Charity Walker

When my daughter, Justice, was kidnapped. It took a lot from me, too.

My sense of safety.
My confidence as a mom.

My belief that most people are good.

The same thing wouldn’t happen twice to the same family…right?
The chance it will is what scares me the most.

This is the sixth book in the Heaven Hill MC Short Series by Laramie Briscoe.

It’s been a few months since Justice was kidnapped by one of their own who betrayed the club. Charity is pregnant with a boy and due in a few weeks and Drew can see how stressed she is. She’s not sleeping well, she calls the school everyday to make sure Justice & Harley are still there and she’s terrified. Drew admits that he’s worried too and he’s mad at himself because Justice was taken on his watch by one of his brothers.

Caelin bought a cell phone for Justice, Charity doesn’t think it’s a good idea because of the way Justice looks at Caelin. Drew assures Charity that the only people he trusts more than the Blackfoots are her and his dad.

I don’t know what the point of these “shorts” are but there are six of them now, they’re only about 50 pages and they cost 99¢ so why not put them all in one book.

I love these short stories!! I hate that a kidnapping is the reason for the shorts but I do love getting the members of Heaven Hill's perception of the kidnapping. It touched them all in some way. I also grab onto any snippet I can get my hands on to get to visit with these amazing men and women. They really do feel like family. Charity has justified fears because of the kidnapping and seeing Drew with her is so sweet. This is something that only Charity and the girls get to see. I could feel her anguish and fear as I read this book. I swear every time another short is out I find myself going back to Heaven Hill and rereading the series again. This series will never get old for me!! If you have not read the Heaven Hill series you are doing yourself a disservice!!! Thank you LB for giving us this wonderful family!!!

Imagine that you couldn't protect your child from one thing. I think that is a mother's worse nightmare. Charity is feeling that guilt and worry and stress. Pregnant and just overwhelmed, she doesn't know how to deal with all the emotions.

Drews steps in and as he usually does manages to get her to talk about it. Talking to her about his feelings and listening to hers. It shows how strong they are as a couple.

I turned the page and it was over. I wanted more a lot more. It's a novella I reminded myself, but Laramie always leaves me wanting more. No real cliffhangers, but you don't want the story to end.

Another installment in the Heaven Hill shorts, but don’t mistake short for lack of depth and emotion. This is the POV of Charity, in the aftermath of her daughter’s kidnapping. As a parent you can put yourself in her shoes and understand the pain and doubts. Luckily she has Drew, and an army of loved ones to see her through.

In this installment of the Heaven Hill short stories we see how Charity is coping with the aftermath of her child being kidnapped and the fear that it could happen again. Its heartbreaking to see all the pain and worry that a parent feels over their child’s safety and the fear that they won’t always be able to protect their kids. I’m glad we got to see how Charity and Drew are dealing with their recent trauma and how they will move forward from here.

The aftermath of Justice being kidnapped is so far reaching. Laramie Briscoe has done such an amazing job of delving into how the kidnapping and subsequent actions to save justice has effected each person that’s part of Heaven Hill, in this case Charity, Drew and Harley. It broke my heart. Laramie has such a way with words that it make you feel what they are feeling. Love this series.

Family = Love

In this short story , from Charity’s point of view, you get love , family and some serious hotness from Charity and Drew. But most of all, you see the family and the bond that they all have together.
As always , Laramie Briscoe nails it with another short and emotional book !!

Charity and Drew are trying to overcome their fear for their daughters after Justice was kidnapped. Neither one of them can relax when for the fear that it could happen again.

Harley is dealing with her own issues after her twin was kidnapped and returned. They all blame themselves for Justice being taken. The only problem is that Harley is too young to realize that her parents are fighting to maintain a normal life again and she can’t see why she isn’t allowed to do whatever she wants. She has always been a wild child, but her wildness and stubbornness could cause more issues for her family than she plans on.

I loved this story. I have loved all of the Heaven Hill shorts and this one does not disappoint. Drew and Charity’s connection is strong, they just need to remember that and keep the communication lines open so that they don’t put their marriage in turmoil. I give this short story a 4-star review and highly suggest all of the Heaven Hill books as well as the shorts. They are great stories and the characters are great as well.

This sixth Heaven Hill short is one that I've been waiting for. These short stories give us the aftermath of the events in Fury, and Charity's story certainly tugs at the heartstrings. Trying to find a new normal after everything that happened would be difficult at best, but for Justice's mother, it's next to impossible, especially when you factor in Harley, who is always a bit of a challenge. She and Drew have such a strong relationship, and even though this is a short story, Laramie Briscoe shows that solid foundation beneath them. This one gives us Charity's doubts and fears as well as her faith in Drew. I've fallen in love with this MC family, and they are without a doubt family, and I'm thoroughly enjoying these little glimpses of each character. This one is easily read in under an hour, so it's perfect for a bedtime read or a relaxing afternoon or evening curl up on the couch read.

