Many parts of this book were a bit too... unscientific for my tastes. Claims as, "There is one key element for happy and thriving plants, superseding even light, water, or soil. It is love," and, "The earth nourishes plants; the earth makes crystals--it seems like a logical conclusion that plants and crystals have a strong bond and that crystals have a beneficial effect on our plants," make me go, "...really?" There is a lot of talk about positive energy, and how to be happy; it seems that when they titled the book "Plant Tribe: Living Happily Ever After with Plants" they really put the emphasis on "Happily". The book also often mentions how plants enjoy our company, and, see, I love my plants, but I'm not convinced that my plants care even a little about me in return, so I'm rather skeptical about this.

Still, I enjoyed the more straightforward parts on plant care, and the section on which plants are best suited for which rooms, and I liked reading the profiles of various plant-loving people and seeing their plant-filled homes.

Hloupé číst tohle na podzim. Dostanete akorát tak chuť dělat všechno, co se má dělat na jaře, a do jara - ksakru - času moc moc. Do tý doby, pravda, můžete uvažovat nad další chutí, a to stěhovat se a začít podstatně více vydělávat. Na to do jara zase tolik času není. Těch chutí vás během téhle knihy přepadne tak dvě stě sedmdesát tři. Beware, be aware and be brave. And inspired. Rozvážně.

In "Plant Tribe" von Igor Josifovic und Judith de Graaff geht es um das glückliche (Zusammen-) Leben mit und von Pflanzen. Im Buch findet man Ideen und Tipps für Pflanzenliebhaber, einen Raum - Guide für die Pflanzen Wahl, Einblicke in begrünte Häuser und Wohnung weltweit sowie Deko-und Stylingideen.

Gekommen bin ich auf das Buch, da ich mir Pflanzen Ableger bestellt hatte. Ich wusste zwar grob, wie ich die Ableger aufziehen kann, erhoffte mir aber eine genauere Anleitung in "Plant Tribe" zu finden. Generell erhoffte ich mir tolle DIYs und Tipps zur Pflanzenpflege zu finden.
Jedoch wurden meine Erwartungen leider nicht ganz erfüllt. Doch fangen wir mit den positiven Aspekten des Buches an. "Plant Tribe" ist ein unheimlich hochwertiges Buch und wahnsinnig toll gestaltet. Man findet viele tolle Bilder und die Qualität und Optik der Fotos ist einfach toll. Stellenweise kann man es mit einem hochwertigen Fotografie Bildband vergleichen. Auch die verschiedene Einblicke in begrünte Häuser und Wohnungen auf der ganzen Welt war wirklich interessant anzuschauen und zu lesen. Es waren definitiv einige tolle DIY Ideen und Inspirationen dabei, jedoch hatte ich mir stellenweise handfestere Tipps und Ideen gewünscht.
Leider besteht jedoch der Großteil des Buches und der Texte aus ziemlich unwissenschaftlichen Aussagen. So heißt es öfter mal, dass vor allem Liebe und positive Energie Pflanzen wachsen lässt und sie zum blühen bringt. An sich natürlich nichts schlechtes - aber wenn ich nicht weiß, wie ich meine Pflanzen richtig bewässere hilft mir auch keine poritive Energie mehr. Da die meisten Texte des Buches solchen Aussagen ähneln, konnte ich leider nicht sehr viel aus dem Buch mitnehmen.

Очень красивая и совершенно бестолковая для российского читателя книга.
Почему?
Она не адаптирована и, к сожалению, сама по себе не подходит для реалий. Можно почитать о том, как человек в доме на 300 квадратов в одном из штатов США выращивает 400 растений по практических знаний из этого будет ноль. А таких историй - почти на четверть книги.
Советы в книге - ну для совсем начинающих. Из серии "смотрите на растение перед покупкой, не переливайте его". Ещё очень сильный уклон во всякие атмосферы-мистические характеристики растений и прочий псевдо-хюгге.
Очень красивое оформление, красивые фотографии, но в целом - просто хорошо оформленная и свёрстанная сказка для мечтаний за чашкой чая.

This book is beautifully done, I loved the design, photography, loved the fact that it’s not all plain white boring minimalistic scandinavian style.
My favorite part is “plant tribe people” - profiles of fellow plant addicts and their homes.

But some parts of this book made me cringe - I would much rather read some intersting plant profiles or care tips than that new age esoteric crap about the power of love and crystals. Like, why????

