I lived my life in temporaries.

Temporary relationships. Temporary production contracts. Temporary lengths of time in different locations around the world.

No ties. No strings.

That was better for everyone.

Except, Pierce didn’t see it that way, didn’t understand we’d had our temporary fun and it was time to move on. Fifteen years my junior, Pierce was a talented young director, lovely on both the inside and out, great sense of humor, and frankly, he had the best set of abs I’d ever seen on any human. But the key word in the previous statement was young.

And circling back to temporary.

Except, Pierce had gotten it into his head that he didn’t want temporary. He wanted me and not just in his bed.

He wanted me in his life . . . permanently.

The scariest part? I was worried I might want that too.

Fans of the older woman/younger man theme will enjoy much about this lengthy journey to HEA. Featuring a strong-willed woman unafraid of going after what she wants, but who hides behind a painful past, readers will find themselves rooting her on as she starts a relationship with a much younger man. It’s a young man who’s wise beyond his years and who’s committed to claiming his heart’s desire the moment he meets her in a journey full of steaminess and sweetness that kept me turning the pages non-stop. While there’s nothing unexpected in this story, there’s still plenty to enjoy in a tale with a likable main couple, witty banter, and sizzling interactions.

Artemis Lang is a commanding presence who has no problem with things that are temporary...both jobs and men. She makes no excuses for living her life the way she does either. The moment she meets younger man Pierce though she finds her way of living in conflict with him. It’s clear she’s drawn to him from the start, even clearer because of their unforgettable one night stand, but it’s a lengthy journey for them as she has to work through a painful past and her damaging preconceived notions about relationships. Because of the charming Pierce though it’s a journey full of fun and flirtiness, a journey of friends to lovers, and with each exchange the smile on my face grew bigger.

Pierce Daniels is a delightful hero, both sweet and sexy. He may be young in years but he’s a wise man when it comes to matters of the heart. He’s full of life and doesn’t let something as inconsequential as age stand in the way of getting his heart’s desire. It’s that desire that keeps him by Artie’s side no matter how often she tries to push him away and his efforts endeared him to me wholeheartedly. His family too were just as open-minded and their interactions with Artie made her a part of the family which warmed my heart. Pierce is a delicious hero and the highlight of the story for me, a highlight that I’m still thinking of as I get ready to dream at night.

On a whole this was a satisfying romance. Though I wish it wouldn’t have taken Artie six years to fully embrace her HEA, I was still captivated by the journey Ms. Faber put forth. I enjoyed the witty banter and constant sexual tension, while being equally grateful by their relationship being light on the angst which made this an easy read to while away the hours with. By the turn of the final page this ended up being another well-crafted romance from Ms. Faber and I look forward to where she’ll take us next!

Cougar Book 2 in The Chauvinist Stories Series by Elise Faber is an Older woman/younger man story that is a steamy, emotional read. Book 2 is Artemis/Artie and Pierce's story.
She is 15 years older than he is. When the story first starts, he is 22 years old and it's instant connection/attraction between them. They fall into this intoxicating world of lust, passion, excitement, feels, steamy moments but soon what turned into a night of passion is brought to a stop by one of them because of fears over the age gap. The other doesn't let that stop them and this is their story- Cougar🐆
What a beautiful story full of feels, romance, passion, excitement, humor, angst, twists, family, friendships, and the best HEA. I look forward to more in this series.

My Rating: 4.4 stars *******

This book had me at the title! I mean how can you not want to read Book 2 in The Chauvinist Stories Series especially when it's called “Cougar”? Once again Elise Faber has me hook, line and sinker. This book is everything. Pierce is everything. Artie is everything. It.Is.Everything.
You will fall head over heels for Pierce. He is the sweetest, most honest, loving main character ever. He may be young but he is smart. Smart enough to know when he’s met the woman of his dreams and does not let something as insignificant as age deter him. Artie is beautifully damaged and is stronger for it. Together, together, they are reading pleasure at its very best. TBR this fantastic read and enjoy.

Artie is a successful producer whose past has ensured that although she isn’t looking for a relationship that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t enjoy men. She only spent one night with Pierce but she still hasn’t forgotten him or the way he made her feel and a friendship developed between them.

