I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.

First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.

I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.

Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and two dogs. Our kids are off to college and law school, which means my nest is empty! I spend my time writing, working with the kids at my church, enjoying my husband's gourmet cooking, and hanging with my many writer friends. Of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Believe.

xoxo
Rocki

Brock by Roxanne St Claire

Book 5 of the 7 Brides for Blackthorne series. Can be read as a standalone contemporary romance. Mostly. Plenty of references to the brothers and cousins from the prior books in the series but easily introduced and understood.

Returning to the office in casual mode, Brock shares a cab and can’t resist the beautiful woman that’s afraid of the summer storm. When he finds out she’s writing a story about his family it’s difficult to remain hands off.
Jenna doesn’t resist the handsome man in the cab and their incredible night turns into more.

I dreamed the fantasy. I worried with the mystery and then danger. I cried for the resolution and happiness.
An enticing story with a beautiful romance. A favorite author that can pull the heartstrings.

4.5 - "Take a drink…" Stars!

Book five of the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series gets us right back in the groove with the family brand manager Brock Blackthorne, taking on the challenge of his career. Namely with author Jenna Gillespie. The woman who simultaneously takes over his heart, while potentially writing a tell-all biography on the Blackthorne family that could taint an otherwise untarnished and closely managed legacy.

"You’re good with words."

Hands down the best book of the series (so far) for me. I loved that we got to spend a lot more time with family matriarch Nana Fiona, while the element of suspense ran through the plot with Jenna and Brock discovering a large number of things about the past Blackthorne generations, as well as negotiating their blossoming feelings with each other.

"I can’t believe you were right in front of my face the whole time and I didn’t see you…"

The mystery secret that caused Claire Blackthorne to up and leave her husband Graham at her 60th birthday party and head for Paris in the first book is still unanswered though, and I hope that readers finally start getting answers in the final two books of the series, with Logan and Trey releasing in the next couple of weeks.

5 Star review Brock (7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes #5) by Roxanne St Claire
I have to say that I am really enjoying this series about the Blackthorne men and the women that capture their hearts. Each story is written by a different author and I love the diversity of the stories and the writing, with each author capturing the heart of the men they are writing about.

This time it is Brock and Jenna Gillespie’s story and I was captivated from the first chapter.
Brock seems to me to be the most serious one of the group, tasked with managing the Blackthorne Brand. Brock will do anything it takes to keep the family name and brand protected; after all the Blackthorne’s have a reputation going back generations to uphold. When Jenna, an investigative journalist tells him that she is doing a story on his family and his family’s whisky recipe, Brock decides that he needs to keep a close eye on her.

The attraction and chemistry between Brock and Jenna is there from their first meeting and it only grows throughout the story. What will happen when secrets long buried are revealed?

This is a well written, funny, romantic, passionate read and can be read as a stand alone. However having said that, this group of men have become a favourite series of mine this year, so why not one click them all. Brock was an entertaining read, with twists and turns that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Who will be forced to give up everything for the sake of love? One click and find out.

This is the first book I have read from this author and the first in this series. The Blackthornes are quite the family. This was a very interesting book. It grips you with a very interesting storyline and two amazing characters right from the start. Then the whole storyline is full of suspense, twists, turns and romance. Jenna is on town to get the story of the Blackthorns. But she doesn't want just any story. She wants the one that is going to make it or break it for her. The one that is going to change her future. She runs into Brock her first night in town but he lies to her about who he is. The next day she finds out and there is hell to pay. But Brock agrees to give her the chance to get information to get her story. That is when this really gets interesting because Jeanna is on the hunt for a secret. Supposedly the secret recipe for whisky was stolen. Jenna is determined to find out the truth. But will it destroy her building relationship with Brock? I loved this one. I cant wait to read the rest in this series about the other Blackthorns. A great book from beginning to end.

