Hi, I’m Ryan Ringbloom, a Jersey girl who doesn’t write Alphas. I couldn’t if I tried. Social Media stresses me the frick out, yet I can’t seem to walk away from it. I love to binge watch TV. I think cats are awesome. I’m obsessed with coffee and Fireball. But never together. I am counting down the days until self-driving cars are the norm. And if there is ever a zombie apocalypse, I won’t even try to run. I will let the first one I see eat my brain and get it over with.
“Hearts aren’t designed for games. They need truth. They need reality.”
Whiskey Trick is about the no luck in love Henry, the older brother of the hero from Whiskey Chick, and Tina. A woman who had a rough night out with friends after seeing her ex. One mistaken Uber leads to pretend dating to try to fix the problems the both of them have in dating/relationships. I enjoyed this one, because at first it’s a little hard to see the gem that Henry is. It’s like we fall for him as Tina does. It’s quick, and it’s a bit lighter on the comedy than the other two books, but it’s still a sweet and entertaining romance!
Cute, funny, original, and a real page turner! Henry was not your typical smooth romance hero with all the right moves--he was a little old fashioned and straight laced and thought things out too much instead of going with the flow. But that just made him more interesting. And with Tina's help (they agreed to 'fake date'... to help each other out), showing him what he was doing wrong and why he couldn't get a woman....and with Henry helping Tina become 'more assertive', you just hoped these two new friends would connect and fall for each other!
Although this was what I would call a light read, it was cute and funny with just enough spice and I fell for both Henry and Tina. An easy 5 star read for me!

Another fun edition to this series, I loved when Jenn & Remi got together with Tina, they were so funny. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
This book is about Henry, the older brother of the hero from Whiskey Chick and if you read that one you'd know Henry came across as rather obsessed with his ex so it's no surprise to find that he's unlucky in love. One night a group of drunk women get in his car after mistaking it for their uber which ultimately leads to Henry getting the number of Tina, who agrees to fake date him in order for both of them to improve their dating skills.
This was so much fun to read! I loved Henry as the hero, at first I wasn't too sure on him but he really grew on me. These books are a lot of fun and they're such quick reads so i'd definitely recommend this series.

Rating: ★★✬☆☆ (2.5/5 Stars) Title: Whiskey Trick Author(s): Ryan Ringbloom Character(s): ― Tina Rick: Brunette ― Henry Barclay: 35 years old, Green Eyed Setting: New Jersey Tag(s): Romance, Contemporary Content Rating: R POV: Alternates between Heroine/Hero Smexy Level: Hot Favorite Quote(s): N/A Overall Opinion: It was an overall decent read but it definitely wasn't on par with "Whiskey Chick". The romance was too fast paced and rushed to me, and before I knew it the "L" dropped which I'm never in favor of when reading romance novels if it's too instant. Sadly this just didn't do it for me, leaving me ultimately disappointed in this read. Definitely overrated yet not completely awful if you're looking for a quick easy rom-com.
Ryan Ringbloom’s writing keeps the reader on their toes with a story that isn’t predictable...witty banter, laugh out loud scenes and an incredibly entertaining storyline had me reading this book in one sitting!
Henry is immersed in the world of dating, trying to find his other half after being blindsided when his long term relationship ended. He thinks he’s doing everything right, but unfortunately, while well intentioned, he’s oblivious to the things he’s doing all wrong!
After meeting Tina in a very unconventional way, a relationship of sorts is started, better known as “beta dating”...she’s giving him dating do’s and don’ts while he’s helping her to be more assertive. But it’s when things start to change from fake to real that misunderstandings occur and things get even more interesting. With appearances by Jenn and Remi, Henry’s sister and brother’s gf, you won’t be able to keep a straight face! And there may or may not be some whiskey involved.
Moral of the story: maybe it’s not so much about doing the wrong things while dating, it’s about finding the person who will appreciate us doing those exact things.
This was the first book of the Whiskey series that I have read and it was an ok read for me. I have read other books by Ryan Ringbloom that I really liked but this one didn’t hit the mark with me. Henry and Tina were having trouble with relationships and they thought they can help each other out. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them and this story just fell flat for me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
The first 10% i was frowning and it the mmc Trick? Was that his name? Was super awkward and stalker-y. It was creepy. I understand how he thought it was how it was supposed to go, but after meating Tina he learned the ways of how things should be. But even though that was kind of fun. I just did not see them together. This was done very rushed and quick. i might have given more stars and enjoyed it more if it took more time and explored it all and not had that rushed finish.
