Cameron’s immediate feeling of relief instead of grief at the death of her parents </spoiler> painfully captured how I (and probably many others) felt before coming out to my family. She battles shame and guilt that cannot be easily assuaged because she’ll never know if her parents would have accepted her. </spoiler> Anyone struggling with their sexual identity should read this, but be forewarned it could be triggering, especially for those raised in a repressive, religious household.