Brock finds a woman worthy of the Blackthorne name😁

Brock returns to Boston after dealing with all things Phillip and when he leaves the office, he gets caught in a rain storm ⛈ with a woman who intrigues him. One thing leads to another and while he awaits his first meeting of the day, he’s surprised when he learns it’s no other than Jenna, the woman he spent the night with😢

Jenna is very surprised when her morning meeting turns out to be Brock, the man she spent the night with❣️ Jenna, ever the professional, tells him why she’s there and gets an answer she never expected. Now, together they are looking into the one rumour, which has hung around like a bad odour, in regards to the recipe they use for their whisky 🥃

I’m really enjoying this series and I know there is still some more to come which I eagerly await😍 Never read anything by Roxanne before, so this was a nice indulgence for me but it was a very enjoyable read💕

Brock Blackthorne’s job is to protect and enhance Blackthorne Enterprises’ brand. During a thunderstorm, he encounters a beautiful, blonde-haired stranger. Brock discovers his one-night stand is the biographer sent to write a book about his successful family. Unwilling to part with Jenna, he agrees to her biography but with one major stipulation. When rumors about a stolen recipe resurfaces, Brock helps in Jenna’s investigation, only to settle the rumor for good. Can Brock and Jenna disprove the rumor? Will Blackthorne secrets stand in the way of their relationship?
Jenna Gillespie is the only child of an acclaimed investigative journalist and New York Times’ former editor in chief. She wants to salvage her career by writing an authorized biography about the Blackthorne family. To her surprise, Jenna learns the scruffily attractive man she spent the night with is Brock Blackthorne. She is not about to let Brock stand in the way of writing her book. Jenna decides to investigate the rumors behind the Blackthorne’s popular whisky recipe. Will Jenna’s biography unearth unnecessary family secrets? Can she help Brock put the rumor to rest?
Brock is an utter sweetheart. I love how he has a laid-back side. Brock is not afraid to be seen looking scruffy, especially when he is away from work. He is not the type of man who must always wear designer labels, thanks to his family’s success. I like how Brock never once ridicules Jenna over her phobia of storms. Instead, he sympathizes with her and tries to help her overcome it. What I adore the most about Brock is his steadfast dedication and pride in his family lineage. There are times when he comes across too obsessive in up maintaining the Blackthorne reputation.
Jenna is such an amazing and inspiration character. I admire her steadfast determination not to ride on her parents’ fame. Jenna would rather be recognized and acknowledged for her own talent than who she is related to. I like how she reciprocates Brock’s favor by helping him with his acrophobia. When his fear gets the best of him, she calmly talks him through the worst of it. What I like the most about Jenna is her work ethic. No matter how much Brock tempts her, she stands firm about not mixing business with pleasure. Jenna also refuses to lower herself down to her publisher’s level by writing something derogative about the Blackthorne family.
BROCK is book five in a multi-author collaborative series, 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BLACKTHORNES. Since I have not read the previous four books, I could not escape the feeling that I missed something important. However, that did not hinder my ability to follow the story. Couples from the prior books make an appearance in the story or are mentioned.
BROCK is a sweet and romantic tale of two people’s chance encounter and where their mutual attraction leads them. I really like the light mystery the author subtly wove into the story. It tempts me to delve into the other seven books.

Brock, you delicious suit wearing-rule following-Blackthorne man. The attraction was instant - on both Jenna's and my ends. I loved Roxanne's easy style of writing which made this one of my favorite Blackthorne books yet.

Brock; the man in the suit who is all about the Blackthorne brand. David; comfortable in cargo shorts and loves his family. Brock David Blackthorne is the ultimate fantasy. The Clark Kent/Superman kind of book boyfriend who easily puts on his suit to do good for his family, then is able to put on his glasses and become the nerdy escort to help out Jenna even when she gets herself into a big pickle. This is my kind of kryptonite when it comes reading...super big sigh over sexy, nerdy Brock.