I hope all of you are having a wonderful end to your week since it’s Friday!! So. The name of the book threw me off for sure. I kind of thought this book would have bars and cowboys and the farm in it. I was definitely wrong, 😂! It was so great! And near the end of the novel you find out why it is actually called Whiskey Trick and I thought it was pretty clever. It’s definitely not a raunchy kind of novel as it focuses more on the relationship of the two characters and how they are feeling. It also shows both perspectives (which I am starting to appreciate more as well). I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from this author!
This book was such a surprise to me. This was witty, sweet, endearing, funny and so much adorableness with these two. Tina(Trick) and Henry meet one night but he needs her to figure out why his relationships aren't working out. These two go on fake dates to figure out what he's doing wrong but in return, they're falling completely head over heels for each other. They are perfect together. Henry is so oblivious to certain social cues but thats dealing with his job, and he just is so excited to go on a date, he may scare the potential women.
This story was really cute and I would definitely recommend if you want a different but adorable kinda hero.
I absolutely love it when an author takes an otherwise irredeemable character and makes them shine! Henry was such a cringe-worthy dude in the previous novel of this series, Whiskey Chick, but he's so perfectly lovable in his very own book! And there's no better woman for him than Tina! Their story made me laugh, still cringe a time or two, but most importantly, I was so happy to see them get the HEA they both deserved! Onto the next installment! I absolutely love this fictional world Ms. Ringbloom has created!
4.5 stars I love this series! I didn't even know there was another book coming out! I was happily surprised Henry got his own book. Not only that, but I loved his story and how Whiskey tied into it in an adorable way! Ryan Ringbloom's writing is fun and sassy. she tells a story in a fun way, that makes me love all of her book, and I don't love most books in a series. This one work.Good Job Ryan Ringbloom!!
I found Whiskey Trick as part of a reading challenge. I was looking for a quick read that someone in my challenge group was also reading. The blurb for this book sounded fun - which in turn has lead me to the first of the series that I will be binging soon.
I was intrigued by the premise of this book. A man on the search for love, but bombing every date. He can't understand what he's doing wrong. He's even mistaken as an Uber driver as he's sitting outside of a night club debating going in.
Henry doesn't understand why he can't get through a first date much less get to a second one. After being in a two year relationship that left him baffled at his ex's exit, he's trying to find the next person to fill that role. Henry can't seem to get out of his own way though.
While acting as an Uber driver for a group of friends leaving a club after a run in with one of their exes, Henry has a brillant idea. One of the women is bemoaning that she doesn't speak up enough for herself yet at the same time, the guys she dates are emotional idiots. Henry figures they can cut a deal. He "dates" Tina (the drunk girl from the non Uber ride) and she tells him what he is doing wrong. In his mind it's a fair trade. He encourages her to speak up and out, while she tells him how to slay in the online dating world.
As with all romances, this deal is emotionally sticky and doesn't work out the way the parties intend it to. Henry definitely has some work to do on his end, but Tina can see the good heart and the motive behind some of his actions. Henry also begins to feel protective of Tina or "Trick" as he's nicknamed her. He worries that her huge heart is being taken advantage of. He wants her to set boundaries and use her words.
This is a quick yet fun read. The author does an amazing job at writing a stand alone with fully fleshed out characters and twists on a fun plot premise. Her side characters play useful roles, but also stand out as people on their own. The angst is low and over with a bit quickly. The plot explodes just as you are wondering if this may have a cliff hanger.
Whiskey Trick is part of a series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. I have the other books saved in my TBR for the next time I am looking for a great read, with a well written plot and a happy ending.
I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series…even if I accidentally read them out of order
Media Type: Digital ARC Source: Netgalley Dates Read: 4/25/21 - 5/4/21 Stars: 4 Stars
The Characters:
Tina Rick: Henry Barclay: Jenn Barclay, Remi
The Story:
Henry’s dating life is a mess and he can’t understand what he is doing wrong. Tina has broken up with yet another loser and wishes she could speak up. Through an Uber meet cute they get together and make a plan to help each other out. Tina will tell him what he is doing wrong and speaking up will help her become more assertive. Of course, all of this kinda backfires and they fall in love, which makes my heart happy. My only dislike was Tina’s nickname being Trick (T. Rick) it rings as a negative word to me. All and all I enjoyed it.
