Margaret Tanner is an award winning, best selling author.
As well as writing historical novels set in frontier Australia she has discovered a love for writing Western Romance. Her novella, Edwina of Connecticut is one of the 50 novels in the American Mail Order Bride series. Christmas Cowboy is in the Western Christmas Anthology, Silver Belles And Stetsons.
. She has had numerous short stories published over the years, but writing Historical romance novels is her passion.
Her favourite historical period is the 1st World War. Not only has she painstakingly researched this era, but was fortunate enough to make a poignant pilgrimage to the battlefields of Gallipoli (in Turkey), France and Belgium.
She is married with three grown up sons, and two gorgeous grand-daughters. Margaret lives in Australia. She has recently retired from work, and hopes to concentrate on her writing.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters all had needs in their lives that were fulfilled by their new friends. What started out as a possibly bad situation ended with a much deserved happily ever after for the whole family.
This was a very good book written by Margaret Tanner and I enjoyed reading it. A young woman book keeper, being fired, a boarding house, new job, a mother and son, mail order bride, going to be married, A mothers death, taking a boy in, meeting future husband, a drunk and abusive saloon owner being hit, being saved. Will she marry the saloon owner? Will she marry another man? Will she and the boy be happy? Meeting new friends? Will all three have a happy ever after? I would recommend this book to everyone. Buy the book and find out the answers to the questions. Enjoy reading.
A spiteful young woman fires Anna after she marries Anna's boss and catches him gone. Anna goes looking for another job and meets a homeless woman and her young son. An accident happens and Anna becomes the boys only hope. She accepts a mail order proposal but things are all wrong when she gets there. Connor saves her and ends up changing all their lives. Such a great story.
I loved this story and Anna and Max and Connor. Anna is a wonderful heroine, afraid and hurt, but very determined to take charge of her life and change it for the better and unknowingly (or without realizing it), changing other lives for the better :) it is on the short end, but a very satisfying read. I actually think I will be rereading it whenever I need a bit of inspiration that following your inner promptings leads you to good things!
This story really felt special to me. My heart is filled with joy when people who are at disadvantage and others step forward to bless them. Cindy and Max reached out for help, Connor struggled with his injuries and being ridiculed by others, but he stepped forward and saved Anna from a different life. She saved Max from an orphanage. What can I say, but a great story.
I loved the characters in this story. The story and characters were believable and it was a good read. Then, just as events in the book were really getting interesting, the next chapter wrapped everything up quickly. This story could have had 3 or 4 more chapters easily! It was like the author was writing and someone said, quick! Finish the story. A few more chapters and this would have received 5 stars.
Anna takes on the responsibility of Max after his mother’s death. Anna is already promised to merry so takes Max with her. She meets her groom ant the train station to fine out he is a drunk. Her groom becomes abusive and Connor steps in. Connor is scared and limps from a war wound and feels he is to ugly for anyone to love. Conner takes on responsibility of Anna and Max as his own. Sweet, nice read. Enjoyed it.
Anna’s nice, quiet life is drastically uprooted when she loses her bookkeeping job. All within a few weeks of that, she ends up taking in a small homeless boy, her mail order husband to be turns out to be a drunken brothel owner, and she is rescued from him by Connor. Connor takes her and Max and they become a family.
Rated PG for mild cursing and some veiled sexual references and one fade to black scene on the wedding night.
This was a heartwarming story to read. I only wish she had got back with her parents and could forgive them . I always cringe at the mail order brides - that always have perfect gentlemen husbands. I am sure many women were deceived and wound up with less than a perfect marriage. I loved the way her hero rescued her. It is a great book to start the new year with.
This is a heartwarming story of a scarred man that has given up on life till he meets a damsel in distress. A mail order bride meets a drunken groom and her hero saves her. I loved this story as I always love Margaret's stories. I highly recommend this book and all title's by Margaret.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖💖💖
This was a good little book. I enjoyed how blood doesn't make you family but love does. I love how kindness is shown and how it is a choice of whether you want to be happy or not. The couple is patient and kind. A reader will enjoy the story and walk away satisfied they read this book.
I so enjoyed this sweet book about Anna and Connor and little max. Their story grabbed me right away as their lives are turned upside down by circumstances they couldn't control. I enjoyed following the twists and turns as Connor and Anna try to find their HEA together and to give Max a home filled with love. A very satisfying ending as always by this Author. JudyE
This book is my favorite so far by this author! Anna is si sweet taking in a innocent little boy after his mom died even when she could barely support herself. Conner is just the sweetest! He thinks he's worthless but he's not! He saved Anna and wanted to give her anything her heart desired! 10/10 would recommend ❤️
I enjoyed reading this book very much. This is such a sweet story. I really like Margaret Tanner’s writing style. I hope you will read Anna, Connor and Max’s story and love it as much as I did.
Anna has a soft heart. She took on a new orphan as she left to meet her mail order husband. This man was abusive and she found herself saved by Conner. Their life is busy and satisfying.
Not your typical mail order bride story. It is full of trial for each of the main characters. How nice to see so much kindness amid hardship and to find happiness in a newly formed family. N
Really a good book Margaret Tanner, Thank you. Anna was a mail order bride, her groom turned to be a drunk, Connor caught the groom hitting Anna and saved her and Max. Connor and Anna married. Wonderful Story.
