Marie Brennan a.k.a. M.A. Carrick

Marie Brennan is a former anthropologist and folklorist who shamelessly pillages her academic fields for material. She recently misapplied her professors' hard work to Turning Darkness Into Light, a sequel to the Hugo Award-nominated series The Memoirs of Lady Trent. As half of M.A. Carrick, she is also the author of The Mask of Mirrors, first in the Rook and Rose trilogy. For more information, visit swantower.com, Twitter @swan_tower, or her Patreon.

Great Togashi Monk Primer for the rpg and general lore of Rokugan in the New L5R game! Also advances the metaplot in a subtle but significant way. Interesting characters with even more interesting interactions, minimal combat/action, a lot of philosophy and introspection, the definite Togashi Order hallmarks.

These short novels that Fantasy Flight is publishing are quite good. If you are interested in a mythic asian style story all of them have been at least good, even for readers who are not followers of the various games.

Really enjoyed this book as both an intro into the Dragon Clan and for the character's story.

I would probably give more like 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it but at times predictable for me.
