I'm an urban fantasy author. I write stories about sarcastic necromancers, sword-wielding druids and fat-ass cats. My books are packed with intriguing characters, deadly magic, and mystery.

I live in the Midwest with my husband, our two children, a dog, and our own fat-ass cat. I've been in love with mythology, folklore, and the paranormal for as long as I can remember and I want to share that love with my readers.

if i keep thinking of ways to change the story in my head to make it enjoyable then clearly i dont like the story. I feel like the characters have changed a bit in this book and the romance is really meh and i dont like mystery that much to stick to this.

Such a great series

I'm really enjoying this series. It has a strong story line with very memorable characters. I was on the edge of my seat with some parts. Now I'm wondering what could possibly happen next.

The Book of Revelations

*****Spoilers*****

Not quite a 4 but didn't think it was a 3 either. Harlen dies which was heartbreaking, especially since his relationship with Eve was going somewhere positive. Though my biggest gripe about this book is how gullible Eve continues to be, I'd have thought she learned not to just go along and be more skeptical and think for herself. After being led away by someone she trusted in the last book, I rolled my eyes at the lack of warning bells that went off when Calibran came to collect her without giving any information. Doubly so since a creature able to mimic people was being hunted by the druids. James saves the day for Eve yet again but golly. It's frustrating to read. Speaking of frustrating, Eve and her mercurial moods and living constantly in denial and refusing to do anything or be curious is annoying. As for her and James, just sighs. It's nice to read fun his point of view but his hang ups and whatever expectations Eve has do not a relationship make but she still feels like James should have told her when he left after his Wild nuzzled her. I kind of just hope she'd move on, I liked Daniel personally but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen with him.

Lots of interesting stuff going on in this book, we get more fae interaction and are introduced to another mythic creature. Shaw makes a brief appearance at the beginning of the book and disappears without another word but Caliban, an enforcer from the Citadel comes aboard. His personality is off putting but his beliefs closely mirror those we got from James in the first book, cold and the safety first edict drive Caliban. It makes for a battle of wills for James because shutting down his Wild didn't work and he's working against his feelings for Eve and his desire to keep her safe against his ultimate responsibility to Sanctuary. We learn Wist is an ancient witch and much older than we were lead to believe initially. Daniel got caught up with the fae which in turn got Eve caught up with the fae Bresal and we got to learn what a feed is at least for that fae who feeds off of fear. Eve agrees to a feeding to get the name of the witch from Besal who's controlling the murdering mythic creature. Eve's seal is broken and she's able to access more of her magic but there's still another in place blocking her memories. Eve now has a being speaking to her in her mind but she's in denial about it and freaking out which was really odd to me given not only her profession but knowing about the being inside of James. I think Eve is the Archdruid's daughter but we'll see. Her history is murky and James can't find the reason she was bound in her records, a mystery to be solved at another time.

Here we go again with missing scenes and lack of detail. What do you mean Eve has been Acting Speaker for two months now? Why did this happen off page? Having her banishment from Underhill lifted and promoted to Acting Speaker is a huge deal and we didn't get to see it at all? Considering how emotional Eve gets when she thinks about being banished from what she considers home, having access restored would be so significant for her and we don't get to see that. We only learned how she felt when James asked about it. It's as if anything that happened while James was gone is irrelevant. Is he the main character or is she because I can't tell. Not that I'm complaining about James being MC, but since Eve Williams series we should live in the moments that are important for Eve.

There are several scenes we should have lingered in longer, but I've come to accept we never will.

That aside, you cannot convince me that Eli isn't public enemy number one. From the prologue, several things clicked in place and now I'll continue reading just to confirm I'm correct. You can't convince me that she is not his daughter and considering the way he's regarded her...he can rot in hell.

I don't know if I'm frustrated by Eve's decisions making skills at times or if I should give her some credit for almost maybe considering her own safety. Like, once.

