Re-Read
I liked the other books in the series so I thought I should give this another try.
Glad I did. I was very wrong. Heroine is a strong cutie pie, and the H is a brick wall to support her...once he's ditched the manwhore status.
In the beginning, the hero is a total STD walking manwhore which the heroine sees as well as hears, Yuck and 1 star.
But once he's in, he's a darn good protective hero for his little bitty scatty and likable heroine.

Bad Alibi by Jessica Prince is a sweet, small town romance. This is my first foray in Jessica’s books, and I am THRILLED I decided to take a chance on a new author. This book is pure perfection. If you’ve read any of the authors previous books, then I have to say LUCKY YOU! Experiencing her books are like falling in love for the first time. I wish I started reading her from the beginning because I can tell she’s going to be a top favorite author of mine going forward. Thankfully though, I can go back to the beginning and fulfill my needs with the rest of her novels. I may even be buying them in bulk paperbacks because of how much I LOVED this book. Sigh. I cannot recommend it enough!
If you’re a fan of the uber protective, alpha hero then Cannon is going to steal your heart. Cannon at first comes off as a playboy- he sleeps around, doesn’t stick with the same woman twice, and doesn’t see any one woman occupying his heart anytime soon. Typical hero one would think but he is so much MORE than this. Cannon may not THINK he wants love, but when the RIGHT woman walks into his life (Farah) he has no choice because the heart wants what it wants.
Farah is our struggling heroine. She may have more money than she’ll ever need in one lifetime but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s never had the love and affection that every person needs (especially when it comes to her cold parents). Not only this, she’s hiding a devastating secret that is slowly eating away at her. Readers will FEEL her struggles and want to dive right into the book and give her a hug. Luckily, in moving to Redemption, Farah finds more than just a beautiful small town to call home. She meets people she can confide in, friends she can trust, and even a man who has the potential to heal her shattered heart.
The way Cannon and Farah come together is absolutely beautiful. There are some emotional moments for sure, but this book is truly a work of art. I fell hard for these two and I can only imagine what the rest of the series is going to do to my heart and I seriously cannot WAIT. Ladies, if you miss out on this book your missing out on a gem! This is a sweet, powerful, and gorgeous read. I can’t wait for more!

First things first
I hate one starring a Jessica Prince book. I considered a two star "It's okay" but decided against it.
Bad Alibi was full of tired and overused tropes, themes, and devices. It was also reminiscent of earlier JP books with the same tired, overused tropes, themes, and devices.
Strengths: Great cover. Engaging writing style. Ingenue wasn't too ingenue
Weaknesses: Already listed elsewhere on this review
Note to Authors:
The manwhore/ingenue pairing is as ridiculous as it is overdone. Sexual experience for both parties is good. It's realistic.
However, sexually indiscriminate is the exact opposite of sexy. I'll say it again. Manwhores are *not* sexy.
Helpful hint: an on page suggestion of a main character having a sexual history is perfectly adequate. No page time detailing sexual escapades with pointless-to-the-plot randos is necessary.
In a bizarre attempt to make the heroine "speshul" you are delivering heroes that are "skeezy".

Farah Highland was raised with more money than most people could ever dream of, but she only felt accepted and loved from her brother and the family driver who has been more of a parent to her than her biological parents, who have disowned her for daring to live her life based on her own decisions. Determined to start living for herself, Farah cuts ties with the past and moves to the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. Notorious town playboy, Cannon Banks grew up living a life encased with love and affection, when he meets Farah he knows he wants her and can tell she is attracted to - and yet she avoids him and pulls away.
I would have liked this way more if it wasn't for some of the hero's actions, one action in particular led to a long ewww from me -
I think the PTSD the heroine experienced could have been dealt with/integrated into the story more potently. Also wish there had been a epic scene where Farah's parents had been verbally ripped to shreds.….Still a read that had me engaged and wanting to know what would happen next.