This book was extremely short so this review will be just as short. Fantastic!!! When little Justice was kidnapped, the effect on everyone involved in her life is palpable. We've read about almost everyone's life since the incident, now we read about her mother Charity's life since her daughter was taken, then returned to her. How a mother who's child is taken and how her since of safety for her family is literally obliterated. How a mother tries daily to make life as normal as possible, but finds that going about her daily life with her children out of her view is almost impossible. Her nerves are shot, she's pregnant and her fear for her family is almost out of hand. The only time she feels safe is when her husband, Drew, is with her. Will their lives ever return to some sort of normalcy?

Great little short that will fill you in on the parents of Justice and the after effects of her ordeal.

WOW!!! As a mother I feel for Charity. I don't know what I would do or how I would act after a situation like that. I do know it would be really hard to ever let my kids out of my sight, I would probably home school my kids.

Charity is trying to live again after Justice was taken. Her relationship with Drew is suffering because of it. Her relationship with Harley is suffering because she is more cautious and Harley thinks she isn't as important as Justice.

This one really broke me being a mom, and having that worry in the back of your mind already, knowing that you can't always be there to protect your children.

Drew was amazing and did everything I knew he would do. He is just like his father Liam. Even though he is terrified everyday about something happening to his family, he is always there to shoulder all their pain.

Laramie you are truly an amazing author. You capture every emotion. I can feel everything the person is going through as I read. It's like I'm living it all.

Charity has to be one of my favourite heroines written by Laramie because there is this inner fierce goddess who just doesn’t let anyone just walk all over her. I admire her dedication to Drew and to her family. Their relationship is solid, and it is real. This book only makes me want more from them all. The Heaven Hill gang has buried their hearts in mine and I am so excited to be able to read more from them. I cannot see myself tiring from them at all.

I have been a Laramie fan for a while and every book that she releases only makes me love her even more. She knows how to write angst, drama and chemistry, and what’s more is that she also knows how to balance those elements in a story so it doesn’t feel like too much. I am glad I got the chance to read this short story and I am excited to see what is next.

In this story we really see the ramifications of what Travis did and the devastation left behind. We get to see how a mother struggles with feeling that her children are safe after something awful already happened. We get to see how Drew reacts as a husband and father to how his family has been broken. You really see all the people who were affected by one person's actions and how they struggle to put it behind them and be the family they were. I love these glimpses into everyone's lives, it gives us more time with the characters we love. I would definitely recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book by the supremely talented Ms. Briscoe as each book no matter the series just keeps getting better and blows my mind. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.

These Heaven Hill Shorts may not be long in page count, but they pack one heck of an emotional punch. These little vignettes from Heaven Hill life won’t make a lot of sense unless you’ve read Fury first. This is the aftermath of those events. Now we watch as a community, a family, battles to put itself back together in a time where everything that was once familiar is now foreign. When you learn that safety is an illusion, what do you do? How do you find your peace of mind? How do you reclaim your sanity? Charity’s story shows us the Walker clan struggling for the answers to these and so many more questions. When it only takes this many pages to bring me to tears, I think I’m as terrified to find out what comes next as I am desperate to read it.

This next installment in the short stories was a great read that I thought was finished as quickly as it started. In Charity's story, we get her perspective on the aftermath from the events that took place that the club is working through. I liked seeing her emotions and her completely normal reactions to what had taken place. I also enjoyed the interaction between her and Drew and not just the intimate interactions even though the pair have chemistry that is off the charts despite the amount of time that they have been together as well as the impending birth of their son. I continue to enjoy these small peeks into the members and I look forward to more in the future.

WARNING: If you have not read Fury DO NOT read this book!

Charity is book 6 in the Heaven Hill Shorts, I didn’t realise how much I missed Charity until I started reading this book.

Charity is living with the fear of something happening again, her insecurities are on high alert. When a simple trip out of the house brings everything up again, Charity can only pray that this can’t happen twice.

I personally loved this story, Chairty has always been a favourite of mine. Bring on Liam’s book!!

Always wishing these shorts were longer! This novella focuses on Charity and how she’s adjusting to the aftermath of what happened in the previous book. We don’t obtain any new information about what happened or what’s to come, but we do see how Charity has grown since her book as well as in her relationship with Drew. While I love these shorts, the past few I have been wishing they were longer because there isn’t much substance to them in regards to a storyline. There are only 4 more left before we get another novel so hopefully we will be getting more clues as to what comes next for the MC!