After one night with Artie, Pierce knew that it would never be enough. He doesn’t care about the difference in their ages and is determined to show her that she can depend on him and trust him with her heart.

Heat, humor and heart combine into a compelling story as Pierce helps Artie heal from her past so that they can have a future together.

So I actually started this 4/14, clearly - and I read it maybe 4/15 => I tend to start reading at like 2 AM so ... :X there is that.
ANYWAY either the day I picked it up or the next day I put it down - it just wasn't engaging me enough and there were too many other books and the world and ...

Anyway so I read a bunch of others and wanted to get back to a sexy contemporary.
I'd gotten to past 50% - maybe like 55% or something, read to ~63%? And started like ... fastreading. I was reading all the words but not carefully focused. Not quite skimming though, if that makes sense.

BECAUSE. :\ Again - I thought I was going to have a strong kickass woman heroine. Instead ... she's a giant fucking mess. She's been controlled by her past (I mean it is bad? But also literally thousands if not hundreds of thousands of kids have the same history.... AND SHE EVEN SAYS IT ) - other than her life /history was in the spotlight ... so yeah that is rough.

But what annoyed me is low key - like the past 3 other Elise Faber books I've read, the heroine ~depends on the hero to fix her.
[WHY DID SHE NOT GET THERAPY IN BETWEEN? - though she doesn't get it "after" meeting him/getting in a relationship with him...] - it doesn't say she WASN'T in therapy but ... if she was clearly she wasn't in it enough.

I'm just ... bleh.

Elise Faber is churning out the same books with the same story and the same plot and the same character with just the trappings different.
Which makes me so sad because the earlier books I read were distinctive and great.
And now they're pretty cookie cutter, and just manufactured wangst. *sigh*

I mean I DID read this one cover to cover. And OVERALL I did like Artemis... Although I REALLY didn't like the taking planes like cabs aspect. I wasn't impressed by it - I felt it was pretty asshole behavior on multiple levels. [And a giant fuck you to the environment...]
:X I've also forgotten the name of the hero. ... Pierce?
[Oh yay I was right!]

He and his family are too perfect. I mean of course they're human and have slight issues - but .... still basically perfect and it's even said ~tongue in cheek there.

:|

The initial hookup was sexy, but the actual relationship doesn't begin until like 6 years later, and it's all the angst and such - which meh.

The one sexytime - too late IMO are we shown his sister and nephew leave, so I was so distracted by the thought of them interrupting Artie and Pierce the whole time/too much to be like "oh hot" - I was more thinking "WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY THINKING/NOT THINKING?!"
So I wasn't impressed - although Pierce knew.

Meh.
[And also when Pierce is like "omg my sisters are sooooo much older than me" to Artie who is older than his sisters and OBVIOUSLY sensitive about her age despite her protests. Like.... SUPER CRINGE.]

D ... D+?

Who DOESN'T love a (LEGAL) age gap romance? Think carefully, because your answer could determine the future of our friendship. Lie to me if you have to. Just lie.

Ennyway, this is an age gap with the heroine, Artemis-known-as-Artie, being the older one (36 to Pierce's 21, if I remember correctly, or my Alzheimer's is just making this up).

(I just re-read the synopsis--which does not have Alzheimer's--and it says there's a 15-year age difference, and all l have to say about that is fuck math. Moving on.)

The book starts out with them having a blazing hot one-night stand hookup, but Artie doesn't do relationships, so she's outta there. She's focused on her career and don't need no gat damn man.

Good on ya, girlie! Get that bag. Is love gonna buy me my 1,200,363th Kindle ebook? No, it's not.

Love this concept! You start with the bang first, and then the characters have to work on the love thing (with intermittent banging--I mean, I did rate this "Recommended," so there better be P-in-V activity for the adults in the room) over the years.

They end up working on a film together--she's producing, he's directing--and they try to keep their genitals apart...HAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHAHA, I say, because those genitals DON'T stay apart, and then Artie tries to keep her heart apart from his...HAHAHAHA. HAHAHAHA, I say again, because this is a romance.

Love the slower burn, even though there's a lot of running away on Artie's part until she realizes what a dumbass she is who could've had dick AND love. HEA guaranteed.