The Random Thoughts:
Dreams about someone named Ryan deciding what order they get to fall in love in. HILARIOUS!
I'm just gonna start this by saying that, in her bio, the author says she doesn't write alphas. And I want to say THANK YOU, RYAN RINGBLOOM.
Sure, alphas have their place in the romance genre. Obviously, I've read more than my fair share of such heroes. But there is something so freaking refreshing about this series and its lack of alpha hole heroes. In this series, we get funny, irreverent, and quirky. Still sexy. Possibly even more interesting. I'll admit I didn't love the first hero in this series. He was just okay for me. But once I got to book two, I fell in love. And this book? I am pretty much head over heels for Henry.
Henry isn't perfect. He's uptight, a bit of a snob, way too much of a perfectionist and he tries entirely too hard when it comes to love. He's looking for the perfect woman to have the perfect relationship with. Instead he finds Tina Rick. Trick.
Tina has had some bad luck with men. She doesn't stand up for herself.
Henry needs to learn how to relax. Trick needs to learn to be more assertive. The two of them realize that they can help one another. They agree to five dates. And then they will go their own ways.
I loved these two, both together and separately. They grew in their relationship, and on their own.
The only criticism I have is that it took just a little too long for Tina to realize that Henry had real feelings for her. It's like we got right there, and then it just went on a little too much longer.
This is a light hearted funny book! It was a great short read.
Tina is sick of dating seriously! Every guy is an a**hole in her opinion. She writes Fortune cookie inserts for a living and owns her own home. She is a normal woman but for the life of her can’t find Mr. right. One night her and her two friends go out to the bar and she happens to see the guy she has gone on a few dates with enjoying his night with another girl. She gets hammered and her and her two friends order a Uber and decide to call it a night. That’s when everything changes.... meet Henry he is super successful just not in his dating life. He can’t get any worse then where he is regarding that. He was in a long term relationship and did everything her way when she up and leaves one day no explanation or anything. Now he finds out he can’t make it past the first date and sometimes can’t even make it through the first date. He is sitting outside a restaurant next to the bar where Tina is, contemplating going in when three chicks jump in his car and state there address. Lol he tried telling them he was not Uber but no luck. What the hell he will give them a ride. The whole time he is driving Tina is in the back crying stating how she wished she told the guy she was dating what a huge a**hole he was. That gives Henry a great idea and that’s where we jump on the roller coaster:)
I literally was laughing out loud reading this. everyone in my house looked at me like I was a crazy. Super funny and cute!! The only thing I wish is that Henry had more confidence cause I am that girl that love a so sure man!!! Great read!!!

And it’s so cool that after meeting him (and his equally borderline obnoxiously clueless & adorable ways) in “Whiskey Chick” that this luckless-in-love dude finally gets his chance at a HEA.
Tina, about as lucky in love as Henry, with her sassy, sarkily descriptive inner dialogue is modern chick gold and exactly what Henry needs to put a few wrinkles in his neatly pressed life.
Fake dating with a twist I’ve not often read, their story makes a nice change up from the most common ploys of; “to make my ex jealous or to get the job/promotion”.
Like the previous two titles in this interconnected Whiskey series, this book is smut-free, realistic to the point of (at times) being cringingly funny (albeit refreshingly honest), and full of quotable one-liners.
It’s a great balance of humorous, touching and steamy, making it an overall quick and entertaining read.
Now, let’s see about a HEA for the youngest Barclay sibling, Jenn! I’ve got a sneaking suspicion...(titters excitedly & claps hands together).
Whiskey Trick is a cute, fluffy contemporary which was everything I had been looking for. Mutual pining + a lot of angst and some fake dating cliché, it was a fun book to read!
I ended up devouring this whole book in one sitting which was actually quite a surprise for me since I need to take breaks while reading a book.
Henry is still thinking of Sasha, his ex from 3 years ago and is unable to move onto second dates. So, he decides to ask Tina, a girl who had been whining about how her ex was an asshole and how she couldn't tell him that, to help him figure out what he has been doing wrong and in return, she can work on being assertive as she points out his mistakes.
Somewhere along the way, the lines get blurred and the story becomes fascinating and thrilling. As the title suggests, a 'Whiskey Trick' is played on them and things get even more complicated.
