So here's the deal: I received a mailer asking readers to read this Ty Hutchinson trilogy for free with the promise to write a review. I did one better and last year wrote a review for each of the books right after reading each book. I was really excited, because it was an espionage, thriller type of story, but I was extremely disappointed with the third book. It received a bad rating because the trilogy (that was sold as a trilogy, did not end.) I don't mean that the series continued. I mean that the story arc did not end. I was so mad that I vowed to never read this author's work again. Clearly, I lied.

I got myself another copy of the trilogy, trying to give it another chance. Contract: Snatch is the first book, where Sei, a retired assassin, is contacted by someone that wants her to locate some people. The hook is that the person on the line tells her that she has information about her daughter, who Sei thought died in childbirth, but is actually alive and kicking. The information pulls Sei back into the life that she thought she left for good. Quick paced, action-packed, and mesmerizing.

The second novel is Contract: Sicko dealing with human trafficking and some otherwise really serious subjects of the triggering kind. It's not as good as the first book, but still sweeps you up in the mad-dash action portions, with some exceptional moments of exposition, but proceeds to not resolve the major plot point that catches you up. I want to know what happened to Sei's daughter.

The third book, is titled Contract: Primo. In this book, Sei is led around by the nose with some minor contact with her daughter, but there is no full-scale payoff. I feel that I've been led by the promise of some epiphanous moment that I never receive. That's not a spoiler, but my God I'm disappointed.

I was entertained, but I didn't get a conclusion, because this series continues for at least another three books. I'm going middle of the road. The first two books are very good. Contract: Primo not so much.

A silent and expert woman assassin who believes she has lost her baby girl until a picture of her child is sent to her through an assassins only social network by an unknown person. This is enough motivation for a depressed mother to go against all odds to find her kid. Overall I give this book(s) a 3.5 stars as the writing style was not good enough and there were lot of unexplained scenes and characters. But the action was good and thrilling.

This was an intriguing premise that had too many weak spots. The sneaky bits and shoot-outs were well done, but the motivations and the descriptions of the places was off. The main characters were well detailed, and the secondaries were thin but not cardboard.

I pushed to finish this bundle, looking for the payoff, only to find that it's at least one more book. Nope.

We'll written, decent assassin series

It had its good moments, but I think partway through volume 2 I lost interest for what felt a sluggish plot. First volume was quite good, and in all honesty the third volume picked back up the pace with enough plot originality to make it interesting again. Overall, it's still a classic hunter-prey type of narrative where the main characters take turn in these two roles. I may continue volume 4 if I tumble on it

Interesting plot with good character development.

I read this as a three-pack. While I found the plot to be one that keeps your attention, the number of editing errors was indicative of either a lack of editing, or an inexperienced editor! I would be happy to share my edits with the author.

So let me get this straight, a woman has a stillborn kid. She hangs out for two years instead of returning to work. (Ok maybe given what she does she MIGHT not want to return) Then she thinks maybe her kid is alive from just a photo and NOW she starts killing everyone in sight. Yeah, not buying it, I got to page 55. I have other stuff that needs reading more than this.

This is when the half-stars would come in handy. 3.5 stars for the series.

Sei thrillers focus on a female assassin and her quest for her kidnapped since birth daughter. The story is quick and action-packed which makes for a quick read.

What doesn’t make for such a quick read? The story is told from two perspectives - Sei in first person and a narrator which tells other aspects of the story from 3rd person. Which makes for some awkward story-telling in some places. As far as building tension - like you, the reader, know things that the main protagonist (Sei) doesn’t - never really happens. Sei is too smart, too intuitive, too lucky to get caught off guard.

And that’s a problem. But that’s not the biggest problem in the books….

The first two books.

Yeah…hear me out.

SPOILER ALERTS:
In the first book we get an associate that we have no real relational connection to betray Sei. It’s supposed to end the first book with this great emotional tension but it doesn’t. Because by the end of the first book, Sei has such a high body count around her, you’re not really sure if you like her or not. And the fact she even has a daughter isn’t all that believable. She kills almost every single person that she runs into - and I found myself saying I don’t want her to find her daughter.