This is really good.
It does have similarities to Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley and it has the same feel.
Cannon and Farah. We met Cannon in the Hope Valley series.
Load of potential for stories of secondary characters in series.
I wasn't keen on the visceral reaction the heroine has to the Hero when he is present esp as at times he's either with another woman or just had sex with another woman but there is a reason the author wants it to be remarkable the heroine has feelings she hasn't felt in a long time.
Heroine has exdrama with her ex fiancé.
For the safety gang.
She moves to town and sees him with several women before they get together, he is described to her by others as the 'town dawg with a capital D'. She is also told he has at times had one woman who he is faithful too, he's no cheat but it's not lasted long.
There are only detailed intimate scenes with the Hero and heroine though she sees a couple of occasions while she is working at the local bar, him leave with other women and while at the bar there are different occasions where women are crawling all over him.
She also overhears a couple having sex, grunts and moans and later realises it the Hero and another woman, she is passing their room at the Inn.
For me there was a real ick factor here, he uses a pet name for her and seems to be expressing interest and he's just had sex with another woman and doesn't ever seem to see that's not okay esp as he claims later shes different to the other women and special.
No cheating.
Small pushing away.
Once the Hero is committed to her no looking, flirting with others.

Farah Highland grew up with all the money in the world as well as all the strings attached to it. After an incident has her reevaluating what she wants in life and decides to break ties with everyone but her brother and the only man she looks up to who worked for her family. She heads to the Smoky Mountains and finds a home for herself. Not wanting to sit idly she gets a job as a waitress at Bad Alibi where she sees Cannon Banks.
Cannon has the reputation of a player, he beds women and moves onto the next. He sees Farah and wants her but she is skittish, he decides to bide his time but then he learns who she really is and decides she is not worth it. Farah though surprises him at every turn and Cannon realizes she is the one person he can't let go.
This was the best book I have read by this author so far. I loved every moment of the roller coaster of emotions this book put me through. Farah is a an inspirational character who is so accepting of others and yet can be a firecracker when needs arise. Cannon oozes alpha male through each page whether it is with just a look or action, he is intense and perfect for Farah. Excellent read.

This book made me happy. I enjoyed it, hence the high rating. Don't you just think small towns romances give you a warm feeling in your stomach? 🥺🥺 Loved this one. This had some Angst 💔💔 in it but otherwise it was quite wholesome.

If I’m going to start of my year with a five star read, it seems fitting that it’s from Jessica Prince because she’s never fails to suck me into her worlds.
Bad Alibi is the start of a brand new series with brand new characters. You could say it’s a spin off from her Hope Valley series which also happens to be my fav series of hers to date. The redemption series might just challenge that however.
Bad Alibi checks off all my must haves when it comes to romance. With a smoking hot hero who’s got that bad boy vibe to a heroine that is independent with a little bit of sass, this story had me feeling those feels I crave.
I instantly felt the connection between the two MCs in this. And wanted to know where this story was headed. I always want at least a little bit of angst with my romances, for whatever reason I like to have those moments where I feel my heart drop a little and Jessica definitely delivered.
And the secondary characters in this one also have very quickly grabbed my attention. One of the things, Prince does so well with her stories is set the stage for the next books. I’m craving stories from so many other characters already.
Once again another amazing read from Jessica Prince. She’s one of my go to’s for a very good reason.
If you love small town romances this book is right up your alley. Hell if you love romance this book is right up your alley.

I have to confess that I have a hard time with Jessica Prince books. They're really shallow. Does anyone else pick that up? The characters are bland. I know they're talking, but all I hear is blah, blah, blah. So we have Farah the h, umm... sorry let's change that to Saint Farah. Comes from money. Can do no wrong. Loves everyone. Ready to spread her money around, perfection, and she has slight BBS everytime she sees the H Cannon. Cannon is a typical Jessica Prince hero. Manwhore ways. Not ready to settle down etc. But this was not angsty at all. I don't know. I just find her writing to be boring. 🙈 The blurbs always sound great, but once I start I'm left wanting to be honest. Look I love small town romance. Especially second chance small town romance considering I'm from a small town, but I feel like authors are dropping the ball. I'm still going to try other works from this author because everyone keeps saying their good. Hopefully I'll find one that'll keep my interest.

Bad Alibi is the book 1 in The Redemption series by Jessica Prince. This is a spin-off of The Hope Valley series and it's set in a small biker town. This is Farah and Cannon's story.
Without giving anything away, this is such a complex, emotional, endearing, beautiful, sizzling, intense, amazing, sweet story that will have you rooting for the main characters in this read. There is some crossover from the Hope Valley series/characters but this is a new series and a standalone. It's amazing and I loved the chemistry between Farah and Cannon. You have to literally experience this story , the rollercoaster ride of ups and downs/ highs and lows and highs to get how brilliant the writing and characters are. Without giving anything away, this is such a complex, emotional, endearing, beautiful, sizzling, intense, amazing, sweet story that will have you rooting for the main characters in this read. There is some crossover from the Hope Valley series/characters but this is a new series and a standalone. It's amazing and I loved the chemistry between Farah and Cannon. You have to literally experience this story , the rollercoaster ride of ups and downs/ highs and lows and highs to get how brilliant the writing and characters are. I enjoyed the plot, characters , feels, small town feeling, and the beautiful romance that comes the readers way. I look forward to the next book in the series next (book 2).

