I hate to give a book a two-star rating as its first review, but I really didn't enjoy this that much.

Head-hopping happened constantly and I found myself confused about the POV all the time.

I didn't particularly care about the MCs and their love story. If anything, I wished we could have more time with the villain.

Now there is one aspect of this book I appreciate. Ms. Swinson didn't shy away from portraying the brutality of the murders that occured in this book. (This book was based off of accounts of the Jack the Ripper murders.) By Is it graphic? Sure, but that's what actually happened.
Also Jack is by far the most interesting character in this book. Yes, he's despicable, but I'd rather read from his POV than from Adeleine's. And Josiah's, for that matter. Those two weren't that interesting.

Would I recommend it? Maybe. If you're sick of romance, don't bother, but if you're curious about these murder accounts, there's some fascinating things here.

Never before have I read a Christian historical fiction during the time and crimes of Jack the Ripper.
Until now.

PROS:
—Adeleine and Josiah are very realistic protagonists. Each with struggles and strengths, faults and virtues.
—"Jack" was a fascinating character. His drive, his past, his focus all made sense and it was eery to be inside his head and almost see how he could justify himself. It was also interesting to see how the forces of darkness affected him as he progressed in his crimes.
—One thing I admire tremendously about this book is how the sins if Jack and Adeleine, are handled. What Jack does is horrendous, but Adeleine in her sins is no better. They sin differently, sure. But both are still separated from God.

CONS:
—Um....it ended?

Content warning: This is a Jack the Ripper book, so violence, blood, guts etc. make an appearance. Plus both main characters are in the medical field, so there's that as well. Jack the Ripper attacks prostitutes, so there's that mentioned as well as some disturbing things in his backstory.

This was a great book that delves into some hard topics. It pulls no punches and tells the truth like it is. Simply wonderful in a heart/gut wrenching way.

Looove this book! How often do you get Christ, a pandemic, love, heartbreak, redemption, Jack the Ripper, and so much more all wrapped into one book?!? There need to be more Christian books like this!
