Meet the young activist who stood up for her rights—and changed millions of lives

Before Malala Yousafzai (b. 1997) became the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, she was a girl fighting for her education in Pakistan. Growing up, Malala’s father encouraged her to be politically active and speak out about her educational rights. When she did, she was shot by a member of the Taliban and the story received worldwide media coverage. Protests and petitions from around the world helped to pass an educational-rights bill in Pakistan, and Malala used this platform to continue her activism and fight for women’s rights. Inspiring and moving, Malala Yousafzai tells the story of one girl’s bravery in her fight for equal rights. It includes a timeline, bibliography, glossary, and index.

Lisa was born in Nottingham in 1980. She spent most of her childhood drawing, daydreaming and making up stories in her head (but never getting round to writing them down). As a teenager she was bitten by the acting bug and at 19 moved to London to study drama at university.

Following graduation, Lisa adopted the stage name of Lisa Cassidy and spent several happy and chaotic years occasionally getting paid to pretend to be other people. Between acting roles she worked as an office temp and started making up stories all over again, only this time she had a go at writing them down.

Lisa lives in London, where she is lucky enough to split her time between writing and acting. In her spare time she reads a lot of books, continues to daydream and eats way too much ice cream.

This is a non fiction book all about the life of Malala from a baby to now. It is a biography about her explaining about the difficult times she has been through and to get the rights for girls to be educated in Pakistan and how the terrorists shot her but that didn’t stop her from carrying on and how she won the noble peace price award and how she was the 16th women to win it and the youngest person to win it. It is a really inspiring book for girls to read. So I would recommend it for anyone who is between the age of 10-15/16

Malala is about Malala Yousafzai who is shot in the head at age 15 after continuously trying to fight for girls rights to receive education.

Malala the main character I the youngest person to ever win the Noble peace prize. Malala is a very good public speaker and is very brave and will do anything for her rights even if it means being shot in the head.

The highlights of this movie were when she was in hospital and still not giving up and getting back up again to still try to win peace for girls.

My favourite part was when a man put a gun to her head and she still said that girl should receive the same education as boys and that girls aren't the only ones to do the work.

My least favourite part was they moved because it wasn't very interesting and it was a lot of explaining.

I would recommend this to others but it does get a bit scary for some younger ages. I would recommend this to year 6-8s.

I read this alongside my niece. What a helpful way to break down Malala's story and the history of these events. A brilliant introduction that doesn't shy away from the atrocities but does it in an age-appropriate way.
