No me ha gustado mucho. A ver, la parte final mejora mucho, pero creo que es una novela que no ha pasado la prueba del tiempo.
La trama la he leído más de una vez, es poco original y se hace demasiado previsible. Esas jóvenes secuestradas tan tan tan valientes que no pueden evitar sentir ese deseo por sus secuestradores no van conmigo, por muy bien que las traten.
Algunas frases, ciertas palabras o algunas escenas no me gusta encontrarlas en la novela romántica.
Es una novela que puede gustar, reúne muchos requisitos... misterio, protagonistas valientes, malos y buenos... pero su falta de sorpresa ha conseguido aburrirme un poquito.
Veremos a ver qué tal la historia del amigo. No tardaré en empezarlo

Le pongo un 3.5 redondeando a 4. El libro está muy bien, me gustan mucho las escenas de sexo de esta autora son sexys pero elegantes.
La autora es de la antiguas es sus libros hay drama y pasa de todo pero se hacen muy amenos y entretenidos, los malos son malísimos y en este libro también hay un malo malísimo odioso que parece que es invencible. Los protagonistas me han gustado. La protagonista me ha parecido vivaracha que tenía personalidad porque algunas de las protagonistas que he leído de esta autora son muy ingenuas y muy Mary sue y está me ha parecido más espabilada. El protagonista a veces me ponía de los nervios cuando después del sexo se arrepentía y le hablaba mal. Por cierto siempre tenía miedo de dejarla embarazada y por eso no quería. Y no lo entiendo es que en 1760 no existían ya los condones?.
Los personajes secundarios me han gustado mucho sobretodo Lucien y la pareja secundaria. Pero no entiendo a Mary que tonta ha sido y porque no hablaba de lo que sabia. Pienso que el malo se salía siempre con la suya por la estupidez de casi todos. Pienso que los secundarios y los protagonistas tenían pruebas para acabar con el malo pero no las aprovechaban. Pero en fin es novela y tenía que estar en tensión hasta el final, aunque esto también me ha hecho bajarle puntos lo poco creíble que me resultaba que los personajes fueran tan tontos y el malo se saliera siempre con la suya.
Y La historia del secuestro aunque empieza así dura muy poco y la historia va por otros derroteros. Osea no considero que el amor que surge sea síndrome de Estocolmo. El final me ha parecido bueno pero precipitado me hubiera gustado ver sufrir más al malo. Pero el epílogo es precioso.
Y bueno como ya he dicho este es un libro que si hubiera leído hace unos años me hubiera gustado mucho más. Pero con todo lo que he leído el estilo de Kat Martín se ha quedado anticuado y ya no me impresiona. Por eso mi nota es un 3.5 redondeando a 4.

Me ha sorprendido gratamente
Se me ha hecho una lectura muy adictiva y entretenida, lo mas curioso es que cuando la leía sentía que ya la había leído y efectivamente en el 2016 asique esto es una relectura, pero casi no me acordaba de nada de la trama.
Me ha gustado bastante la relación que hay entre los personajes, ella esta en la ruina y necesita casarse con el conde de ahora mismo no me acuerdo, para salir a flote, el es el autentico conde de no se que pero le culparon falsamente de matar a su padre y ahora vuelve a vengarse del verdadero asesino su hermano y futuro marido de la prota... es un libro de enredos, bastante entretenido, aunque a veces los protas tienen alguna cosa bastante cargante sus partes buenas hacen que les cojas bastante cariño.
Un libro de romance histórico con mucho enredo, venganza y mucho amor.

Una historia poco origina pero bien contada.
La prosa de la autora te mantiene con ganas de seguir leyendo y los personajes tan bien desarrollados y queribles ayudan a que no abandones a mitad de camino.
Una lectura muy recomendada para las románticas de corazón y las que gustan de villanos que se transforman en héroes.

Captivated by the synopsis of the book, I longed for intimate moments between the heroine and hero which I did receive in abundance. However, I thought the heroine fell in love love far too quickly and the later part to drag on for a bit. A huge trigger warning would be rape but not to be confused between the heroine and hero but other minor characters.

His lover and half-brother set him up for his father's murder. This leaves Avery, his half-brother, the new Duke of Carlyle. Jason was sentenced to hanging, but (long story which will be dealt with later in the book) he was instead transported to the "colonies." Where bad things happened.
He returns to England a changed man.
Velvet Moran and her grandfather are desperate—her father gambled away the family fortune. They've sold off everything but the furniture in the room where they receive visitors—all that's left is her dowry, which is untouchable until she marries. Upon that day, her husband will inherit a nice wad of dough, but also her family's debts.
Hersucker intended is Avery, Duke of Carlyle. She doesn't love him but he seems pleasant enough (and rich enough to forgive the loss of her dowry). She hopes he won't be too pi$$ed when he learns about the debts.
What she doesn't know could fill a volume. Oh wait—it does! Jason has been quietly draining his brother's resources, so that he's on the brink of collapse himself. Avery needs to marry an heiress or he's going to lose his shirt, his teeth, and his estate.
Jase can't let Avery marry his way out of his troubles, so he abducts Velvet on her way to the wedding. Long story short, they fall in love, but he, especially, is incapable of recognizing the emotion. Remember, he's a bit…

The efforts to prove Jason's innocence (so nobody will, like, hang him if he shows his face) run into some dangerous obstacles, and the romance is also fraught with tsuris. Avery proves more clever and more resourceful than you might expect from a villain who gleefully contemplates the pain he'll inflict on others (those guys are usually crazy AND stupid).
This was a good enough read that Kat Martin is on my "read every historical she's written" list, so 4 stars.