I knew Harlan would die since book 1. Wish he hadn't. And for Eve and Thomas to just part ways. Likely never to see each other again. That doesn't sit well. Like Harlan, he was the other parent figure in her life. She is the reason he was discharged from his position. It makes no sense for them to say farewell like that.

This is nitpicking but as one brown girl reading about another brown girl, Eve does not manage her hair well and it drives me insane. Considering all the mess she finds herself in, why is she wearing her hair loose? Braids, plaits, buns, some type of protective style. Do something about her hair!

Also, it took way to long for Charon to show up. Give us the kitty.

Wow

A lot happened and this was a lot to take in. Calamin is a cruel, old, set in his was, callous Druid. He’s willing to sacrifice eve to get results. He works her to the bone and is
beyond rude.
James/Silas/Wild can’t get his emotions and duty to meet in the middle so he could be happy.
Eve is in her bag of emotions at every moment and now she’s hearing voices. Plus little tidbits of her past are being dropped through the story.
This alara woman is scorned and seeking revenge so she is unleashing creatures from myths to do her dirty work.
It’s a lot!
Now how about this breakfast date!

So far, Shadows and Souls is the best book in the series. I couldn't put it down. The story moves quickly, but slows down when it need to in order to let the reade experience the weight of the moment. I like the dynamic the between James, Silas, and Eve. Silas cares about Eve even if won't admit it, and James is finally embracing is feelings.

The character's descriptions should be given in each book because it's easy for the reader to forget them. This is something most authors tend to reiterate from in series from book to book. Also, AB never described Eli.

I hate reading incomplete series

I am not a patient person and waiting for the next book is the worst. Worse than that, there is no pre-order option and I frequently lose series if I can't pre-order. Why is that a problem, cos I freaking love this series. Evie, James and her shade are a delight. It's a great world filled with intrigue and treachery. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Finally Picking Up

I feel like a lot of plot points finally forming and I like how James and Eves relationship is developing. There are a lot of characters in the main cast I feel like I know to little about.. I want to know more about Will. I want to know more about Silas. Over all great book

Fantastic Story!!

Can't wait for the next book in the series. Anxious to find out Eve's story. Who was her mother? Why was her memory blocked? What is she besides a necromancer?

Good series

This is my second time reading this series, first time I thought it was ok, and I'm so glad I decide to give it another spin. I appreciate the development of the characters, a good slow burn romance and the magic and world building.

Pain and regret

This book was hard on the reader as a character dealt with the loss of a loved one. The world building is almost complete and a mystery about the brand Eve has keeps the storytelling vibrant and racing toward a huge revelation.

More Character Development

We are gifted with more character development in this book, and I am so happy for it! We even get a glimpse into Charon’s personality. This book was a quick read, and I can’t wait to read the next one :)

Great story

Again, unlike a lot of other urban fantasy I've read lately, this feels like a much more mature kind of story. Relatable. Adult characters. Real.
Well worth the time.

Eve continues to enchant!

As Eve steps into her role as Speaker trouble brews which threatens all supernaturals in her town and some of the biggest threats to her well being can be found among the Druids. It is fast-paced and an easy read. The characters are not cookie-cutter and really bring life to the story. Even the cat is very unique. Some hints are revealed about Eve's past and I can't wait to see where things go from here.

I really hope more people find this great series. It is worth the investment of time and energy to visit Eve's world.

Oh boy, has Eve gotten herself in a heaping handful of trouble this time. And I can't wait for more, as trouble is always literally knocking on her door. Eve has accepted becoming Speaker for the brotherhood, but may regret all that entails. She's working over time on her normal cases and most of her time trying to track a creature from the magical denizens worst nightmares. And not too of that, dealing with James and his return after leaving her high and dry. The culmination of it all just may take a heavy toll.

Excellent!

This was an excellent entry into the Eve Williams series! I started and couldn't stop reading until the end...and I loved the end! I don't want to give away anything, but while I know this book just came out, I can't wait until the next one!! I cried in a few places and laughed in a few and thoroughly enjoyed the whole story. I just need to know what happens next! Excellent story and world building!