Artemis (aka Artie) Miller is a successful Hollywood film producer that has a dark past in Hollywood. Romantically speaking she only does hook ups and keeps things very surface and shallow. Once she’s done with a man, she’s done with a man. No hard feelings. Her life is her only true companion.
Pierce Daniels is a hot young Hollywood director. He wants to make films of quality and meaning, which leads him to Artie. He has decided that Artie is the woman for him. However, Artie is not interested in happily ever after and forever type relationships. What’s a man in love supposed to do?

Elise Faber is now on my list of favorite contemporary romance/erotica novelist. She is consistent with her writing and characters. When I read the names of the main characters, Artemis and Pierce, I knew this story was going to be a doozie! Those are strong fierce names for both characters, so you know there are going to be fireworks with these “alphas.” I am not usually keen on stories set in Hollywood arena because the characters are always “breathtakingly beautiful” or “painfully sexy”. Elise did not spend a whole lot of time on the physical characteristics of either Artie or Pierce. Although the title alludes to the age difference between Artie and Pierce, it is not the elephant in the room for them. The raw chemistry between Artie and Pierce is steamy, sexy and borderline raunchy. I loved the dialogue between them. It was intense at times, flirty at others and sympathetic at different times. The slow but steady shift in Artie and Pierce’s relationship over time and the shift in Artie’s self-esteem and self-confidence was enough to keep me reading. I enjoyed that both characters maintained their traits and personality to the end of the story. This was not the typical male-female hierarchy novel. This novel is Romance Channel worthy.

I received a free advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Cougar is probably one of my favorite stories by Elise Faber!

I love a well-written story about an older woman and younger man and Cougar didn't disappoint. Artie is one of those characters you can't help but admire. Despite her troubled past where her parents were concerned, she was strong-minded, determined and successful. She knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid of challenges. Until she meets Pierce.

Pierce, despite being younger, was an admirable character. Working from the ground up, literally, he knew what he wanted in the film business and wasn't afraid to work for it. I loved that Artie didn't scare him away. His maturity spoke for itself and he certainly knew his way around the bedroom.

The chemistry between the two of them is hot and fierce, and years later, Pierce is still willing to give it all for the older woman. Cougar was an entertaining story that I devoured in one setting. More than anything I wanted to see Pierce and Artie together. Despite the difference in age, both knew what they wanted and Pierce was determined to stop at nothing.

A great story that will set the pages on fire!

For some reason I’m a lover of older women younger man romances. When I saw this cover and description I knew I had to grab it!
This story is so much more then an age gap. It’s two people realizing that if something feels right, then go after it!
Pierce being young, but and old soul inside. He is smart, wickedly handsome sweet and such a family guy. He’s worked hard in the entertainment world but even harder to get into Artie’s heart.
Artemis aka Artie is all about temporary, engulfed in her work in entertainment she had no idea what she was missing until she met the sparkled eye panty dropping Pierce Daniels. Friends is what her brain wants but her heart may want something totally different.
I really enjoyed this funny sexy and entertaining story! I loved all the characters, the funny scenes and let’s not forget the sexy moments. I totally recommend this to anyone that wants a light and fun read to escape all the life chaos.

Wow, I loved this one. It's about an age — gap. She is much older. Artie loves her men uncomplicated she takes her fair and walks away. She don't believe in relationships. She saw her parents treating themselves no good.
Pierce is 21 when they met the first time, but he knows Artemis is special — for him. He has to wait six years to get his chance. Will he be able to get into Arties shell?

I flew through the pages, was struck in the words. This book is so wonderful, powerful. Love is the strongest force in the world. Love can heal everything and no matter how old you or your partner are. The writing style is pretty clear and on the point. For the book playing in the world of film industries there are pretty many obstacles to get out of the way too. The bedroom time is totally fine and fits in this story. I loved the humor so much. The way Artie and Pierce tease each other is so funny and enjoying.
Please read.

Cougar, book two in the Chauvinist Stories series follows movie producer Artemis Lang, and movie director Pierce Daniels. Almost forty, and still single, Artie is living her life in “temporaries”, temporary movie locations, temporary production, and temporary relationships, until one night with Pierce Daniels changes everything. Pierce Daniels, who is fifteen years younger then Artie, knows what he wants in life.. Artie, in his bed, but not just a one night stand, but permanently, but when Artie offers him one night only, he takes his chances that he might change her mind. One night, six years ago, is all she can think of when Artie and Pierce run into each other and he asks her to work on one of his films. Now Pierce must convince Artie that age is just a number, and that they really can have everything they want, together. Can he convince Artie to take a leap and stay with a younger man?

