Many said Matt Yoder was the most handsome Amish bachelor in the county, maybe even the country. When he contacted Jane and asked her to return to the community where she grew up, she was convinced all her prayers had been answered. She'd always dreamed of marrying Matt and having a large family. Her dream turned into a nightmare when she discovered he asked her to come home to help him select a bride. He was tired of being single and declared he would be married by Christmas. He had narrowed his search to five women and was having trouble deciding between them. Since Matt had always overlooked Jane, was it already too late? Or can she find a way to make him see that she is and always has been his perfect Amish match?

This book to me was not as good as the Bonnett sister series. Matt is looking for a wife but he knows he wants to marry Jane so he has her to to the community to help him find a bride. She is heartbroken to think that he wants to marry someone else. We spend the whole book going round and round until finally he reveals to her that he would like to marry her.
If you can make it through all the subplots, you'll enjoy it overall. Jane is 6 ft tall, slender, with red hair that has natural golden highlights. She has striking green eyes. She and her 2 siblings lost their parents young, their dad from a severe strain of influenza and their mother a few months later from am aneurysm. After that, Jane's 2 older siblings left the Amish, having lost their faith when they lost both parents, leaving Jane all alone. Matt still has his mom, who is widowed, and siblings. Jane and Matt were inseparable best friends as children, but when they were young teens, their bishop said they must separate. Everyone assumed they'd marry when they got older, but when Jane was 25, Matt still hadn't proposed, she was alone, and she felt Matt didn't want her. She still had relatives in Ohio, so she moved there, hoping that, if nothing else, she'd have some family close by, and her moving might spur Matt to follow. He never did, though he did start writing to her. Nothing romantic, though, just like penpals. Then he writes an urgent letter asking her to come for a visit, stay with his mom, and that he has something to ask her. What he asks her is, however, not to marry him. He asks something else, something that, had I been her, I would have gotten on the next bus and would have seen if I could get my old place and my old job back. She doesn't do that; she agrees to help him with the absurd request, which leads to half truths and full blown lies, plus more complications than you can shake a stick at. The baseline question throughout the whole thing is, why would anyone think any of this was a good idea? More, would anything good come of it? It's a weird plot, and not as plausible as the one in the first book that involved time travel/changing dimensions. For all that, it's got its moments, and proves true the adage, "What a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive." It also proves true that hesitancy has its own problems that directness does not.
AMISH CHRISMAS BRIDE by Samantha Price is such a refreshing addition to your Christmas reading. It will be available on November 26.
Jane Friederman and Matt Yoder have been friends since childhood. After Jane moved away, they had continued to write letters and Jane hopped that Matt would finally write and ask her to come “home" to him.
When the letter arrived asking Jane to return and stay with his mom, Jane was sure Matt was finally going to ask her to marry him. Imagine her surprise when she finally saw Matt face to face, and he asks her to help him pick out a wife. What? Help him choose a wife, why not even consider her? It seemed he had narrowed his search down to five prospects but could not make a final decision and need her help.
How in the world would she be able to show Matt who she really needed way her?
This is absolutely a wonderful story with the perfect Christmas ending.
I was given an ARC for my true and honest opinion. A perfect 5-star book, but what else would you expect from Samantha Price. Pre-order yours today.
Jane has been in love with Matt for years, but the only feelings he had for her seemed to be limited to friendship. She finally gave up and moved away. She was surprised when he kept in touch with letters, and even more surprised when he asked to come for a visit because he needed her help. She she arrived back in her old hometown, she was doubly surprised with what he wanted her to do. Yes, readers will guess how this ends from the very beginning. There are a few unexpected aspects to the story, but it’s a fairly straight forward romance tale. Christmas is barely mentioned in the tale, and some parts of the story are somewhat contrived. If you are looking for a sweet story with a happy ending, this is the story for you.
Amish Christmas Bride by Samantha Price is a wonderful and whimsical story of two childhood friends, named Matt and Jane, that grew up close together and moved to separate states. They come back together after Matt sends Jane a letter insisting he needs her help with something important. Jane has no clue what it is until she gets to Matt's town. She's in shock when she finds out. Is there any hope for her? She has been in love with Matt her entire life, but he has asked her to help him find a bride before Christmas. Will she tell him no and leave, or will she stay and help him, being the good friend that she is to him? If ever there has been a good book for the holidays to read, I would say this one is the one! It's kind of silly, but has its downs, but funny and quirky moments too. A must read!!
AMISH.CHRISTMAS BRIDE...Samantha Price Jane went to Holme Country, writing letters between her and Matt. Finally one came wanting her to come back, to her staying at his mother’s house. Matt’s not there, and Jane told her he would see her at 9 o’clock the next day. This definitely doesn’t sound like a proposal to her. The question he wanted was helping to select a bride for him. He had five names, and hers wasn’t listed. His mother even wonders why he was doing this to her and Jane, Matt was. good in business, fixing up his family home. With this and five years have. passed, how will Jane handle it. A cute story, would she have a chance to. change his mind,. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
I loved this Christmas Story. Well written characters. Fall in love with the characters. Jane has always love Matt Yoder. He sends her a letter he needs to talk to her about something very important. Well surely that means he is going to ask her to marry him. But her bubble is burst when he asked her to find him a bride. Wow that took the air right out of her sails. She is crushed but what will she do? Great story by Samantha Price.
Another great book from Samantha Price! Matt Yoder, too shy to ask her outright concocts a hair brained scheme to have his lifelong crush return to his community with the goal being to marry her. As it usually goes with hair brained schemes, nothing goes smoothly. There are many speed bumps to get over if this romance is going to make it. Read An Amish Christmas Bride and take this journey with Matt and the woman he has always loved.
A wonderful book full of ups and downs. Jane has been in love with Matt since she was a little girl. Matt has asked to come to his town of course Jane thinks it is to ask her to marry him. What a surprise when it isn't what she expected and how Matt friends turn it around. Ver cute and wonderful story of love.
First, let me say I enjoyed this book. The characters were well written. I did not like the plan two of the characters hatched. I can see a woman with ulterior motives trying to convince a man to carry this plan out, but I can’t picture a man going along with the idea. The plot moves at a good pace and is engaging. I think it is a good book to read when you need a simple story.
I didn't like Matt at first, I was in shock! His plan was so "mean". I'm thankful that this story worked out! I might not have finished it. If the other love interests had won!
What a page turner! I needed to finish this story just to see who married who!
I truly enjoyed this book because you keep crossing your fingers that Matt and Jane will get married. They wasted so many years and they deserved to be happy and together....
I actually found myself getting frustrated over the choices the characters were making. I was definitely living the story as you leave! Great job! I received an advanced Reader's Copy of this book
An enjoyable story. I listened to the audiobook on Hoopla. The narrator was was Mary Ann Jacobs. She did a good job, but sometimes lacked emotion. I’d listen again.
