Diana Hemway has spent the last five years recovering from the horrific attack that made her a mother and being disowned by her family. She's done everything in her power to give her son a life filled with love like he deserves, and only wishes she could have the same. She hopes her new job at Thorne Inc. will provide more stability and opportunities that could benefit her and Eli. What she didn’t plan for was Pierce.
Pierce Thorne is as antisocial as they come. A workaholic who allows no one in his life, and he’s completely satisfied with that. Until he meets Diana and Eli and realizes how lonely and miserable he was without them.
In each other, they find something they’ve both been longing for. Their Salvation.
But their relationship is tested when a theft inside Thorne Inc. brings forth old enemies, Diana’s disgruntled family, and secrets. Will they be strong enough to weather the storm bearing down on them?
Warning: This book touches on topics that could be triggers for some readers. The main character is a rape victim. No details are written on the topic.
Warning: Sweet, sexy and safe read! Happily ever after guaranteed! This author writes what she likes to read. That means there will be instalove, OTT Heroes, and, brace yourselves, virgin characters at times. If none of those float your boat, you might want to find another book. If they do, you're in the right place.

Such a great little story. Perfect length (just a little over 100 pages)
-no ow/om drama at all -instalove -grumpy hero who is pure sugar to heroine -zero pushing away -not extremely steamy -no violence during story (heroine had been raped prior to the story. No actual details) -safe - noone else after meeting each other and both long celibate -good epilogues
The heroine is a rape victim and her son is the consequence of that rape.
I am sorry if I sound heartless but I really do not understand why one would willingly keep the child of her rapist. That's a forever reminder of a horrible experience.
The writing in this one was much improved from her previous works. I love to see that as a new author gets a few books under her belt. The H and h were both good MCs and the storyline was good even being a novella.
I'm not sure why, but the storytelling doesn't click well with me.
As for the story it's insta everything since it's a novella. It was pretty quick, straightforward, and a safe read, so at least we have that.
Overall, I guess it's okay enough to kill some time. It didn't get my interest but might work for someone else.
Book info: - Workplace romance - Age gap (h24/H35) - Single mom - Mention of SA (not detailed) - Insta-love - No cheating, OM/OW, separation - No V (Clibacy: h - almost 6 yrs (since her attack), H - almost a decade) - HEA (5 yrs later, married with 3 kids)
☆ Dual pov ☆ H celibate for 10 years (only slept with a couple and has never gone down on someone) ☆ h celibate/virgin (depending on your opinion - she was SA'd and became pregnant, and that was her only experience with anything sexual - she still acts like a virgin during her encounters with H) ☆ No cheating or OW/OM drama ☆ HEA ending + epilogue
Fast paced. Sweet. Heartwarming. Slightly cheesy novella.
If the author took her time to make this a proper long book, I guarantee it would have been a major hit.
💔 MFC is a SA victim which resulted in pregnancy ❤️🩹 MFC disowned by her parents and is brandished a tarnished woman ❤️🔥 MMC is a grumpy businessman tycoon, former military, a loner, hates people 💝 MFC is practically a virgin (her only sexual experience if it can be called that is the rape) 🤎 MMC is celibate for a decade 🖤 MMC is jealous of anyone looking at her 💘 Instant infatuation
Great story. Very little steam, but definitely still worth the read. Safety: She was raped at 18 and had her son. It's not descriptive, but it is mentioned a couple of times. Great read. https://storiesinreview971130128.word...

This is the first book that I have read by May Gordon and it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed this story. It was everything that I love in an insta love romance. Pierce is a great OTT alpha male and Diana is beyond strong. Raising her child that was conceived through rape is incredibly brave and selfless. I don’t think I would be able to do it. There were a few spelling issues and grammatical mistakes but nothing to distracting. This story is completely safe. There is no description of the rape, it’s just mentioned. That is the heroine’s only sexual experience and the hero has been celibate for more than 10 years!
This is the first book in the Bosses in Love series by May Gordon. I first read Dark Souls by this author and I really liked it so I went back to see what else she had and found this little gem. Although I do wish she would finish one series before going onto another one. Pierce Thorne is 35 years old and the founder and CEO of Thorne Incorporated. He may operate a billion dollar company but he is definitely not a people person. Diana was born into a very prestigious family in Chicago, at eighteen she started at the University of Chicago because that’s what her father wanted. Shortly after starting school she’s raped by an unknown attacker and weeks later discovers she’s pregnant. Her scumbag parents disown her when she refuses to abort her baby. Five years later Diana is 23 years old and she has a five year old son named Eli. When Diana starts working in the accounting department at Thorne Inc. Pierce finds himself wanting to spend all his time with her. This book was really sweet and Pierce was great especially the way he was with Eli.
Sweet and Safe Read. I loved Diana and Pierce's story. Watching them grow into a loving family when they both had no one to look up to in that aspect. Eli made a great addition to the story and helped change Pierce's out look on life.
-safe read -both celibate for a really long time -no sexual abuse in the actual story. h was raped before the story started but very little detail about it. -no ow/om drama -good epilogues (1 month and 5 years)
I absolutely enjoyed this book. Another safe author. I loved the way Pierce reacted to Diana the minute he saw her. I love how he spoiled her and Eli. One beautiful family. And holy smokes. That twist at the end.... wow
This was a puffy cotton candy type of a book. But the characters were just cardboard cutouts. The plot moves along because the chapter heading says "one week later" and the h tells us, "Pierce and I have become very close". So basically all tell, no show.
The rape of the heroine isn't handled in any meaningful way. She suffers from no aftereffects and has had no counseling. During her first sexual experience with the H, she suffers from no flashbacks and has no reservations. So why include a heavy topic only to brush over it?
The OTT ending deteriorated with the obvious villains out of nowhere.
This is the kind of book I don't mind wasting my time with on KU, but for cash, it was pretty bad.
3.4 stars. This was like a lot of other novella's. The story line was pretty good, but it had a few negatives. -lots of errors -Every guy wants her other things like insta love and things just being solved so easily. But what took a star off the book for me was when he ordered a hit on her attacker and never told her who the guy was or that he had him murdered. It just didn't really fit in with the rest of the book.

