I love Dr Libby's work. The complex information in this book is broken down in accessible nuggets of wisdom. I found the chapter on vitamins and minerals quite over-whelming and will have to come back to this time and time again to fully understand it. There is a lot of information in this section - easy to grasp but so much to remember!
Whilst the section on Traditional Chinese Medicine was somewhat relevant, I found that it added a bump in the road. It felt a little disconnected and also contradictory to some of the other advice in the book, for instance in TCM it is advised not to eat raw food, however elsewhere it is mentioned that raw food has more nutritional value than when the food has been cooked.
The pictures and layout of the book is just beautiful. I used the worksheets mentally and didn't write on them as I didn't want to ruin the book! The photography is stunning and I felt a great sense of pleasure as soon as I simply held the book and opened it each time.
Great content, simple and easy to grasp information, logical and sensible advice... now I just need to figure out why I keep reaching for my 3pm cookie!
Not one of her best but wasn't too bad. Could have elaborated more, but tried to be simple, and the message therefore was pretty much the same as many other books, eat real food, and don't forget all the food groups. She also wrote about environmental aspects such as the current issue on plastic and advocated organic foods, and also gave some information about the food groups as well. Although there were apparently some 'information' issues cited by a couple of people when the book was published, I didn't find anything overly overtly wrong or striking that would have steered someone down the wrong path. Not a bad read for someone new to the world of healthy eating, but certainly could have been more in-depth.
This is a very beautiful book and it really feels like it is written from a place of love. It is filled with wonderful photos and is a pleasure to read. I think it would be helpful for anyone who is wanting to build a healthier relationship with food; it is very much about nourishing yourself and treating yourself well. There is a lot of useful information about the nutritional makeup of different foods and the benefits of each kind of minerals and vitamins the body needs.
I thought the book was accessible and motivating. I thought there was perhaps some repetition in a few chapters and the TCM chapter interuppted the flow of the book a bit. Overall, I would recommend the book to people that are quite new to 'nutrition' and would like practical tips to make changes in how they eat.
I found the parts about what foods contain which nutrients and the overview of the different vitamins and minerals and how they work in the body to be really interesting. There was also a lot of information that wasn't of interest to me.
Dr Libby never fails to motivate and inspire. I loved the layout and presentation of this book. Easy to read and understand, and and a good book to refer to or revisit again.
Such a great book. It made me think about health and wellness in a way I had never thought of before. It is also the kind of book you would read more than once so definitely get a hard copy!
I thought this book was just ok. I really love Dr Libby and find her inspiring but this book was just so huge and filled with information. I was looking for a more practical, simpler answer - although her food matrix at the back was very helpful. Loved the farm and animal pics!
