"With an every-increasing hunger for the supernatural and manifest power, it is easy for the world, even the church, to be led astray in that which is masked with what would appear to be Christianity." Healing by prayer is one thing, but understanding whose energy it uses is another. In Healing Energy: Whose Energy Is It?, Randy Clark discloses the sources behind the power of Christian healing and other healing groups. Christianity utterly relies on the personal God whereas other healing groups derive their healing power from impersonal cosmic energy. He emphasizes the personal relationship with God who heals us and restores God's own image in us. Through this book, Randy explains how important it is for the church to restore her original power of healing and cogently points out healing as an essential mission of Jesus and His disciples. There is only one true Healer and His name is Jesus Christ. This book is a must read for every believer!
Clark gives a decent overview of the worldviews that have historically undergirded Reiki Healing and Therapeutic Touch. His discussion of the differences between these forms of healing and Christian healing practices was a little disappointing, however. He didn't seem to really answer where this supposed healing energy comes from. The closest he got was in his quotations from a work associated with the Catholic Conference of Bishops, which suspected the source to be either from the soul's own power (psychic power) or that of a spirit--and in either case condemning the practice as occultic.
A very good exposition about the differences between Christian divine healing and non-personal New Age, impersonal energy healing modalities. It would have been nice if more than two modalities were discussed.
Randy Clark shows the stark difference between Christian divine healing and New Age practices. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic, especially health care professionals.
