Great second addition to the series!

Carter is the second book in Claire Castle’s Mayfair Models series and focuses on the relationship between Carter and Jamieson.

We met Carter briefly in the first book *Marshall* which I adored, and of course Jamieson, who played a significant role as Stuart’s (Marshall’s lover) roommate.

This addition is a second chance love story. Claire Castle does a fantastic job taking her readers back to various past events in Carter’s and Jamieson’s lives because each one, no matter how big or small, gives a well-written insight with their young age in mind and shows how the two high school best friends and lovers make promises and have dreams without fully knowing what their future holds. What teenager does?

When Carter leaves after he accepts a scholarship at a university in California, he and Jamieson drift apart, and that in itself creates a world of hurt considering how close they were. I couldn’t help but think that, in retrospect, they had no idea how smart they were in doing so. Everything they’ve experienced afterwards has molded Carter and Jamie into the men they are today.

Carter is a highly sought-after model who travels the world, has a man in every city, and is truly living the dream. He becomes more of a friend than an acquaintance to Marshall, which is nice as Carter’s not really close to anyone.

Jamieson is an air steward, who also travels the world, is the life of every party, and does just fine in the man department. And as Stuart’s friend, he has attached himself to the little group of amazingly sassy and quirky people who surround him, thanks to the fabulous world of characters that Claire is building in this series.

When the two see each other at a gala-gone-wrong (look up mother from hell and Marshall’s name will pop up!) sparks fly, attitudes appear, and questions pop—and just like that, the past comes barreling into the present.

Carter and Jamieson have been holding a torch for one another but will be damned to let the other know it. Everyone else knows how much they want one another. They’re both ridiculously stubborn, Jamie even more so, as he was the one left behind all those years ago. Carter, sadly, seems so unsure of himself as to whether there have been too many years and too many miles that have separated them. If he could just tell Jamie all the whys and whats that have filled those years, maybe they could try to rekindle something that has clearly never been extinguished.

Alas, every now and then we all need that special friend who has the greatest advice along with cookies and ice cream to help us get our heads out of our asses. Marshall and Stuart to the rescue! ... They must be exhausted, but isn’t that what friends are for?

I can’t rave enough about Carter. This series really has it all: genuine friendships, just enough sexy times, funny, quirky, and kind characters who are so likable and unique, and a heartfelt storyline. The ending to this story is so adorable that I might just need to reread it. Next up is Rutledge and I can’t wait to meet him and revisit with all the guys again! I highly recommend this one—Five stars for me!

What a tangled web of youth. But, those experiences and losses make for such great second chance stories!

Carter and Jamieson were best friends (and more!) in high school, with big plans to stay together. That was the plan, anyway, until Carter decided to take a full scholarship and move to the US, leaving Jamie behind in London.

Now it's years later and they meet again through mutual friends, Marshall and Stuart. It's obvious there's some tension and heat between them, but no one really knows the entire story of what happened.

I really liked the mystery of what happened after Carter left for college and how bits and pieces were revealed in each chapter through flashbacks. Both had hard feelings and both had reasons for the loss of time and it's always good to know that it wasn't meaningless. It was a necessary break to gain understanding and to grow up a bit.

The characters were all fresh and funny, their banter comical and lighthearted. I really got into this read. So far, it's a great series and I'm excited to read more.

In the last year of high school Carter and Jamieson have been for each other their firsts for so many new experiences. Most definitely each other's first love...and maybe even only one.

But life separated them. Sadly, mistakes, bad choices and misunderstandings has made it so that when they meet again they want nothing or little to do with each other.

To me they seem more like magnets fighting the pull toward one another. They obviously still care, but they don't talk, don't clear things between themselves and there were some moments I wished I could of just locked them up in the same room until they eventually got over anything keeping them apart.

But,of course, they needed to take their time, find their own pace(have lots of hot sex, lol) ,to overcome doubts and fears before they could manage to accomplish a strong, steadfast relationship.

Carter is a lovely addition to the Mayfair Model series. Claire Castle did an amazing job at fluently go from one POV to another, from the past to present day and back again,so that I had a perfect understanding of the characters and their feelings, of the reasons behind their actions.

I've had fun reading it and I really recommend it.

These boys have a history. This is a love lost and found romance filled with drama (and by this I mean that the characters are dramatic), angst and some very frustrating moments for me as these two seemed to do everything in their power to not be hurt again. It was a wild ride reading this one folks. Did I mention that the MCs in this story frustrated me? I mean that but it was in the best way. I was invested in their outcome and that means that Claire Castle created characters that I cared about otherwise I wouldn't have wanted to jump into the book and shake sense into them both lol.

I love that Marshall, Stuart and even Jess made several cameo appearances in this book. They were as much a part of the story as Carter and Jamieson and it was the perfect call because they rounded out the story.

I really like the uniqueness from this author. The premise is fresh and Claire has a certain style that captures the audience. Something special that no other author has. A very pure and innocent sense of goodness that she installs in each of her characters.

The world of the Mayfair Models that she's created is fantastic and I hope there will be many more stories in this series.

I had read the previous book in this series, Marshall, and loved it, this one was no disappointment. A bit more angst in this compared to the last one but it was an amazing plot, it kept you routing for Jamie and Carter to get their shit together. Jamie was being rather stubborn, but with good reason, while Carter certainly over thought every word or action that came from Jamie, causing more delays in their reunion. A very enjoyable read, most of the MC’s from the previous book were here again, especially Marshall and Stuart, who I absolutely loved, so great to see them again. My third book with this author and I must say I’m hooked.

I absolutely adored the tension between Jamie and Carter! This is a perfect example of a second chance story done just right! You get some angst, you get some fluffy and, most of all, you get two guys you just want to smack upside the head so they finally give in.
The MCs and the story were great, the side characters enhanced the story as well. All in all, a great read! Can't wait for more.

Book 2 in this series. Second chance love with Carter the model and his childhood friend Jamieson. After many years the two re connect at a function with Marshall from book 1. Lots of flashbacks to the past through out the book. Bumpy road to love. Off to read book 3.

DNFing at 11%. Just as with the first in the series all voices are in the first person, and they’re all the same identical-sounding voice. The writing continues to be oddly stiff and the sex seems to be more for titillation that character growth.

Here’s an example passage - the two young heroes are former lovers who are unexpectedly assigned the same guest bedroom at a house party:

“Then I kissed Jamieson roughly. Passionate and with purpose, I opened my mouth and was happy when I coaxed his lips apart and felt his stiff body slightly relax. And then, within moments it was over. He swatted my hand and moved away from my kiss. Suddenly the room felt stuffy as not only anger but lust radiated from him. I don’t know what had come over me. How was I to try and gain his trust and explain everything if I reacted like that? I went back to the single bed by the far wall and stretched out, then picked up my phone and started scrolling through my Instagram. My fans loved when I posted pictures, and I tried to keep up with it.”

So, first instead of talking, our hero kisses his ex without consent. Then he starts fussing with his Instagram. Huh?

I’m too old for this. I like my fluff to make sense.