This is really good.
It does have similarities to Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley and it has the same feel.
Cannon and Farah. We met Cannon in the Hope Valley series.
Load of potential for stories of secondary characters in series.
I wasn't keen on the visceral reaction the heroine has to the Hero when he is present esp as at times he's either with another woman or just had sex with another woman but there is a reason the author wants it to be remarkable the heroine has feelings she hasn't felt in a long time.
Heroine has exdrama with her ex fiancé.
For the safety gang.
She moves to town and sees him with several women before they get together, he is described to her by others as the 'town dawg with a capital D'. She is also told he has at times had one woman who he is faithful too, he's no cheat but it's not lasted long.
There are only detailed intimate scenes with the Hero and heroine though she sees a couple of occasions while she is working at the local bar, him leave with other women and while at the bar there are different occasions where women are crawling all over him.
She also overhears a couple having sex, grunts and moans and later realises it the Hero and another woman, she is passing their room at the Inn.
For me there was a real ick factor here, he uses a pet name for her and seems to be expressing interest and he's just had sex with another woman and doesn't ever seem to see that's not okay esp as he claims later shes different to the other women and special.
No cheating.
Small pushing away.
Once the Hero is committed to her no looking, flirting with others.
Triggers.
The heroine was raped in the past, she has nightmares which never describe the actual act but the fear and initial attack are described in dreams. And she retells the event once to a girlfriend, it included violence with a knife, life threatening injuries, small details, very brief.

Every time I read a Jessica Prince book I have the same feeling...it's a mixture of belonging and wanting that is so strong it seriously takes over and I devour the story. Every. Time. What also happens is wanting to scream from the rooftops that EVERYONE should read Ms. Prince's books. I can't explain how I melt into the comfort of her words. The stories unfold in a way that connects me so intimately with each experience, each character, with such a sense of strength and conviction I just fall head over heels in love. With. Every. Single. One. I am so excited we have a new town, new players, and people surrounding the story that I want BIG things for. I LOVE IT. As always, thank you Ms. Prince for allowing us to enter these worlds and let these characters into our hearts. It is SO appreciated.

This is a spin-off of The Hope Valley series (one of my favorite series) and after reading the first book I know this series is going to be my favorite too.
Farah Highland is in Redemption to start a new life. Growing up her insanely rich parents were cold and cruel. She’s leaving everything behind to start living for herself.
Love Farah’s character. She was strong but also very sweet.
We met Cannon Banks in Out of Darkness.
He’s a playboy and lives his live without commitment.
But when he sees the beautiful Farah across the room he is intrigued and very interested in her.
Cannon was hot!! But he was also very protective of Farah. Love his character.
Love the secondary characters in this book and can’t wait where this series will take us. Hope that Jase’s book is next.

Bad Alibi kicks off a brand new series from Jessica Prince. This time it's a small biker town setting, Farah Hyland is starting over, she never liked the lifestyle of her upbringing. Even as privileged as she was, she didn't care for it. She also had a traumatic event that pushed to her to live as she wants. Coming into town she buys this old run down house that she deems a fixer upper. When she walks into Bad Alibi bar that has a job opening she sees it as a sign. I was interested so far where this would go.
In a similar way to the Hope Valley series as a newcomer she encounters a lot of the townsfolk. They treat her nicely which she never had except for her brother and family driver. Ok that's a bit much but not so far fetched. Meeting the town resident hot guy Cannon Banks also known as woman magnet he is the first to catch her attraction after a long time.
So it goes they don't get along too well at first but then Cannon turns out to be really good to her and she's tentatively not sure about it at first. I wasn't too keen on Cannon's reputation swept under the rug when feelings started but I get why it moved on fast. Since a lot of drama ensues with Farah's ex and her past trauma comes back up.
Just a little caution that it may be a trigger point Farah's trauma involves sexual assault and there are some nightmares and will not so graphic it might not be for some. It's brought up dealing with that and her new relationship, it was done with sensitivity I feel. This had the signature style of the author for the sweet kind heroine with a past and the hero a guy who makes her see her worth. Still pretty good and an easy read for me content wise. Cannon and Farah was a good match even with them being opposites at the start. The next book has a hint already and it seems like a good one.

