Come along on Mail Duck’s delivery route for a day full of lift-the-flap surprises!
Mail Duck is delivering differently shaped packages to all his friends on his mail route. (Trudy likes triangles, and Harry likes hearts!) Lift the flaps to peek inside and guess what each friend received. Then head back to the post office for a big surprise: a thank-you celebration for Mail Duck planned by all his pals using the various packages they received throughout the story! Sixteen flaps and a final double-gatefold spread give readers plenty of sweet and silly details to unpack in this charming board book.

Duck delivers presents to the animals in town, matching the box's shapes with the animal's favorite shape. Lift-the-flaps reveal houses full of the specified shape encouraging a delightful exchange between reader and listener as you explore the houses. Revealing the packages with each animal starts to form a pattern of items you would bring to a party--but who's party?
A darling lap-sit read that has a delightful story accompanied with detailed illustrations that encourage exploration.
I bought this from UBookstore on a whim and it's paid off in spades. My nephew loves this book and it takes just the right amount of time to get through before bedtime. If you read it straight through, it would obviously only take a few minutes, but we stop and talk on every page so it takes ten or so. The premise is simple--a mail delivery duck delivers a different-shaped package to an animal friend who enjoys that shape (e.g. Omar the Owl who loves ovals) Their houses match the shape and everything in their house is stuff that's the same shape too. In the end, all the packages add up to the makings of a party to celebrate everyone's friendship with the mail duck. Cute. Anyway, there are so many little details in the animal houses that we talk about olives with pimento, grandfather clocks, tiny spiders, a cactus in a flower pot, a litter box and air fresheners, etc. It's great to build a toddler's vocabulary and also to have conversations that pretty novel for a book in this age group.

I love this book. My daughter is 16 months and has been enjoying lifting the flaps. I wish she’d be a bit slower so I could look at all the things in the pictures. I can see that once she’s a bit older we can search for all the shapes in each picture. And when she needs something new, we can look for the odd item out in each home. There’s so much learning to do in this book, and the pictures are adorable!
Mail Duck has a mail truck filled with six differently shaped packages to deliver to six friends. Each friend loves a specific shape so the package's shape matches the shape of the friend's home and furnishings. This is a bright and colorful board book with fun lift-the-flaps that focuses on shapes and friendships. Pair with What's in the Box by Isabel Otter.
This book came out just as we were celebrating our delivery people and postal workers. So it's a great message for kids about appreciating your postal workers. It's so much fun to guess what is in each package. The character's designs are very cute and clever. The books is a fun and exciting way to learn about the different shapes. Highly recommended.