Brock Blackthorne is a hard worker, loves his family and doesn't sleep around and the few weaknesses he has are extremely adorable. It's easy to see why Jenna Gillespie falls for the man so quickly or at least the Clark Kent version of the man. Their backwards relationship is full of chemistry and adds to the ultra sizzle that makes this story really pop.

The overall Blackthorne arc has centered around a secret that perhaps went back to the beginning of the family legacy, but this story in particular really dug around in the history of the Blackthornes giving it an element of suspense and mystery which was a nice bonus.

Jenna Gillespie is a writer who is there to write a kind of "tell all" book on the Blackthorne's. Brock, who is the gatekeeper for anything that touches the Blackthorne name, gets the final say on what Jenna would publish, but given the night they spent together (where neither one knew who the other was) makes Brock even more territorial than normal. He is also concerned given the events surrounding his aunts recent departure that Jenna could upset the Blackthorne business if her questions create a feeling of instability while digging for clues or whatever she's looking for in writing her book.

Brock may find Jenna extremely attractive, but he will always put his family first. He decides to stick close to Jenna and monitor her to sideline anything that could be harmful before it becomes a problem. The fact that she's beautiful and could end up in his bed again is just a potential bonus.

This story was a fantastic addition to the overall series and with only two more books to go, it definitely made me anxious to see how everything turns out for the Blackthorne family.

Roxanne St. Claire never fails to create interesting characters then surround them with intriguing stories that engage both my heart and my mind.

While Brock and Jenna both have lives very different from my own, I was able to relate to each of them and the challenges they faced. I adored Brock, especially when he threw off his corporate persona, donned his glasses (I do love a man in glasses), and let his hair down. I liked that St. Claire made him strong, but vulnerable. I loved his chemistry with Jenna. I also loved his gut-deep belief in the Blackthorne family's good reputation but it was his sense of fairness in uncovering the truth, even if that was at his family's expense, that really won me over. Yes, there was that moment of male stupidity but he redeemed himself nicely. If Jenna could forgive him, so could I. ;-)

In less talented hands, Jenna could have come off as a villainous character but St. Claire gave her texture, depth, and a moral core that, rather than making her repellent, endeared her to me even more. I fully understood the dilemma she faced, given her background, especially as she came to know both Brock and his family better, and I was fully confident that she would do the right thing for both them and for her.

And speaking of Brock's family, I fell head over heels in love with Nana. I mean, who wouldn't love a sprightly senior citizen who creates serene gardens, protects her family with the ferocity of a tiger, and can drink most of them under the table. Forget loving her. I want to be her!

While this is the fifth book in the multi-author, 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series, it's the first I've read and stands well on its own. Several characters from earlier books have page time, enough to make me want to read their stories without stealing the focus from Brock and Jenna. And, while there appears to be a mystery regarding Brock's aunt that carries across the series, the mystery of the Blackthorne whisky recipe is solved in this book, bringing Brock and Jenna's romantic journey to a well-deserved, happy ending. From beginning to end, it's a journey I enthusiastically recommend.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from L Woods PR

Brock by Roxanne St. Clair is book 5 in the series 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes written by six other amazing authors! Each book is a standalone but has an underlying story that connects to each book...

Brock Blackthorne, the keeper of the Blackthorne brand, protecting the family name, keeping any skeletons in the closet and the company’s reputation spotless. What he doesn’t expect is to see the beautiful woman he met and shared a cab with in a summer storm to be the same woman who wamts to write a tell all book about the Blackthornes, the stolen whisky recipe and the rumors that are abound...

Jenna Gillespie, biographer, the daughter of well known investigative journalists and who’s job, advance and reputation is on the line must discover some skeletons in the Blackthorne closet or lose everything.

Brock wants to keep her at his side to control what she writes but when she discovers a lead to the so called stolen whisky recipe he is determined to help her and prove once and for all the recipe is not stolen! Lots of laughter, chemistry, twists, turns, attraction and hopefully a HEA...