This book was really fun to read and I had a lot of fun while reading it!
I waited too long to review this book, and now I don’t even remember reading it . . . I’m not sure if this says more about me or about my take away from the book.
*briefly skims through the book again*
I’m not sure if I had to read the rest of the series to understand anything in Whisky Tricks, but I’m guessing not. Maybe little tidbits but nothing crucial was lost.
Henry was so dull. He had no personality whatsoever. And honestly, Tina felt a little two dimensional, too. And the actual “whiskey trick?” Really, we’re going to believe that actually worked? Okay.
One of my favorite tropes is fake dating, and this just didn’t do it for me. It started off way too strong. Everything is wrong with Henry, yet somehow Tina finds the positive in it all eventually. The romance was rushed, making most of the story unbelievable.
I can see a lot of people enjoying this, however. It was a quick “sexy” read, and at surface level isn’t too bad. Just don’t expect something profound.
Henry can’t get past the first date ... even though he’s good looking, has a great job, and a great life. So when he meets Tina the night she gets dumped, he makes her an offer she can’t refuse. She tells him what he’s doing wrong on dates and he’ll help her be more assertive and not let guys walk all over her. Easy peasy ... right?
This is a cute romance that will have you laughing. I read the first book in the series and loved it, but I didn’t read the book where you first meet Henry, so I had no background on him ... and I loved him from the beginning. At first he was such a stuffed shirt! I loved how Tina would tell him all the things he was doing wrong when he thought he had all the right moves. A great addition to the series.

First of I think it's brilliant how the title ties in with the story Whiskey Trick: T. (Tina) Rick and Remi and Jenn played a trick on them by giving them tea disguised as whiskey to get them to loosen up. Secondly I think it's adorable how the author showcases that men are sometimes simply clueless when it comes to dating and that not everything that seems a bit weird is done with bad intentions. Sometimes they just have no clue what is OK and what is not. It's hilarious and sometimes you just want to shake them and tell them to open up. Especially when Tina still thought it was a game after the night they spent together 🤦♀️.

I started a few other romances and none of them had the writing "zing" that kept me engaged. I was basically flipping through the first few pages of books like a channel surfer. It wasn't until I saw Whiskey Trick was available from NetGalley that I knew I needed to jump on this. I had previously read Whiskey Chick and, enjoyed it so much, I had hopes this would be an entertaining read. OMG. It surpassed my expectations! Henry was just a tool in Chick. I mean, clearly, we were meant to root for Adam last time. But Ringbloom did a fantastic job with him in Trick. You can't help fall in love with him and T.Rick.
What another FABULOUS book. Man...I wish more people were aware of her writing and books. She never disappoints. I finished this extremely quickly. I started it late yesterday and read when I should have slept and then I finished it when I should have been working. *shhhh that's out secret* Honestly, if I didn't have things I needed to get done before I leave, I would start Whiskey Flick. Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight and this weekend.
Even though you could read this as a standalone, I recommend you start with Whiskey Dick. So far all three of these books are brilliant. While you're at it, read her other books as well. ENJOY!
I love this series! They are the perfect quick, funny reads that I need when I have a book hangover from too many emotionally draining romances. I am a sucker for fauxmances and this one has an interesting variation of that trope with the Beta dating scenario. To be honest when I saw that this book was going to be about Henry I wasn't that excited. I thought he was boring in Whiskey Chick so I wasn't sure where the laughs were going to come from Ryan Ringbloom knows how to deliver a fun, lighthearted romance and I certainly wasn't disappointed.
I really loved this book!! It was a funny and sexy new take on the millions of pretend dating stories out there. Both clueless at dating Henry and Tina are perfect to set each other straight on what they've been doing wrong, for the next person, right? I love that they're so right for each, yet the last ones to realize it. New to the whiskey series I absolutely love how it makes an appearance. Definitely going to check out the rest of them now. I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.
Whiskey trick is the third in the series and this time we have Henry’s story. He’s trying to date and move on with life but he’s stuck. Dates don’t go well and well he’s lonely. Tina is tired of bad guys and not standing up for herself. When a mistaken identity happens and Henry is thought to be an Uber things will get interesting. A proposal is thrown out and these two will embark on a series of dates to better themselves. But of course we have some old characters and whiskey involved nothing will be smooth sailing.