A new series to deeply love!
It's incredible the power this author has to hook and enchant the reader.
She is a true story teller and her characters are potent and adicting.
This is the first book in a series of standalone. Kind of like Hope Valley series, featuring a small town (Redemption), adorable, funny and loyal citizens, lots of love and chemistry and a dash of suspense.
In this book, we get the story of Cannon (we've met him in Out Of The Darkness) and Farah.
In paper, they could be polar opposites. But when they are together, all their differences and similarities dont matter.
That's because their feelings speak way louder than what could come in between them.
They are from different worlds, him being comfortable in his, her running away from hers, only to crash in his world and fall in love (with it and with him).
Him knowing what is like to have loving friends and family. Her only being loved by two people.
But even with their different backgrounds, they both love with everything they've got, they are loyal and ready to jump at everything to help someone.
They both cant deny their feelings and chemistry.
Cannon and Farah touched me so deeply. I couldnt unglue my eyes from their words and their story.
I felt like I was hungry and they were this delicious meal I couldnt have enough and was finished way too fast.
I'm already starving for them.

Farah came to Redemption for a fresh start. She grew up hearing stories of the town so when she decided to leave her old life it seemed like the place to go. All she wants to do is work to keep her hands busy, restore her house, and find out who she is and what she likes. What she didn’t expect was Cannon. Jessica Prince has done it again! Easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given. I absolutely adored Cannon and Farah’s story. You get all the feels while reading this book. I laughed. I cried. I yelled.
We first meet Cannon in Out of the Darkness. Cannon comes off as your typical alpha - sexy & sinful - but turns out he just hasn’t met the right woman to bring him to his knees.
I LOVED Farah’s character! She went through a traumatic experience that should have made her weak and untrusting. Instead, she came out of it a total badass. Her sweet personality never faltered.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it! You will fall in love with the town and people of Redemption.

Let me start by saying that if you have read and enjoyed the ‘Hope Valley’ series of this writer than you will love this story ‘Bad alibi’ (and the new series ‘Redemption’) too! It has the same vibe to it as the ‘Hope Valley’ series. You don’t have to read the ‘Hope Valley’ series first to read this book.
I discover this writer (Jessica Prince) through the ‘Hope Valley’ series and it’s one of my favourite series. So I was very looking forward to her new series ‘Redemption’ and especially the first book ‘Bad alibi’. Just like the books in her ‘Hope Valley’, this story too had a ‘Kristen Ashley’ feeling to it. And being a big fan of the writer Kristen Ashley, that made me very glad but this time it also made me a little bit conflicted on the story. Because one of my favourite story of KA is ‘Sweet dreams’ and this story reminded me a bit of that story and that made that I couldn’t really loose myself completely into the story. What was sad because ‘Bad alibi’ is a great story and I’m sure that if I read if for the second time, I will enjoy it more because than I will already know what is coming. I don’t say that this book is a copy of ‘Sweet dreams’ but if you are like me and you have read a book so many times that you know what is coming out of your head, you do (unwillingly) compare stories that has the same feel to it.
So now about the story itself, like it said, I enjoyed it very much. Farah was such a wonderful character, strong in her own way, sweet, caring, thoughtful, gentle and kind-hearted. She may come from a rich background but she certainly didn’t acted like a rich, spoiled woman. No! She’s a very warm woman, who’s looking for a home, love and friends. And I’m so happy that she found that in this small town! Cannon’s character was great too, alpha, respectful, interesting, protective and sexy. I liked the chemistry between Farah and Cannon and their interaction with the secondary characters. Their family and friends were fantastic too. I really loved them. You really felt the love, the friendship, the connection between everyone. I can’t wait to read more about them in the next books. In this story we got both POV’s (but a bit more of Farah than Cannon).

