Life spiraled out of control when I got knocked up by my brother’s best friend.
There’s some things you need to know about “Mr. Playboy” Jason Cooper. His arrogance is off the charts and he’s a total Casanova. Since I’ve grown up with him next door, we’ve always been fighting.
He may be gorgeous and charismatic as hell – but at the same time, he’s always been my kryptonite. And I could never imagine living with a guy like him.
Until an unthinkable tragedy happens. Now I need his support to take care of my nephew, Liam. And I’m forced to live with my favorite enemy.
Well, maybe I can take this lemon and make lemonade. Watching him with Liam… how he takes care of him. The way he looks at me, touches me, protects me – it feels unbelievably good.
Turns out, I couldn’t keep my distance from him. I let his irresistibly strong arms hold me tight. Who would’ve thought a one-night stand would produce the surprise I’m carrying now?
Maybe it’s time to tell him about our unexpected gift… but can I really trust that Jason has changed his ways forever?
"My Best Mistake" is a full length standalone romance with no cheating and no cliffhangers, but with a gorgeous protective alpha male, plenty of steam and a guaranteed HEA. I've also included a preview of my romance novel "Unexpected Surprise" for you. Happy reading! - Sarah J. Brooks (USA Today Bestselling Author)
After reading the blurb, I was so excited to read this book. Unfortunately, so much of what was in the blurb was not actually in the book. They didn’t grow up together, at all. So that storyline was not included anywhere. Next, they were never a one night stand & the baby aspect of the book doesn’t even come into play until the last ten percent.
I’m honestly super disappointed with how misleading it all was. I will say that this book did have some good heat, but the characters lacked depth and the scenes were all very repetitive. At times I thought there was promise with some of the conflicts that arose but they mostly get brushed aside and never resolved. Add that in with the plot holes and other miscellaneous tidbits that make zero sense and you’ve got a whole lot of hot mess.
I don’t like to leave negative reviews but I feel like if I can save someone else from wasting their time, I need to do it.
Beautiful and heartwrenching, this book is full of emotion, both happy and sad you will fall in love with Jason and Brooke. They are two people who both have their own baggage from their pasts and are an unlikely couple, but they are thrown together through tragic circumstances and have to spend time together. Were they grow closer and discover feelings for one another and an undeniable chemistry that is hard to disguise, and will change everything. I Loved this book it is an exceptionally addictive read and I could not put it down,it will take you on a mesmerising journey of tragedy ,Love ,Romance and Joy I highly recommend it and give it 5 glorious stars.
This was an enjoyable read. Brooke was babysitting her nephew when she got the news of her brother and hos wife dying. The will leaves Liam in the custody of her and her brothers best friend Jason. Of course while living together they have a fling. Both want more but of course there was a misunderstanding. Thankfully in the end it all got worked out and they got their HEA.
Well, he's not really an jerk like the blurb says. It's actually been a very hard life for Jason and he's single.
Brooke has had her misfortune as well.
They are both guardians of Liam. They both adore the little guy. It's sweet.
Parts of the book are just so sweet. Then the author uses the stupid misunderstanding ploy to get angst into the story. It just makes Brooke look flaky, I'm sorry. Tell him what you saw!!!
I do like the story other than the misunderstanding, but it was dumb.
An amazing love story that begins with tragedy. Brooke is a girl from Minnesota with a sad life, except for her hero, her brother. When her ex fiancé leaves her in the altar, her brother Marvin rescues her and takes her to his home in LA. In the process of healing her brother Marvin, his girlfriend Ellie and his best friend Jason take her out in the nights to party.
That's when Brooke notices Jason as incredibly hot, but hates him because his a man whore.
When Marvin and Ellie have a baby boy, they get married. In their honeymoon, they’re killed in an accident that leaves Brooke and Jason with the custody of Liam.
This story is about how two people find love in each other and form the lives and love they always hope to have.
