther made everything in a nice story with enough context to make everything come together really nicely.
+ Peach is such a cute character! She is, even after reading the entire novel, still quite a mysterious character. She has some weird ESP talents and her history is all ver shady. I hope we get to know more about her in the books to come, as I'm sure Eve is already working on some additional novels.

Con's:
- There is never any real depth in this story. There happens so much, that all the true meaning of the feelings, the budding romance and the spark between the characters is just completly lost in between all of it. Therefore I didn't feel connected at all to these characters and that is very much a shame. This story has a lot of potential and I'm afraid that none of it actually happened.

I looked forward to the next entry in this series, but I'm afraid I was quite disappointed after reading this story, It felt incredibly flat, with a couple of sparks of good. I'm usually all for actionpacked, tons of violence ect, but this felt so flat. For a book there was not a lot of story ( Ironic yes) and therefore I have quite a lot of trouble recommending this. If you have read the series, yes, go for it, but if you have doubts you won't miss a lot when you don't read this.

It struggled for that 3, much as I struggled to even get into it.

Our H/h, both shifters, and apparently mates, met way too young I think. He had family obligations, and she had the understanding of a gnat. She spent way too much time dwelling on his "letting her down" when she knew the family he was from to start with so what exactly did she expect him to do?

He took up drinking apparently because of this and was a nasty drunk. Enter mommy dearest who flat out tells him she has no feelings for her family, then disappears him for over 3 months where she experiments on him, then dumps him at the family compound. He eventually leaves and disappears for a bit, then after an apparent arrest attempt, finds himself shifting into a completely different animal.

Things that bug me... ah...most of the book? Nobody stopping to think maybe he had a tracker on him courtesy of his "loving" mother? Nobody ever stopping to consider the orphan might have come from the lab? Really, she could hide her scent. The h's attitude towards the H. The fact that we get a second round of some evil person experimenting on shifters. The lack of any real humor...

I didn't like this one as much as other books in the series. The couple storyline was really on the back burner in this book. I also don't usually like second-chance romances with long separations because I prefer books where the H and h are completely faithful after meeting so that dulled my enjoyment a bit, especially since the reason behind their breakup seemed blown way out of proportion on her part. Yes, he did something that would affect their relationship and didn't explain it very well, but he still loved her and fully planned on being with her and had no intentions of breaking up with her at any point. She was the one that gave him the ultimatum and broke up with him at a difficult moment in his life and then she had all of the bitterness and kept saying how he broke her heart when she ended the relationship. And even after he did explain why he did it and couldn't tell her before she was not swayed at all. She also kept saying she was afraid he would leave her again if she let him in their lives, but again he didn't leave her the first time; she dumped him, essentially telling him not to come back to her. I know these sort of details aren't usually as important for the enjoyment of the reader in these short books, but they just all added up to make Maisy seem not-so-likeable to me and Jakob seem super depressed.

Peach stole the story

It's like Peach had a six sense. Gotta love her. Love Maze and Jakob's story. But then again I knew I would when they appeared in his brother's story. Maze is a feisty panther but she is a nonviolent pacifist. She's a vet and made a vow to save lives. Had her heart broken by her only love Jakob who left but actually she dumped him when he joined the Council with his brother's to fight a war. Jakob always loved Maisy but he had no choice to join the Council to save his uncle. She thought he chose his family over her which he did technically but he should have just told her the truth and knew she would not have told his secret. Now he came back because him mum changed him from a kick azz kangaroo to a cute a cuddling panda. I don't know who said they were cute and cuddly. They look it but then bears are dangerous and badazz in their own rights. They go to my favourite place in the world and meet some of my favorites people and learn to become one with themselves and save the world....Who let Miranda and Chase loose...eat h out now...But one question? Who's the mole?

Fast paced and hilarious

I absolutely love this series! Jakob and his family are a wild, out of control, hilarious bunch of shifters who ALWAYS have each other’s backs. Maisy has been loved and hurt by Jakob before, and is unsure if she’s willing to risk herself and her daughter again. I generally love the characters this author creates, but I had a hard time liking Maisy. She knew how Jakob’s mother was, but was still upset by Jakob’s family loyalty. In the end, the couple was able to come together and create the ending they deserved. I hope there’s another story in this world!

This had all the craziness and wildness we’ve come to expect from a FUC book, but it also had a lot of heart as well. Dealing with crazy relatives, wild bad guys, scary smart toddlers, and the love you let go would have been enough for our hero, but his certifiable mom gave him even more issues. People out to get you, protecting yourself at every turn, and falling in love, again, well still, so really convincing the woman you love to give you another chance, keeps this book running on action. Also, any book where Chase and Miranda play an important part, well, that makes it the best book ever!

What's a kanga to do when he loses his roo?

I love this series. It's got danger, laughter, and love. This is Jakob and Maisy's story. Poor Jakob his mother left them when they where little then she shows up trying to take over the world. She's kidnapped Jakob and lol his Roo and gave him a panda. Maisy has had her heart broken by Jakob before, so when he shows up on her doorstep being for help she can't turn him away but she doesn't have to like him. When Jakob's mother comes for him they'll have to work together to bring that crazy down.

Yaaassss... a new FUC book!

Right when you think she's done it all, Eve gives us a kangaroo turned Panda who doesn't know something's wrong till he starts eating bamboo furniture while out shopping 🤣

I loved hwo Maisy and Jakob had a history, and had issues they had to figure out, but no matter what they were both ready to help each other. The appearances by other FUC agents and other Jones brothers/uncles made this book great, but Maisy's family was such a bonus! This book was altogether filled with great characters, plot, and romance!

Panda and the Kitty

This was another great book in the FUC United Coalition series. This author has one of the funniest, wierdest, and craziest imagination I have ever seen, at it is that that makes all of her books so exciting and fun to read. She never disappoints her readers. I absolutely loved it.

Enjoyed

I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s a great HEA. Even though it’s part of series, she did a great job of making it a good stand alone story. Though I will say, having read the series makes it so much more entertaining and funny!

Absolutely Hilarious

I laugh so hard every time I read another FUC story!
The puns are spot on.
Each new story adds more characters to the FUC universe, ensuring it to continue for a long time.

This story is another great addition to this
series. This world has memorable charters and characteristics that make it easy to slide in and out of the world not matter the time lapse between story releases!

I love this author, her stories always have fun characters, lots of laughs, and some steam. This book is my first in the FUC universe and I have been missing out. The evil mastermind was a great villain. Lived the characters and story. I have to go back and read more.

Good story

Cute story. But to have a mother who does not care for you and does bad things to you is really bad. Love can last a long time and be waiting for your return.

Aside from the acronym “humour”, it’s not bad. I like the main characters and it was nice to see some of the ones from the earlier stories.

Do NOT listen to the audiobook version of this!!! It is awful! This book was not Eve's best in the series. I love her and the series! I've read most of them. So I was going to give it 3 stars on the writing alone.
However I could not stand the terrible accents from the audio version. It was so bad that it detracted from this book. They would change the same character's accents midsentence. Posh English vs some weird London/ cockney-esque combo vs Australian vs ??? My local library only had the audiobook version. 😢
