About the author

Taran Matharu is the New York Times bestselling author of the Summoner series, which has been translated into 15 languages and has sold over a million copies in English. He was born in London in 1990.

Taran began to write the SUMMONER series in November 2013 at the age of 22, taking part in ‘Nanowrimo 2013’ and sharing his work on Wattpad.com. This was a short story that was set in the world of Hominum. It was pretty pointless - I think it was less than 50 pages and just focused on one character who isn't really important to the story. It really wasn't needed and added nothing important.

This was fine. Cute, but short, and does not add that much to the story. It was interesting to see how the testing is performed, and also too see some of the characters (besiçde Rory) we already know from the other books.

Haven't read the series just yet, to put it out there. But thankfully, this is a prequel. Or should I say, one of the prequels of the series. So you could say I'm just starting to have a glimpse of the world of the series a bit. Love that there were still explanations of the one of the conflicts and political aspects of it. Maybe I should read the other 3 prequel novellas first before I proceed with actually starting to read the main story.