This was such a sweet and beautiful story. I love the characters and how the story flowed. Great characters, Pierce, Diana and her son, Eli. I love finding new to me authors with such amazing books. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
A quick, steamy read between Diana and Pierce. An instalust/love story. Add in a cute 5 year old and you have a gorgeous story. Could not put this one down!!
Very Insta. Sweet devoted, jealous possessive OTT Hero. No cheating. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Hero has been celibate for at least a decade. Trigger warning, heroine was raped in the past and fell pregnant so has a son. There are no details of the attack, it happened in the past. Prologue starts with her son's birth. Chapter 1 starts five years later. HEA. Epilogue.
The blurb might make some people hesitant to pick up, but it was a super great read! I loved the couple, both Diana and Peirce were solid and loved one another instantly even before they let go of their past, it was sweet to see how the H took to being all in with Diana and her son immediately. It was also a warming read throughout because no matter the suspense or ppl who are evil ( cough her parents = scum... And even that is insulting to scum...), But throughout it all they worked it together not letting it turn into nothing that would come between them. I loved that about the story, I also really enjoyed seeing a heroin who was above average intelligent, and was able to rise to show how despite her not have an "Ivy league education" she was so after than those who did in her filed ... Something the 'boss reflected on in his thoughts as being impressed with that fact, not looking down on, which was awesome to read! Loved this story and this couple! ( the trigger warning is in place to let you know of back story, but doesn't disturb the sweetness of the story, )
I found this author through a recommendation and I only have one more of hers to read before I’ve exhausted her current available books. Each book has a common theme - sweet affection, instalove, alpha male, smart woman, celibate/virgin heroine, celibate hero/virgin hero, passionate but not overly erotic love scenes, someone is kidnapped (including the hero lol) a bad guy is always waiting in the wings, never any om/ow scenes, pregnancy, older man/younger woman by an average of 12 years, epilogues that span years. Each book is fairly short - about an hours worth of reading but there is plenary of story packed in there. They could use more editing since there are several missing words, misspelled words, or wrong words used (grown instead of groan) Overall, though I’ve read them all back to back, I never got bored and eagerly jumped into the next. If this author keeps up with what she has going on I see great things in her future. Definitely recommend
I really enjoyed this one. I have never read a book by this author. This was sweet, low angst, alpha male goodness. Diana went through a terrible ordeal, but she came out on top and now all she cares about is her son and making a good home for him. So she gets a job at Pierce Thorne's company, and her first day on the job she finds out something is embezzling from his company. Pierce Thorne is the owner and founder of the billionaire dollar company and he doesn't like people. Until he meets Diana. Now he can't help wanting to spend all his time with her. But things are not all hunky dory. Someone is embezzling from his company and the closer they get to the answers the more in danger they are.
I really enjoyed this one. Pierce was a take no nonsense kind of hero and would do anything to protect the women he loves. And Diana she was an amazing heroine that you can't help admiring. Will definitely look into more of this authors books
Re-read this gem last night and I gotta sadly say forgot how amazing this book is. Grumpy and moody H who is soft and sweet only to the h and her son. Great characters. And the story is written so very well. For those who have abuse triggers, this may not be for them... BUT having said that, this author writes in such a way that it may be tolerable. There is NO description or details whatsoever about the abuse that the h suffered (prior to beginning of book). Please give this a try if you haven't already. -neither are virgins, both celebate -h has child from abuse she suffered (again, prior to book beginning and no details given) -OTT, growly, alpha H who only has soft spot for h and her son. -no cheating -some angst I fully and completely recommend this gem!!
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book for BMBB.
3.5 stars
This was a quick sweet read. I liked the interaction between Pierce and Diana, but more so the way Pierce treated Eli. It's not often I read a book anymore with take charge alpha male types that aren't a..holes half the time, so this was very refreshing. Despite the shortness of the story, I still felt a nice amount of connection and heartbreak for the characters.
There's not much more to say about it, Other than that it's an easy sweet read, that for me feel like the perfect books in between some of the heavier books I read sometimes.
°Non virgin MCs °Switching POVs °Single mom °Heroine's been celibate for almost 6 years °Hero's been celibate for at least 10 years °Heroine is 24, the hero is 35 °Both faithful after meeting °Insta love/lust °Sweet grumpy protective OTT alpha hero °No separation °No cheating °Free of OW/OM drama °Intimate scenes only between hero and heroine °No push/pull °Epilogue: one month and 5 years later
This book had a good premise and started off promising but it lost its way. It moved too quickly and I wasn't able to believe their insta love. Maybe if the book was longer and they took time to build up to their relationship, I maybe would have liked it more. The one thing that really annoyed me was the h's constant giggling at everything it drove me crazy. Maybe if the author made a longer book and but a stronger storyline I would possibly read her again.
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author. Diana is a survivor of a horrific attack, which left her with consequences of a beautiful little boy. Pierce is an antisocial, workaholic, who does not realize how bad he is until Diana comes to work at his company. This is a beautifully written story which is en engaging page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this author, and recommend her work for all readers.
