Discover how Jesus’ happy ending can be yours too. We all long for “happily ever afters”. But let’s face it, life’s just not like that! Or is it? This evangelistic book takes readers through the Easter story. Good Friday looked like a bad ending to Jesus’ story. But Easter Sunday changed everything...for everyone...for ever after! Readers will discover how Jesus’ happy ending can be theirs too as they explore how his life, death and resurrection solve the big issues that plague humankind—sin and death. Easter really can change your life, for good, for ever after! This book is great to give away to non-believers at Easter.
Jonty Allcock is pastor at the Globe Church in central London. He is married to Linda and loves being a dad to three sons. Jonty is the author of Impossible Commands, Lost, Hero and Fearless.
Our lives consist of beginnings and endings. And every story between has its own beginning and end. Unfortunately, we are all heading toward the same ending: Death. But In Happily Ever After by Jonty Allcock, he shows how Easter can change your life for good.
The Power of an Ending
In six short chapters, Allcock frames the Easter story around the framework of endings. We first look at Jesus’ Friday Ending and compare it to Jesus’ Sunday Ending. We then look at Our Friday Ending and see what Our Sunday Ending will be when we trust in Jesus.
This is an evangelistic book, and Allcock keeps that in mind. He makes simple points but backs them with Scriptural truth. He uses examples that are easy to understand and he does not bog his readers down in theological terms or concepts.
Making the Connection
What I found most helpful was how he spoke of Jesus’ Friday ending. He explains that it was unfair, futile, and final. It connected with me because I could see the freedom that we all need in Jesus. I was reminded of celebrities, acquaintances, and loved ones who have passed before me. And I am urged to make sense of what my own ending will be.
A truth that I found to be most insightful was how he showcased the stone of Jesus’ tomb. He writes that death is like a large stone that rolls into place and cannot be moved. But Jesus rolled death backward. He reversed it. I found this to be a beautiful picture of what it means for Jesus to be victorious over death.
A Story Worth Sharing
At just over 50 pages, this book makes a perfect gift to give during Easter. I must also mention that it is beautifully designed, with gold highlights and beautiful typography. It will be attractive to those who are interested in knowing about how Easter can change our lives for good. This is a story worth sharing.
I was provided a free copy of Happily Ever After but was not required to write a positive review.
Such an enjoyable and simple explanation of the gospel. The author stays tied to Scripture and uses crystal clear illustrations. Jesus died a shameful and unjust death on Friday but rose defeating death on Sunday. His death was for our sin. His resurrection means we can have life too. We are connected to him by believing his words.
This little book puts into perspective human nature and our connection with God in a way I never thought of or pondered much before. A true keeper. It is clear and engaging as well. I'd recommend it to everyone.