Logan by Samantha Chase is up next but we are still don’t have any answers to the underlying story...

Brock is book five in the multi author series, Sever Brides for Seven Blackthornes, and each book can be read as a stand alone. This is the first of the series I have read so far, but it was still easy to follow the minor sub plot that ties them all together.

Brock Blackthorne’s job in the family business is to protect the brand and make sure their company’s name stays as clean as possible. When Jenna shows up trying to find information for a book about the family, he has two choices. He can kill the book before she starts it, or he can be her guide to the family. When an opportunity arises to finally put the story of the stolen recipe to bed once and for all, one way or the other, Brock decides to help her. Jenna wants a good secret that will sell books and save her career, while Brock wants to clear his family’s name for good.

This is another in the long list of books by Roxanne St. Claire that I absolutely loved. It is a very well told story about family, love and secrets. There are many more things I want to say about this book, however I don’t want to give away any of the twists that made it a great book.

Roxanne St. Claire delivers again! This time she has collaborated with six other authors to bring us the story of the Blackthorne family. BROCK is the fifth book of the series, 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes. The Blackthorne men consist of two sets of brothers who are also cousins. A large part of Brock’s job is to protect the family name and reputation. Enter Jenna Gillespie, a strong-willed woman, fighting for her own place within her family. She is an author determined to get the true story of the Blackthorne family, no matter what it takes. Failure is not an option! She has her reputation on the line as she convinces Brock to allow her to interview family, friends, and associates. He is intrigued by her and agrees in order to protect the Blackthorne pride and a family myth they have tried to squelch for years. Not only is this a story about Jenna’s and Brock’s budding relationship, it involves a mystery around a decades’ old death. This is a story about family, love, and friendship with a very special twist at the end. I highly recommend the book, BROCK!

This is book 5 in the 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series. It stands alone, however. I have not read the others and I enjoyed it immensely.

There are two sets of siblings, who are cousins to each other, and they all work for the family whisky company (there is no “e” in their whisky). Brock’s job is to ensure the branding is correct (i.e., the “e” stays out of whisky). When Jenna is assigned to write a “tell-all” book about the family and the family business it becomes Brock’s job to ride herd on her and be sure she does not focus on the bad gossip (did the family REALLY steal the recipe from a competitor?) and damage the family and company reputations.

Jenna is good at digging and she does not want to leave the rumors alone. Brock and Jenna are falling for each other all the same. This is a fun story and the ending is surprising but it still fits. The plot is not stretched to achieve the surprise outcome.

I was given a free copy of the book.

I am finding a lot of new to me authors with this series and I love it. Brock is book 5 of the series and this story centers around Brock and Jenna. Brock’s job within the family to ensure the family branding is correct and it becomes his job to ensure Jenna doesn’t paint the family in a bad light with her tell all book. Did the family steal the whisky recipe from a competitor? That’s the rumor Jenna is investigating but they catch feelings along the way. Even if the Blackthornes stole the recipe will Jenner expose them after falling for Brock? This book is full of wonderful characters, laughs, passion and twist and turns making for an exciting read. I can’t wait for this series to continue!!

The oh so satisfying fifth book in a seven book multi-author series, Brock had all of the heat and heart I expect from Roxanne St. Claire’s fantabulous writing–along with even a touch of family mystery to make it all the more interesting.

I had a ridiculous amount of fun reading Brock. Which, by the way, can be read as a standalone *or* as part of this 7 Brides for 7 Blackthornes series. And what a list of authors we have who each contributed a book to it! They are: Barbara Freethy, Julia London, Lynn Raye Harris, Cristin Harber, Samantha Chase, and Christie Ridgeway, in addition to Rocki’s story. What a line up, right? Read More

This is book 5 of this multi-author series but even though this is the first one I have read of this series I was not lost at all. This is a very close family of brothers and cousins who are committed to the Blackthorne name and it is Brock's job to protect the brand. What is he going to do when he meets Jenna who is writing a book on their family and her research may end up bringing down the family? This was such a great book and so much fun! Definitely can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend!

