Ten years of fan frustration finally reached the boiling point... On Sunday, November 26, 2017, the University of Tennessee attempted to hire a football coach. It didn’t happen. In "Decade of Dysfunction," Nagi examines what caused the revolt that squashed the hiring of Greg Schiano. It was an uprising that not only brought forth a national backlash, but also led to the return of a Tennessee legend.
I got through this book in less than two weeks reading it sporadically. It has more insight for the front end of the decade right after the firing my Fulmer than I knew. There are some typos and some weird phrasing, some of which was from direct quotes. I hope there will be an addendum to the book to update for the 2019 season and some of the recent recruiting success. Jeremy Pruitt told his team this would be the decade of the vols and that would be a fitting name for a sequel in years to come
Being a Vols fan for over 50 years but living out of state and country for several years even through I knew some of the history of the firings etc. I had never heard the whole story! I enjoyed reading this book to find out the real reason all that happened. Hope this coming season will help write a new chapter for my team, Go Big Orange!
Good read for a Vols fan or fan of CFB. Ended with the hiring of Pruitt. How ironic that he was as dysfunctional, or more so, than the three head coaches before him that this book centers around.