Book two is a little better…but most of the action in this book is just a set-up for book 3. Kostas - her eventual CIA handler - is the guy you end up pulling for.

Book 3 - best of the series and Sei now reads like a fully developed character. Complete with moral dilemmas and relationships - particularly with Kostas. If Book 3 had been the first book in the series - think that would have been the better way to tell the story.

All in all - a fun read. Book 3 is good enough to tempt me to continue the series.

Mr. Hutchinson. This 3 Volume set is in a word SENSATIONAL!!! From the first page of Volume 1 to the last page of Volume 3. A non-stop story that keeps you glued to the page, the next page and the page after that. To me this is like a car scene. The cars goes faster as you are telling this STORY. I find myself routing for Sei to have what she really wants, am sure in the next Tomb she does. Th ups-and - downs the crescendo of action in all three, the characters are deeply committed to finding MUI and not giving her up at the very same time! This 3 volume set is really committed me to buy the next in this series! I truly have to know how the next series of events plays out, You have done it, you have not only piqued my curiosity, you have heightened my senses, made me keenly aware that I have to know what is coming next and how Sei and Kostas are able to apply the new DNA technology in finding the dastardly antagonist "The Wolf!"
Sir you got me hooked, could not put any of the Volumes down. As you know, I love Abby Kane, Sei is right up-there.. Thank you,, Highly Recommend this and all of your Books!

It was ok.....

I'm glad that I was able to get this box set and read it one after the other . SEI and her search for the daughter she thought dead was a great story . There was lots of action and adventure , and the story moved at a great pace. I did have some confusion about who was speaking \ talking, at times, since this story is mostly told from Sei's pov, it seemed to be her, but I did work out who it was . And the fight scenes , while well written, seemed to me to fall flat. It just didn't get me all hyped up, I guess. Not to bash a writer, and all that goes into the volume of works that they do, it just wasnt all that exciting for me . I did keep reading though, and was happy that I did. It was a great introduction to this series, and I see that there are other books, so I guess that Sei and Mui do finally get together, but not in this box set. Not sure if I will continue this journey, but glad that I picked it up !!

Never ending

Lots of pointless action since each book ends in failure to achieve the main goal. This is one reason I don’t like serial books. I was hoping these would be stand-alone stories. That’s not the case. It’s a story that keeps stringing the reader along. What stood out for me in the first two books, and less so in the third … was how often Sei was needing to pull her blouse away from her sweat from the heat. That many mentions makes one think that it has to figure into something, like pulling her blouse away gave the impression that her torso was wider than it was an a bullet just grazed her stomach and the bullet only went through her blouse. But she does it so much, it’s a habit that her adversaries will be able to identify her in a crowd, unless she’s in a cold climate country.

My only complaint about this series is it took 3 books to get you to....not the conclusion! Sei was orphaned and raised by a group of assassins, to be an assassin. And she's one of the best at her job. Until she finds herself pregnant and decides she doesn't want her child living like she had. Complications at her very private birth had her put out for a Cesarean, but when she wakes up, she's told her baby girl was stillborn.
Fast forward 2 years and she discovers the baby is NOT dead, but was kidnapped! The search is on to find the man who took her daughter and get her back.
Be forwarned, books 1-3 do not get you to her daughter's rescue. You'll have to at least buy book #4. Not sure if you may need to get a 5 or further.

I'm sorry but I like realism, and too much of this is just implausible. After 5 years of not finding her daughter and looking for Wolf, she and Wolf just happen to show up in the same city in Turkey at the same time, and somehow she knew he was likely there? Ridiculous. And earlier she heads to Viet Nam looking for a gay man. She puts a post on the internet to get recommenations for gay bars there. She gets one reply. She goes to that bar and, wellah!, the guy shows up. Beyond absurd. On top of that, the plot is thin, characters are not particularly interesting and not much detail on them, why they are or who they are. All in all, a lot of time wasted reading this.