Brock is book five in this multi author series but without having read any of the prior books I was able to easily follow the story. The entire series is about the influential Blackthorne family with deep roots in the whiskey industry. Brock's story is packed full of family history with secrets revealed and a bit of suspense. The slow build romance between Brock and Jenna is heartwarming and fun. I'm definitely hooked now and have to read more about these Blackthornes! I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed this fun read. Brock and jenna share good chemistry and a powerful attraction. I thought they were both very likable characters. I found the storyline to be quite entertaining with its blend of drama, romance, mystery, secrets and suspense. I really liked the push-pull between this couple's desire for each other and their desire to do their jobs. A very good read and a solid addition to this series. Another wonderful story by Roxanne St. Claire! Brock is another Blackthorne man who has fallen fast and hard for the new woman who has walked into his life. He cares very deeply for his family and what they represent. Jenna Gillespie is writing a book about the Blackthorne's. The night before she is set to meet Brock, she meets David in a rainstorm. They share a night together. She's very surprised when she meets Brock the next morning. He decides to help her with her research because that way he can try to control the message. And, he wants to spend time with her. They discover a big mystery that isn't solved until the end. I enjoyed this book very much as was glad that we got to spend more time with Nana. Very enjoyable.

Intriguing

A really interesting read in this series with plenty to hold your interest Brock the guy responsible for keeping the Blackthorne brand squeaky clean and is a totally professional business man meets Jenna an investigative journalist on a rain soaked night each without knowing the other and who spend a hot night in her bed. Discovering that they are destined to spend time together as she is writing a book about the Blackthornes and trying to find hidden secrets. These two can't help but fall in love and in the pursuit of her research uncovers some age old truths. This book is the best in this series so far as it holds the readers interest from start to finish.

Brock is the quintessential Blackthorne. He is all about taking care of the family name. He is the PR master. Jenna Gillespie is on a mission to write a tell all book about the Blackthorne's. She is trying to live down her famous parents. From the moment these two meet as strangers, sparks fly. When then meet at the appointed time, their backs are up. Along the way he is always trying to protect the name and she keeps looking for the secret. When the battle lines are drawn, what side is Brock on?

The truth can be faced together

I so enjoyed Brock (aka David) and Jenna’s story! Brock could be called a stuffed shirt… he was the business end of the Blackthornes, and he loved a good challenge! Jenna came with the intent to write a book about the Blackthorn family! Together they discovered that the truth needed to be shared, lifting the clouds of doubt about the ownership and creativeness of Blackthorn Gold Whisky! (without an e!)There we’re many challenges but they learned that they needed to trust each other, then they could love each other!

The opposite of lonely

They met on a rainy night not knowing they had an appointment to meet the next day. Neither were that type but ended spending the night and setting a date for the next evening. Brock needed to stop her book but needed to see her again. Jenna needed this book to happen. She agreed his helping her. If he agreed to her writing it her way and their relationship would have to wait until after the book. Even if they had that wonderful night.
A wonderful story. Lots of lovable characters. Enjoyed every minute.

The Family Brand

Brock was like the gate keeper, and followed his Uncle Graham with making sure everything ran smoothly. Jenna has been burned once and is going to do better this time with the book about the Blackthorne's. They meet by accident over a cab in a storm, but it turns up old family history and a little love.

Brock and Jenna

These two meet during a storm, neither fully identifying themselves. Once they formally meet in a business meeting, there's is some resentment and distrust until they realize they both want the truth about his family's history. The twist at the end is great and befitting the Blackthornes. I enjoyed this fifth book in the series.

Love at first sight. Sounds unlikely but it is really possible. We may use different words but at the end it's love. The best part of one meeting the best part of another.making a perfect whole.
