OMEGA QUEEN SERIES Discipline Bravery Courage Conquer Strength Validation
Wanita May grew up in the fruit belt of Ontario - St.Catharines. Crazy-happy childhood, she always has had a vivid imagination and loads of energy.
The youngest of six -- four older brothers, and a sister -- taught her at a young age to be competitive in all aspects of life.
At sixteen, she began competing in athletics (track and field) and before she turned seventeen, she was representing Canada in high jump. She continued to compete, breaking Canada's JR High Jump record (1.92m - 6' 3 1/2" for those metric-ly challenged). She attented University of Toronto, and Kansas State University - winning CIAU's and becoming All-American 6x - NCAA Indoors Runner Up + more.
But you're not interested in her athletic career - unless of course you're curious to know she stands 1.70m (5'7") and has jumped 20cm over her head on more than one occassion. She's represented Canada at the World Championships, World Jrs., won Francophone Games, and loved every minute of every competition. From the grueling workouts, the crazy weights she lifted on her back, the days she thought her lungs were going to spit out of her mouth for lack of oxygen, the travelling around the world and the opportunity to read - her favourite past time.
Life continued with her husband (a distance runner from Liverpool, UK, who she met at KSU) and then their first, then second and finally third child. Their house became full of more imagination and stories.
Wanita and her husband run an online business, dealing in antiques and collectables - particularly jewelry and porcelain (one of the business' website: www.wadeincanada.com ).
After her father passed away in 2009, from a six-year battle with cancer (which she still believes he won the fight against), she began to write again. A passion she'd loved for years, but realized life was too short to keep putting it off.
Her first book, Rae of Hope - from the Chronicles of Kerrigan - will be available October 2011 by kNight Romance Publishing.
She is currently represented by Dawn Dowdle of Blue Ridge Literary Agency. Wanita is a writer of Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction and where ever else her little muses take her.
“Three shall set out, though three shall not return To recover a stone from a land that won’t burn. Long they shall travel, for deep does it dwell To bring to the land either heaven or hell. They shall fall out of step in a land without time And toil in shadow where stars cannot shine. Old enemies prowl, for the dead never die But peace will prevail if the dragon can fly.”
Quote: In a blur motion he was standing back at the window, gazing out into the night sky. “Besides...who are we to stand in the way of destiny?”
Quote: When she took those first fateful steps, a blanket of bloody leaves crunching under her feet. There was no turning back now. The deed was done. Whether or not they could see it through? That was left to be seen.
Quote; “Yeah, I heard you,” he interrupted quickly, perfectly capable of listening all the way across the bar. “I think he’s right. Someone else must be pulling the strings.”
Quote: Then froze perfectly still. Back in the day it had been called Aluthan’s Hammer, named after the man who’d founded it. But now it was simply known as ‘the mine’.
Two crown princes and one crown princess set out into destiny to find a stone that can bring them all in darkness to destroy it. A vampire, a shapeshifter and a fae. Just like their parents. A nice fantasy young adult. I am hooked!
I reallly enjoyed the action in this book. For fantasy lovers. This book is FREE! on amazon!!! WARNING this book ends on a cliff hanger and you'll have to buy the rest of the series.
I love Ms. May's writing! Whatever world she dreams of reaches through the pages and grabs you by the front of your shirt, pulling you into the middle of the drama! This series is worth taking a look at Book 2, which I downloaded without hesitation, lack of Kindle Unlimited deterred me in NO way!
Some Authors are simply great storytellers, and give us the privilege of reading their work. Ms. May is one of those authors. Be encouraged, well done, KEEP WRITING!
I am not done reading this book, but I stop anyways. I just saw a comment that says this book has a cliffhanger at the end and I have so many books to read. I'm not buying any. The story is intriguing as 3 young people head out on their quest, but everything is taking too long. I'm skimming by thought trying to keep with the action. The 3 will be in a dangerous position and one of them starts thinking about the past 🤔 while they have knives at their throats...lol.. I'm glancing over the memory to make sure I'm not missing a point, but it is a point that has been explained and gone over a few times now. Despite that, I wouldn't mind skimming through and seeing how they fair on their quest. I'm sure they have a great many obstacles to overcome and growing up to do with their experiences ahead. The story does not end with this book though, so I am moving on.