Amazing Book

Drew feels like he has let his family down and not protected them as his daughter Justice was kidnapped by a member of his crew and family. Charity feels like she is living in fear after Justice was kidnapped and she hasn't been able to get over it and she is struggling as she is pregnant. How will Drew and Charity get over all these feelings that they have and still be a family. Wow I just love The Heaven Hill series and even though these are short stories they still pack a punch. Laramie is an incredible author and amazing writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Charity is living every parents nightmare, unable to fight the paralyzing fear caused by Steele and his need for revenge. Each time she takes her eyes off her daughters the fear becomes crippling and it is destroying her, piece by piece, day by day. This story novella gives readers a small glimpse of how her life has changed, and the affects of it are haunting her. Justice and Harley are learning to live a new life, one with tighter limits and lots of check-ins, but nothing ever goes without growing pains. I truly hope we can see a day where this family finds the healing they need and can move forward and overcome their fears and enjoy life to the fullest.

Charity was a great 5 star emotional read and book six in the Heaven Hill Shorts.

We get an inside look at the emotions that a mother goes through after her daughter was kidnapped and returned home. Fear and not wanting to let them have their space. The jealousy of siblings feeling they are not getting enough attention.

There is a scary twist that really helped Charity realize some important things. Your heart goes out to Charity and feel like you're right there with her. This is a really short read that pulls you right in and you will finish it in one sitting. 1-click and get started now.

These little snippets we are getting into the Heaven Hill crew just blow me away every time. It’s something unique Laramie is doing and it definitely shows the love and care she has for her characters.

She doesn’t move on from them after she writes their own individual stories. Her characters are so intertwined that one shift in the thread that ties them together affects the whole group. Seeing it through Charity’s eyes is a perfect example.

I absolutely loved this sneak peek into Charity’s mind and can’t wait to see the next one.

"Charity" is the 6th book in the Heaven Hill Shorts series. A mom who desperately wants life to go back to normal but can't let of her fear. Laramie Briscoe has done an amazing job conveying the depth of feelings a parent experiences when their child has been threatened. I felt Charity's vulnerability and struggle to feel safe. Her guilt, her uncertainty. This is a story about a family starting to put themselves back together you won't want to miss. It is recommended that you read “Heaven Hill Generations” before starting this.

Charity broke my heart. She is still dealing with the aftermath of every mother's worst nightmare. Drew and the girls are trying their best to adapt to their new normal along with Charity but it isn't easy. Its always in the back of your mind the gut wrenching fear that it could happen again and it leaves you feeing off kilter and always on guard. The emotions that they all are going through...well you will need your tissue box nearby. A well written story and one that I recommend. Well done and I can't wait to see what this talented author comes out with next.

Excellent

These short stories are pretty awesome. The family is still working through the trauma of when Justice was kidnapped. Her mom Charity is pregnant but can't keep from worrying. It's hard for her to let either of her daughters out of her sight. Harley feels like Justice is getting more attention and this comes to a head when they are in the grocery store. Harley takes off and Charity has a panic attack that lands her in the hospital. Their bond is strong and together they are working on their fears.

Charity is the latest addition to Laramie Briscoe’s Heaven Hill shorts. This short story will have you crying, fanning yourself, and that feeling of wanting to say aaaaah! I loved seeing Charity’s point of view after Justice was kidnapped and the fear she lives in each day. I loved getting more glimpses of Mandy, Justice, Harley, and Drew. I can’t wait to read more about all of these characters. I have received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.

This one went by way to quick! I think I read it in 20 - 25 minutes.
This is mostly from Charity’s POV (with one chapter featuring Drew) shortly after Justice was kidnapped and back at home. Since I love her and Drew, it was so nice to ‘see’ them again.

If you haven’t read this series, you will be lost if you attempt to start with this one. I recommend you read the whole series from the beginning. It’s a great series!

Ok again I say if you haven't read the books precluding this one go back and read them it helps with a lot of questions you ask yourself.

Now with that out of the way have you ever read a book that physically gives you the chills this one will. I actually had to walk away from the book to regain myself before finishing it. There's more useful want to say but I refuse to give it all away. I'm waiting ever so patiently to see what Laramie comes out with next

Laramie Briscoe is one of my all time favorite authors. She is so real, so authentic in her characters and their emotions. She has done something really unique with the Heaven Hill shorts, bringing us on this journey of grief, of fear, of betrayal. Drew and Charity always seem so strong, so on top of things that seeing them try to cope with the new normal was staggering. Simply put, another fantastic read from this mad talented lady!

CHARITY AND DREW !!!!

This book short was written well and I really enjoyed it . Justice is healing nicely and coming around .Harley is such a wild child with a lot of love in her . I felt a little sad for her when she and charity was arguing .She feels like her mom treats her better than her sister. I'm glad charity is alright after she passed out whew !. A baby boy for this family is what's needed lol .
I just can't wait to read Liam and Jagger .