I enjoyed this set. The story is interesting. The characters are well developed. But the editing is not so good. In all three books there are places where the wrong word is used,. In one place are is used where our should have been. It looks like he relied on spell check and didn't look at it afterwards. There are a few places where it looks like he changed a sentence and left part of the original sentence in place. These editing errors are distracting but not a deal breaker. Like I said, the story is good.

Cliffhanger

You have to buy the next books to find out if Sei gets her daughter. I had trouble sticking with these books. After a bit I started skimming the first book and liked the twist at the end, but the main character doesn't ring true. There is a lot of action but the book moves slowly. Too slowly. By the third book I pretty much skipped to the last chapter and I told me pretty much everything I needed to know.

Might be good for other people but definitely not my cup of tea.

A really enjoyable thriller.

Sei is a tough, well trained protagonist searching for the daughter she thought was dead. The huge mystery running through the series is why the Wolf took her daughter in the first place. The Wolf is a cunning adversary and the contest between the two makes for enjoyable reading. Its good enough for me to spring for the final two books in the series.

action thriller series books one to three

Sei is too trusting of the wrong people for a top almost invincible assin she shows no concern or loyalty to the people who give up their lives for her. She never questions the strangeness of the birth of the baby (although she did have a body) and her best friend was able to pull all it off without her suspecting anything? Too many dangling threads

You read 3 books and at the end of book 3 there is no conclusion. Sei has killed countless people to find the daughter she believed died at child birth,. She has found her her, seen her, but still hasn't connected with her. Will she in book 4 or book 14? Life is too short to find out. I will stick with my UK crime novels. They do have conclusions. Of course by the time you've probably read this it's already too late.

Sei Thrillers (Books 1-3)

Very well written, enthralling action collection. It was very violent, and full of action but strangely missing in emotion. All of Sei's suffering seemed mental. Everyone except Mui was focused on thinking not feeling. Editing was poor but the writing was great.

Small, ruthless, fiesty and sharpened to kill. Hutchinson provides readers how far a mother will go to protect and find her child.

Received this book for free don't know why I never read however it's a page turner you will not want to put the book down. Full of action and details with each stab, punch or kick.

Sei Box Set

Wow! Ty Hutchinson well done.

I started the series with the FBI agent. Where Sei helps the FBI only because of the agents children are targeting. That by the way was a fabulous series.
I was wondering about Seis background and in this set you know her better.

If you’re interested in action packed reads this is one of them.

A 3 book series that doesn't reach a positive conclusion

An interesting 3 book saga that deals with a female assassin who is trying to find her daughter while being misled by the man who took her

A right good read

The headline says it all. La femme Nikita meets James Bond, with a plot that exposes the passion for a mother for her daughter. The story moves in a world that doesn’t exist or does it?

What a chase

These are an exciting set of books and they seem to keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to figure out when mother and daughter will figure out the next steps to take I recommend these books to anyone who wants to feel excited.

Ty Hutchinson is an amazing writer able to do what few others have done; create series of three individual tales in a series that remains fresh and exciting through!

Really Good !

Love this series ! I was surprised that her best friend betrayed her...and Kostas- what a sweetheart ! 🥰 Mui is going to be a force to be reckoned with, and I think down the road ( now that she knows Sei is her mother) Wolf is going to have problems...

I loved this story!

A lot of research here! I admire the writer for this. I liked the characters, the descriptions of the towns, and the people.I did not at all like a single thing about the prisons and legal systems.I had thought Turkey was more civilized than that.

Page turner

Sei is such an amazing character, for someone that is a “loner” she has a big heart and comes in contact with many people for the good or bad. She’s a total badass and I enjoyed the Sei Thrillers.

A bit of mission impossible, just with a female assasin as the main actor. The story about the daughter and finding her is interesting but sometimes just a bit to showy. And the wolf travelling around just to give Mui a kill is a bit .......

Sei Thrillers

I enjoyed reading The Sei Thrillers (books 1-3) very much. They were a exciting, and fast paced stories that allowed the characters to grow more complex and interesting. I'm looking forward to reading more of the series.