To find a stone! Three friends snuck off in the dead of night to fulfill a prophecy and find a stone hidden in the Dunes. What they found was something sinister and took ten years from their lives. Once they awoke from the darkness their world had drastically changed but their quest had not—find the stone. A unique story line and full of adventure for three young adolescents. Many YA’s would love this epic tale. Perhaps they would not mind all the typos and bad grammar either. I still gave this a few stars because of the story itself and the adventure of it. Some of the situations were a little far fetched but interesting nonetheless.
I read the first three books by downloading for free, then they charge you $2.99 per “book” to continue the story. Kind of annoying. As for the book itself, it was an entertaining Young Adult fantasy read targeted at girls but with plenty of action and romance. It was light and passed the time.
Everly, Evie as she is called by her close friends and family, Asher and Elenden are three heirs to four different kingdoms. Evie is princesse to the kingdom of Wolves as well as the kingdom of Dragons by birth. Elenden is the prince of the Fae kingdom and Asher is the prince of the kingdom of Vampires.
They have known each other since the beginning of their lives, have played and trained for combat and all disciplines for as long.
During a banquet given to celebrate their teens, the palace is attacked and all three are sent away to ensure their safety. However, they are also attacked on the road to a safe place and vanquish their foes. It is at that time, that they decide to follow the clues written as a prophecy in order to secure some sort of artifact that, if the prophecy is accurate, will save the world.
This great author has written a story about three teens who go away without parental consent to pursue a goal that could benefit an entire world. There is treachery, adventure, doubts, battles, friendship and the determination to succeed that, through sheer discipline, could help them achieve their ultimate goal.
I highly recommend this book and rate it with 5 Stars.
This is a really good book. Should read it for sure. Want to read the 2nd one (Bravery) but for some reason I have to get it through Amazon, (I have kindle unlimited), and pay for it. Why?
A 1/2 shifter princess that can't shift, a fae prince swordsman, and a vampire embark on a dangerous journey to save the world. During the 25th anniversary celebration of their parents ending a war, Evie meets a witch who is overcome with a strange voice that Evie believes is a prophecy. At the feast, somebody poison's her parent's advisor. The teens are placed on a lockdown for safety. The following day they are to travel to Ellandren's home in Taviel until the assassin is found. However, Evie, Ellandren, and Asher have different plans and believe the prophecy is their destiny. The unpredictable plot is driven by the excellent character development. The majority of the story is seen through Evie's (Everlyn) point of view. Their personalities show their loyalty to go through each challenge they face. A undercurrent of possible romance adds tension to the novel. This a great start to the Omega Queen Series. The cliffhanger has me eager to read the sequel.
* Narrative Style: The third-person omniscient narrative is somewhat confusing in parts, because it is a close omniscient POV, which means that you get character's thoughts throughout, which are usually unattributed. In many cases, it's impossible to tell whose thoughts they are meant to be.
* Grammar and spelling: There were surprisingly few errors on this front.
* Plot: This story has a plot, but it also has an over-reliance on deus ex machina to resolve nearly every complication.
* Other: - This is one of those books which is not a full narrative. I suspect the first three books are actually one, because this one ends in the middle of a scene (actually, mid-scream).
- This story has the unfortunate tendency of jumping to a flashback/ back story in the middle of fight/ tense scenes. In one instance, it was extremely difficult to tell whether or not what was happening, was actually happening, or if it was back story. The opening scene opens with Evie sneaking out of her room to check in the spot where her mother received a prophecy, and from the way it was written, I'm still not entirely sure whether it happened when Evie was a child, or when she was 16. I thought it was present day, but the scene with her father made me think she was much, much younger.
