This cute and whimsical tale of our porch pumpkins coming to life when the moonbeam’s magic hit was a rhyming good time. I loved reading it out loud and know my preschool class will love it!

The illustrations were the perfect accompaniment to the adorably child friendly story about Halloween Jack O’ Lanterns. Bold dark colors serve as a backdrop and make the cheery pumpkins eyes and mouths glow.

This is definitely a book I won’t mind re-reading whenever my class asks for it.

A great rhyming story for Halloween. When magic moonbeams touch a pumpkin, all kinds of fun begins. It was a really sweet and fun story. I think kids will love this one. Illustrations are colorful and whimsical. Highly recommended for Grades K-2.

PUMPKIN MAGIC is a fun Halloween romp, following pumpkins as they enjoy a night about town. When the moon hits just right, pumpkins come to life and enjoy themselves at contests, play, and even a fairy ball. At the end of the night, they go back to their houses and go to sleep - until the next night when the moon hits just right!

What I loved: This is a really fun Halloween read. The text rolls off the tongue so smoothly, with a great rhythm and rhyme. The story is made for children to giggle as the pumpkins get up to trouble and fun throughout the night. The illustrations are filled with cute jack-o-lanterns come to life in their cartoonish and delightful way. Each page includes full-page, colorful, and whimsical illustrations of the story come to life.

Although set at night, the font is printed white and clear on each page, making this easy to read even at bedtime. The illustrations are full of color, cute characters, and plenty of fun that are sure to charm young readers.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, there are some activities that will make children giggle, but they will be less enjoyed by parents, such as spitting contests and food fights.

Final verdict: A silly Halloween read, PUMPKIN MAGIC is a delightfully rhyming and whimsically illustrated picture book that children are sure to enjoy.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

1. No awards
2. K-1
3. In this story, a pumpkin takes a walk around the town, looking for his friends. After a night full of fun times with his pumpkin friends, the pumpkin goes back to his home, just in time for daytime.
4. I think this book is incredibly appropriate for young readers. There are bright pictures, rhyming words, and easy to read sentences included in this story.
5. This book would be great to read before Halloween, after reading, students could illustrate their own pumpkins and write about one place where their pumpkin would go with their pumpkin friends. Another use of this book would be to do a rhyming word activity that includes all of the rhyming words from the story.

My youngest son, now 5 years old, picks this almost nightly to read. Fun and rhythmical! Love the playful pictures as well.
