Would give the book five stars - as it has worked and my little one is sleeping through the night!!

But only giving 4 because of the fact it is so difficult to navigate! If you want to find the pieces relevant to the age of your child - daytime routine, nighttime routine etc, it is so challenging! Wish they would header each page better! So frustrating! Or, compile all the relevant material to age in one chapter, rather than scattered throughout.

Beautifully written, just layout lets it down!

My 2yo was a textbook sleeper from birth until exactly 2 years old. Suddenly she refused to go to bed, crying for hours until she was inconsolable and completely exhausted (10pm) - would not stay in her cot through the night (climbing into our bed from 1am onwards every night). We tried everything we could think of and nothing we had learned about baby sleep worked for our toddler.
In Lucy’s book we found low-stress (not crying-it-out!), practical and realistic advice which was perfect for our family. Within two-three weeks our daughter is asleep at 7pm EVERY night with minimal intervention and sleeping through the night almost every night once again with a bit of help. We have our evenings back, the crying (all of us) has stopped and the dread of bedtime has disappeared.
I have read a few popular baby sleep books and this one has been the most in-depth, most relatable and the only one which has worked for us at toddler stage. Highly recommended.

Le livre est drôlement divisé ce qui fait en sorte que plusieurs informations sont répétées et d'autres difficiles à trouver.

Helpful but a little confusing

Lucy gives great insight into baby sleep and reasons for it going wrong. However, some of her points I found a little confusing. In particular, her tables detailing timings didn't seem to make sense or follow the timings she was suggesting so I really couldn't follow them. There are some great ideas and pointers which I will try using but I am not sure that the complete package is for us!

Some good ideas on getting the little one more comfortable with their sleep environment. Otherwise, I don't think I can get behind the idea of such a strict sleep schedule.

Some good tips and suggestions for baby sleep hygiene that is wonderfully inclusive of things like bed sharing. However, Wolfe often makes generalised statements (like stating that a baby falling asleep even 10 mins after 8pm or waking after 7.30 can be bad for their sleep) without providing information as to why this is the case. I understand that it is her experience but I would like a little more to support that rigidity. Also, this book is organised in a weird way. Still, there’s a lot of useful information and encouragement, and I can see myself taking quite a few things from this (and leaving others that won’t work for us) into the post 6months sleep routine. Maybe will update my review at that point.

2.75 stars total, borrowed my copy from the library.

Some strong statements made about babies needing VERY structured nap/wake windows with scant evidence??? Have also just read How Babies Sleep by Helen L Ball (would actually recommend) which refutes similar claims with the evidence to back it up.

Also if your little one is a sensitive bubba like ours, stay and support doesn’t actually support. She just cried and cried unless we picked her up so it would have essentially become cry-it-out had we continued (we did not want to put her through this so decided to stop). Not healthy for bubba. Much rather rock or feed her to sleep — as nature intended (again read Helen L Ball!!).

I like the bedtime routine and steps to make the sleep environment feel like a positive space. So there were a couple of good takeaways in there.

The author has a very clear direction in the entire writing and it was very consistent from the beginning till the end. I could only stop at 3 stars as I started off rather late for this book when my boy turned 9 months old. If I were to stumble across this book at an earlier stage, perhaps I would have had a better reading experience to apply to actual practice. All in all, still a good book to recommend to any new parents who are looking forward to an actual sleep training guideline, requires tonnes of persistence and patience in executing what is written in this book.

Very helpful for setting routines and getting little ones sleeping.

Some of the earlier references to wake windows (around the 6 month mark) were a bit off, and there were no references to being undertired. This caused us issues when it came to putting our little one in his own cot! Wider reading, and not just relying on one book helped us here, but for the most part the book has been very helpful!

Easy to read, a lot of what she shares makes a lot of sense. I’m looking forward to implementing some of it and hopefully seeing good results! My only criticism would be that she appears to assume a certain level of privilege in some areas but overall found it very helpful and appreciated some small mentions of multiples too. I will use this for help for my one year old and twin three year olds.

Lots of good ideas in this book to establish a bedtime routine and to have an idea of how much sleep/how many naps/how many feeds your baby needs depending on her age.
I did find it a little confusing at times and thought it could be better organized. Also it sometimes doesn't feel realistic to fit everything in a real life schedule. Nonetheless this is overall a good book.

Got my 6 month old into a routine who started to wake up during the night after 6 months of sleeping through the night. I used it again when I had a new baby and my toddler started to wake up at night. This book worked for me.

It's working for us!

I like the progressive/gentle approach of this book. It is taking us longer than suggested by the book to go through all stages, but we are at the last stage and are really happy with the outcome.

Biased review as this book recommended doing 90% of what we were naturally doing anyway.

Very easy to read, organized well if you read the sections you need for the age of your baby. Not a book to be read page by page.

Slightly biased as I met Lucy in person and she's fantastic. So nice to have some tools ready for sleep shaping for our new arrival in a few months. I found it easy to navigate and jump to sections that were relevant to us before having a baby.

Really helped

It did help us a lot on our journey to a better sleep. I keep refer to the book every time I need it. Really supportive narrative and simple at the same time.