My Best Mistake is a sweet and beautiful story. This story is one I kind of need right now after reading some crappy books lately. Sarah brings two people Brooke and Jason are two people that don't usually get along at all. But due to unforeseen circumstances, they will have to get together for their nephew and godson to raise him.
Brooke and Jason are great characters separately, but together they are extraordinary. These two will have to work out family issues that they are not prepared for, sexual tension that has been burning, and a future that neither one of them is ready for.
After receiving this book as an ARC in exchange of a review, I knew at once I just had to read it and I'm very glad I did. Leave it to Sarah J. Brooks to once again write such another captivating story that's full of emotion from start to finish. I absolutely loved Jason's and Brooke's interactions a well as Liam's. From intense chemistry to unbearable emotional pain, this book and the characters within sent me through a rollercoaster of tearful but joyful emotions especially at the end.
"My Best Mistake" is very well-written and fun to read. I'm gladly giving this book a full 5-star review rating and highly recommending it to absolutely everyone who loves reading romance.
Brooke goes to LA to visit her brother and lick her wounds. While there, she meets her brother’s friend Jason and sparks fly but he isn’t her type. When tragedy occurs on her brother’s honeymoon, Brooke and Jason must care for her brother’s son. What will happen as they spend time together more sparks begin to fly. Will secrets tear them apart? Fast-paced read with lots of emotion and drama. I was hooked from beginning to end. I really liked it.
Brooke and Jason's story is the recipe of a great story, fun, tragedy, drama and a bit of sadness will take you on a roller coaster ride. It is an emotional story that leaves Liam her nephew in her care and alon with Jason, they try their best to make a family unit for him. A fabulous story and I honestly volunteered to review this story.
I liked the concept of the story but the narration just fell flat for me. There were passages that could have been shorted immensely and plot points that were just thrown in to create drama but it was never followed through. Furthermore, the time concept in this book was off and things happened 2 weeks ago and then it somehow was yesterday.
This book should be listed under erotica. I love a good romantic story but the amount of sex in this book had me skipping through many pages. I don’t mind some sex but when every other page is about sex it gets to a point that you question whether the book even has a story to follow.
WOW! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! I LOVE THE WHOLE TRILOGY! I laugh because I started this trilogy backwards. I read book 3 first and then so on. Lol! Each book just as amazing as the last but I have to say this book was set your crotch on fire smokin hot!! I was consumed from the first chapter. Right at the very start of the story I was crying so hard I thought, Oh Wow, if I'm crying like this now what am I going to be like by the end of the book? La I fell in love with Jason and Brooke's characters instantly. I do wish we would have gotten to know Marvin and Ellie's characters better even though we get some little details here and there it wasn't enough. I absolutely adored Mrs. Stewart's character, Ellie's mom. She just put me in mind of the sweetest grandmother ever so warm and caring and sweet and loving. I was super happy that Brooke and Jason continued to include her in little Liam's life. And speaking of Liam, talk about cuteness overload. Sarah could not have described his character any better. I love books that include child characters. The sexual chemistry between Jason and Brooke was so intense you could almost feel it coming off the pages. Jason is a smokin hot mountain of a man that has women wanting to climb him like a tree including Brooke. Jason is alone in life after lost his family and now all he has in his life is Brooke and Liam and he wants to do some very descriptive naughty things to Brooke which had my insides doing a happy dance. Lol. Brooke is a gorgeous woman who has had some really bad luck in the love department and her trust in men is non existent. She's also had a sad childhood and depended alot on her older brother Marvin which she no longer has. My heart was breaking for her when they went to her parents house. I was crying for her. I did not see that coming about her parents. When things start to get confusing between Jason and Brooke it irritated the crap out of me, it reminded me of a high school couple. These two are obviously heading into something amazing it just took forever to get there. I will probably re-read books 2 & 3 now. Lol ! I loved every minute of it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TRILOGY TO EVERYONE!