After meeting Cannon and company in Out of the Darkness, I was crossing my toes that we’d get to see them again. So to say I was all kinds of excited when the Redemption series was announced AND that Cannon was up on the chopping block of love first, is an understatement. I was THRILLED and this book does not disappoint. It hit all my romance buttons in best of ways and has given me a whole new set of characters to get to know!
Farah and Cannon. I adored these two. Farrah is strong and sassy. She’s been through more than most could ever imagine but has come out of it with a truly golden soul and the determination to live her life on her own terms and I loved watching as she evolved into the woman she always wanted to be. Cannon is a charmer. The man could melt kevlar with his silver tongue, but he has a heart of gold.
Cannon and Farah’s journey to their HEA was a fun one. They both have their moments ~ some were funny, some had me wanting to reach out and Gibbs smack some sense into them ~ but I loved watching how they worked things out and got to know each other and find that they actually fit pretty well together. Their bantering was a lot fun, the smexy was hot and I loved how everything worked out for them in the end.
This was a great read. The writing was engaging, pacing good and I enjoyed the dual first person POV’s. There are a few issues that arise that some may be triggered by, but they were handled well and were very much pertinent to the growth of the characters. And then there are the secondary characters...seriously, this one is chock full of people I NEED to get to know better. Bev, Darla, Buck, Shane, Poppy, Bennett, Jace, Banks. Clay...they all brought Redemption to life and I cannot wait to go back!

Oh, wow, another great series starts from Jessica Prince! Bad Alibi is book #1 in the Redemption series, a spin-off of the Hope Valley series. We first met Cannon in Out Of The Darkness, as he's Sage's ex/best friend from her hometown.
Farrah is a Connecticut socialite who sets out to make a new life for herself after a brutal, life-changing incident. She left behind her uptight parents and cheating ex-fiancé, escaping to the small Tennessee town that her family's driver Bennett (and father figure) had once called home. Although she's not looking for a relationship, Farrah catches the eye of local mechanic Cannon -- who has quite a reputation around town for being a player. But despite her not wanting a relationship, and him not doing a relationship, their friendship turns into quite a steamy romance.
There are some cute scenes with Sage and Xander from Out Of The Darkness, and Sage really kicks Cannon's butt into gear when it comes to making things up to Farrah. I love how Farrah is a fish out of water, but slowly finds that Redemption is the pool she was meant to thrive and swim freely in as she makes new friends and creates her own family. This story is full of laugh-out-loud moments, a crazy cat named Crash, and a manwhore who falls to his knees for the love of a good woman, but Bad Alibi also deals with a rather sensitive trigger subject, and Jessica Prince does it so well. There is a reason that I adore this author, and this book is just an example of why. It is a spinoff of the Hope Valley series, which if someone hasn't read it then they need to asap. I loved that series but have a funny feeling that this one is going to beat that one. This book has all of the things that this author is known for; strong characters, great plot, just the right amount of steam, and secondary characters that make this feel like family.
Cannon was first introduced in Xander and Sage's story but he is so much more in this one. He had a feel like a Kristen Ashely hero (and God knows how much I LOVE KA), and in truth the whole story felt like her which made me love them even more. Cannon was perfect and once he got his head out of his butt and realized that he had met his one he stopped at nothing to make sure that his girl was good. Goodness knows she deserved it. Farah was such a joy and a remember to not judge a book by its cover because although she didn't look like someone who might have adapted to life in Redemption it was exactly where she needed to be. I loved that the author chose this as the name of the city. it was perfect considering everything that is in the background of this story.
I look forward to the next characters and where this author takes me next. I know it will be a great and memorable ride.

He had a feel like a Kristen Ashely hero (and God knows how much I LOVE KA), and in truth the whole story felt like her which made me love them even more. Cannon was perfect and once he got his head out of his butt and realized that he had met his one he stopped at nothing to make sure that his girl was good. Goodness knows she deserved it. Farah was such a joy and a remember to not judge a book by its cover because although she didn't look like someone who might have adapted to life in Redemption it was exactly where she needed to be. I loved that the author chose this as the name of the city. it was perfect considering everything that is in the background of this story.
I look forward to the next characters and where this author takes me next. I know it will be a great and memorable ride.

Cannon is the BEST kind of main man to read about. This guy is the definition of alpha, strong and independent. My gosh, if you cannot tell I totally have a crush on the guy! Farrah is pretty awesome herself, walking away from the only life she ever knew and settling in Redemption to change everything- super commendable. This leading lady is not a shrinking wallflower, she is strong and giving and deserves the best-- Cannon sees this as well....
AHHH, I have always liked Jessica Prince and this intro to her new Redemption series is one to get excited about. It has her trademark alpha male, strong women, and some crazy stuff happening in between, which makes it even sweeter! If you are looking for a book that has those aspects, you need to read Bad Alibi right away! 5 stars from me- when is the next book out?!?!