Quiere arrebatarle todo al dique Carlyle, y para ello debe impedir que su nueva cuñada, Velvet Moran llegue al altar.
Ya les había comentado que este libro me estaba gustando mucho. Y la verdad creo que se ha convertido en uno de mis favoritos. Tiene todo lo que una buena historia debe tener, romance, acción, misterio y unos personajes maravillosos.
Jason y Velvet hacen una de las mejores parejas de las que he leído. El huraño y misterioso y ella rebelde y cabezota. Me fue muy divertido ver la interacción que tenían.
La historia en si rodea a Jason y su constante lucha para conseguir limpiar su nombre. Mientras la historia avanza, nos vamos enterando que fue lo que hizo este personaje para llegar a donde está. Y como suele ocurrir en esta clase de libros, también somos testigos de la lucha de Velvet por tratar de sanarlo.
El ritmo de la historia es muy bueno, siempre está pasando algo, lo cual hace que el lector se quede enganchado hasta que llega a la ultima pagina.Yo en lo personal, no quería que acabara, pues estaba muy entretenida leyendo las cabezonerías de Velvet xD
En resumen: Un libro muy bueno, con grandes personajes y una historia que desearías que nunca acabe.

Fue una sorpresa inesperada, creía que sería una historia más de secuestro y venganza. En cambio me gustó y la disfruté mucho, y eso que con Kat Martin nunca sé qué voy a encontrar.

This story supposed to be passing in late 1700 but dialogues sound so out of time that some even not fit in today`s polite society like H blatantly talks about sex and what and how he wants to do to h (his wife) in front of his male friend. I found the discussion in the carriage on their return from their wedding ceremony especially gross.

The first series of Kat Martin's I have ever read and the start of my love for her books (although the very first book I read was the second one in this series). The characters are relatable, the story not too unimaginable and overall the whole pace of the book is just perfect to not bore with either too many dialogues or too much action.

Fue una novela fácil de leer , sinceramente cuando la compré pensé que era del estilo erótico, pero me sorprendió el hecho de que tiene mucho más!
En fin la disfrute mucho, para ser la primera vez que leo a esta autora, que seguramente seguiré leyendo.

Velvet Moran needs to make a wealthy marriage to save her family from ruin, but no one knows it. The Duke of Carlyle is also in the same position. However, the Duke is an evil man, having murdered his father and blaming his older half brother who was thought to have been killed in prison. Instead, Jason was sent to Georgia as a prisoner. He escaped after several years and made a new life in the Caribbean, but has returned to clear his name. He kidnaps Velvet to stop the marriage and tells her of his brother's cruelty. They marry, but only to get her dowry. They also fall in love, but Jason is determined to end it because of past memories. They eventually clear his name just as he's about to be hanged, and save him. Good book, some love scenes.

Martin is hit and miss for me, but this one is definitely a hit. The heroine is smart and determined, and demonstrates this early and consistently. The brooding hero is deeply wounded, but driven by the desire to prove his innocence and recover his title. The story zips along, veering from steamy sex scenes to grim moments (and a little more violence than I care for) so quickly you don't have a chance to contemplate weaker plot points (or elements that now seem dated in this 24-year-old book). A second romance in a sub-plot is appreciated and well-integrated into the story. The ending is both over-the-top and not completely satisfying, but still a great read.

Hace tiempo que no leía a esta autora y este libro lo tenía pendiente hace mucho así que decidí empezarlo. Me atrapó desde el comienzo, me parece una historia bastante original dentro del romance histórico, tiene una cuota de drama hacia el final que no me la esperaba y me gustó mucho; y la historia de amor me conquisto. No al 100% pero si al 98 podría decir. Lo que no me gustó es que la parte del secuestro sea tan corta y ciertos comentarios machistas por parte del protag masculino. Por el resto una historia bonita y recomendable. :)

If her parents didn't want her to end up in a romance novel then they really shouldn't have named her Velvet. That's just setting her up to be kidnapped by a highway man who is really a disgraced Duke with serious PTSD. Velvet is hiding the fact that she's (gasp) poor! There's a lot of angst, plotting, a murder trail or two, child rape (yeah, multiple times - very upsetting), and general holding back of admitting love. One star given for barn sex and one given for not killing off the grandpa.

สนุกดีแม้จะมีความ stockholm syndrome นางเอกตกหลุมรักพระเอกตั้งแต่โดนลักพาตัวไปละ รักง่ายเหมือนบทบังคับให้รัก เรื่องราวส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นการพยายามลบล้างความผิดของพระเอก พระเอกโดนป้ายสีว่าเป็นฆาตกร ต้องระหกระเหินไปเป็นทาสอยู่หลายปี พอกลับมาอังกฤษเลยจะมาทวงความยุติธรรม เนื้อเรื่องหนักหน่วงเคร่งเครียดหน่อย ชีวิตพระเอกหนักหนาสาหัสจนอยากเอาใจช่วยให้ล้างมลทินได้เร็วๆ

Full of romance novel cliches, but they are cliches for a reason. A smart, together heroine, angsty hero trying to restore his good name, lots of boinking, bad villains, cool secondary OTP. What's not to love?