Note that the story has off page and on page mention of loss of family to motor vehicle accident, so sensitive readers please read with caution. Whilst the story had a good amount of emotion (heart warming and heart wrenching ones), the relationship between Jason and Brooke felt like it never went past just a physical one. There were a lot of bedroom scenes, and as steamy as they were, I would have preferred they moved more away from the physical to connecting on an emotional one, one that was just the 2 of them without Liam in the mix. Unfortunately the jump from physical to the misunderstandings causing the conflict to resolution went straight to HEA so it felt a little too sudden to me. However if you enjoy very steamy romance, some angst and emotion with a sweet HEA, this book works.
A man who lost his entire family, twice, and a woman who was left at the alter come together to raise a 7 month old whose parents were killed. The throes of passion are pretty hot, but if not for Jason Cooper, I wouldn’t have finished this book and I would have given it 1 star. The heroine is annoying.
Jason is amazing. Sweet, helpful, hard working, and a sexy fireman. His commitment to his god son, Isaac, is unwavering. Isaac’s aunty, Brooke, has mood swings that could give you whiplash and jumps to so many conclusions that you’d think she’s part rabbit. Seriously, I just wanted to punch her in her throat.
I really loved this book. I got it on Kindle Unlimited and these titles are pretty hit and miss. This one hit all the right notes.
A horrible tragedy strikes. It is written in a way that I actually cried, and I do not cry often. I could feel the pain and horror Jason was experiencing.
This book is about healing. Healing of self after loss, healing of heart's that have been closed off, and healing of relationships. I thought the heroine was a bit weak and judgmental. But Jason was well rounded and I think I might have fallen just a teensy bit in love with this hero.
Didn't make it past 4 chapters. Everything the characters said and or thought was predictable and cliche like a teenager was writing it based off of a couple romance novels they've read. Feel guilty saying this after the reviews I've seen before purchase but I felt embarrassed the longer I read. Hey maybe it's all the reviews cracked it up to be if I would have made it farther, but I highly doubt it and would not recommend. Or maybe I just read too many romance books and had higher expectations.
Jason and Brooke draw you into this story from page one. They have booth experienced loss, and it will be the loss of her brother and his wife that will bring these two together. Jason was considered as an arrogant full of himself person that Brooke believed him to be. Jason quietly kept his true feelings for Brooke to himself, but will they shine through when he has to step up to the plate and become father to his best friend's son? This emotional story will touch you and have you in Jason and Brooke's corner. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this story for an honest review.
Brooke and Jason dance at Brooke's brother's wedding and a spark reignites... They'll connect, get to know one another and grow closer , on a deeper level through a couple of very dramatic circumstances. This is a sweet and easy read with very relatable characters that have lived a hard life and deserve so much more ;) Many steamy and sexy moments. Congrats to the author!! I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review
My second time reading this book and I loved it even more the second time around! Brooke and Jason's chemistry is just off the charts! Even through hard times they still find away to through it all together. Of course there's little hiccups but it never matters in the end because they're meant to be. I just can't say enough great thing about this story, I think the fact that it's so believable makes me love it even more. Also Jason's a hot firemen so that's always a plus!
Sarah is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors. With perfect paving the plot twists are written swiftly and with a good understanding of her readers. The progression of the stories are entertaining, the sex hot, the characters written with such accuracy it's almost as though she I does them. Another great read.
It was great at the beginning but the part where they kept assuming things about each other for annoying. Also, Ellies mother was referred to as Mrs. Stewart in the beginning and end of the book but Mrs. foster in the middle
Great book. Two people who can't stand one another cause of they say they live end up taking care of same child. So they put their differences aside and take care of Liam and find out they really care about each other.

This book was a 4 or 5 until the ending... "when were you going to tell me?" From there it was blah blah blah I'm sorry, I love you, will you marry me. Epilogue "the end". Everything they went through and to have it end faster than a joint at a Bob Marley concert, was a tad disappointing.
