Personable and sometimes exasperating Junior High kids give this book lots of energy and personality. The principles of magic mentioned in the title are complex and intriguing, with some features I've never encountered in fantasy fiction before. If you're thirteen-ish, you should enjoy this debut novel from a creative author.