Ich habe dieses Jahr Pflanzen für mich entdeckt. Ich dachte immer, ich hätte keinen grünen Daumen, aber anscheinend ist dies nicht der Fall, solange sie keine Blüten haben. Blumen halten wirklich nie lange bei mir, aber meinen Pflanzen geht es richtig gut und sie wachsen auch jeden Tag etwas mehr. Durch meine neu entdeckte Pflanzenliebe, habe ich auch den Account @urbanjungleblog auf Instagram für mich entdeckt. Umso erfreuter war ich, als ich gesehen habe dass sie ein Buch über Pflanzen geschrieben haben. Zunächst möchte ich die Aufmachung des Buches einfach nur loben. Das Buch ist sehr hochwertig und wunderschön gestaltet. Ich bin mir sicher, ich werde auch in Zukunft immer mal wieder hinein schauen. Das Buch ist in 6 Kapitel eingeteilt und behandelt sehr viele Themen. Aber in diesem Buch geht es nicht, wie in anderen Büchern, nur um die ausschließliche Pflege von Pflanzen, sondern um die Wertschätzung und Integration jener im Alltag. Zu Beispiel werden hier auch die spirituellen und künstlerischen Aspekte angesprochen, mit denen ich mich noch gar nicht beschäftigt hatte, geschweige den wusste das sie existieren. In diesem Buch geht es also nicht nur um die Standortwahl der Pflanze oder das Umtopfen, auch wenn diese wichtigen Themen angesprochen werden. Es werden hier auch einige Tipps dafür gegeben, wie man am besten mit Tieren und Pflanzen zusammenleben kann, schließlich sind einige Pflanzen für Tiere giftig. Was mir sehr gefallen hat, waren die Einblicke in die vielen Haushalte von Pflanzenliebhabern. Es war für mich sehr interessant, inspirierend und informativ. Es gab nämlich immer kleine wertvolle Tipps von den jeweiligen Personen, die auf den Seiten angesprochen oder vorgestellt wurden. Wer in diesem Buch nach einer Art Pflanzenlexikon sucht, wird hier nicht fündig werden, dass sollte ich hier vielleicht auch mal kurz erwähnen. In dem Buch werden zwar sehr viele Pflanzen beim Namen genannt und auch gezeigt, aber man muss selber tätig werden und etwas nachforschen, wenn man genaueres über sie wissen will. Trotzdem bin ich der Meinung, dass dieses Buch sowohl für Einsteiger als auch für Fortgeschrittene ideal ist. Es ist für alle Pflanzenliebhaber ein muss meiner Meinung nach. Ich kann euch dieses Buch auf jeden Fall empfehlen.
Plant Tribe bekommt von mir wohlverdiente 5 Sterne.

excellent structure of the book and a lot of useful information for someone just starting w/ indoor plants, but also for those struggling with getting the best out of their indoor plants because they just think plants need water and light. Made me invest a lot in buying more plants and starting to build up on my indoor jungle which looks great already. I've never lost a plant in the past year (thing that was quite frustrating before) and I definitely propagated more than I hoped. House looks amazing and I know how to adapt care /watering to the room plants are living in (different temp and light). i still struggle with my Monstera(s), which apparently I shouldn't, but i am hopeful that soon enough I'll learn its tricks.

I read this book after reading their other book, Urban Jungle (which I liked substantially more). Nice to see how other people decorate their houses with plants, and I appreciate the diversity in design styles. But I would have preferred fewer house/influencer profiles and more depth about each. I also thought some of the houses were more radical cases, with 200+ plants, so a bit far from how the house of an average person with a full-time job would look like. The key aspect I disliked is the strong focus on pseudoscience, there is discussion about the power of crystals, claims that plants need "love", and each influencer profile mentions his/her zodiac sign. I do realize other readers may enjoy this book and perhaps I'm just not the target reader.

This is mostly a book of interior design, showing the styles of different people in different parts of the world making plants a central part of their homes. The “tribe” bit refers to the growing interest in living with A LOT of plants in a stylish way and the community of people carrying this out in their own very personal way, possibly making a business and whole life style out of the plants. If you are looking for plant growing advice, there are other books.

This book falls between a 3.5 and 4 stars for me. It was a heartfelt book with some beautiful photography and good ideas, so I would ultimately recommend this easy to read and pretty book. A downside was that some of the advice was a little repetitive at times and some of the information either a little over simplistic or something you could get elsewhere. But a relatively good read overall! :)

I already loved plants before I started this book, and now I love them even more. Plant Tribe has helped me so much. I take such better care of my plants now, and I’ve learned how to decorate with my plants in much better ways. It’s more than just a “coffee table” book. It has some really good information in there! I also love how everyone’s social media is in the book.

3.5 Stars. I really liked seeing other's plant collections and how they design their interior. That being said, there wasn't much more than that to interest me. I'm not a "crystal" person or someone remotely interested in astrology, so I found parts of this book silly (side eyeing "the power of love").
