HEATHER MARIE ADKINS writes too much but still too little. She also has too many cats, not enough tequila, and a torrid love affair with procrastination.
With a penchant for the paranormal, Heather spends her days fueled by coffee, Ancient Aliens, and true crime podcasts. She resides in an unfortunately-not-haunted Queen Anne in southern Indiana with a sarcastic husband who is entirely too dependent on puns.
When she’s not plotting her next book or herding felines, she's researching the spookier aspects of history for her podcast, Historically Weird. Find out more about her at heathermarieadkins.com.
It’s a Hallowe’en night like any other – until suddenly it isn’t. James Bennett has stumbled onto what he thinks is a movie set because that human sacrifice can’t possibly be real – can it? I very much enjoyed this entertaining story of James’ early days at Oxford University where he meets his roommate – the secretive, arrogant and privileged Hunter Astley. It was terrific to get James’ backstory and to discover the circumstances that led to his immersion in all things MMC – aka the secret society of witch-hunters. It’s a well written tale with plenty of humour, drama, action, intrigue and suspense. I highly recommend this companion book to all fans of the Witch-Hunter trilogy. I read this story after the trilogy and had a greater overall appreciation for James’ story as a result.
A thoroughly enjoyable mix of stories. There are those fast paced, fast read options, those a bit more in depth that take longer to work through and then there are also those that are an opening to a potentially addictive series. Wonderful mix to open new authors to you and definitely not a set to miss!!
Interesting set of fantasy stories. I particularly liked Out of the Shadows part one. The story starts out a bit slow, but it is good once it gets started. The world is full of magic and magical beings and the characters are nice.