Cougar is a fabulous read. I say it's kind of a second chance considering the time frame from the Artie and Pierce's first encounter to their next. I love that Pierce doesn't let age bother him when it comes to Artie. He is so patient with her and gentle when he needs to be. He also knows what his heart wants and isn't afraid to go after Artie. Artie is strong willed and you can tell she is hiding behind a shield that she has built. I love how much she fights her attraction to Pierce and how she gives in. They are smoking hot together. Age is just a number and it takes Pierce to show Artie that numbers don't matter love does. I loved every moment of this one. I can't wait for more to come of the Chauvinist Stories series.

This is only the second Elise Faber book that I've read & I enjoyed it just as much as the first one that I read. The story of Artie & Pierce takes place over a number of years. Artie is older & more wary. Hurt badly in the past her default is to protect herself. Pierce is younger, know exactly what he wants, & it's Artie. I loved these characters. Artie, normally so confident in herself becomes surprisingly insecure when faced with someone that she really wants in her life. I really enjoyed the interaction between them & that although Artie is older, it was Pierce that very much took a protector role. I also enjoyed the addition of Pierce's family - it bought some light moments to areas that could have become too heavy.

Holding On To Real Love -
It was meant to be one night of unbridled pleasure with no strings attached, between two consenting adults. However, six years later when they meet, it is evident that the embers of the past are still burning bright. Working together was supposed to be on a professional basis, but the more time they spent together, made them realise they were meant to be together. Unfortunately, just when they embark on a relationship, an innocent chat with the wrong person and insecurities from a painful past, nearly cost them their happily ever after. This was a beautifully written sweet and heartfelt story, that grabbed my attention from the beginning and didn’t let go until I reached the end. I enjoyed reading this story and I am sure you will enjoy reading it too.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and had a smile on my face pretty much all the way through it.
Pierce has a fun zest for life and couldn’t care a less about age.
Artie is terrified of relationships being anymore than temporary and puts as many obstacles in the way as possible be that work her past or her age.
I loved that this book spanned over 6 years, they didn’t just fall into bed in chapter 1 (they waited till chapter 2) and that was it happily ever after.
Thanks to the avoidance of a relationship over those 6 years pierce and Artie were friends and in being so they brought out each others playful sides which was fun and flirty.

Artie has worked extremely hard to keep her past deeply buried. Reasons: it hurts, and it's a stark reminder that love can be so uncertain. Pierce Daniels is certain of himself - and that he & Artie can weather any storm together. He just has to get her to see it, too.

Cougar is an emotional romance. A mix of friendship, love, humor, angst, family & an unrelenting passion make this book an entertaining yet sweet read. Include the extended epilogues, and you have a book that will leave a smile on your face.

I recommend this book unreservedly!

Main Characters: Pierce and Artemis
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
4 out of 5 stars
This book is a younger man older woman story. One of my favorite genres. Artie is a very successful Hollywood film producer and Pierce is a young up and coming Hollywood director. 1st chapter was not a fan of Artie because I am not a fan of hook-ups. However, these two had great chemistry. Artie however is a fan of temporary things. Pierce is looking for permanent. To me, this story was also a second or 3rd chance romance. I would love to read more by this author.

Absolutely adored this book. This is an older woman/younger man romance. Artie doesn't do relationships and is only after something temporary. She meets Pierce, a 22 year old director, full of life, and doesn't give a care about their age difference. They have one night together. The story spans over 6 years and Artie and Pierce become good friends. Over time Artie starts opening up about her past and her heart. Artie and Pierce were such a wonderful couple. I loved everything about this book and highly recommend it.

When Peirce and Artemis meet it's instant attraction and red hot sex. Both working in Hollywood they cross paths occasionally and are cordial. 6 years later they run into one another at an awards show. Artie always has been worried about their age difference. When they collaborate on a project they actually spend time with one another. There are stumbling blocks as well as a comfort and attraction. Will Pierce be able to convince her to give them a try? Fantastic characters and story development, must read!

Elise Faber is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers. Her characters are awesome, the storylines are original and different and they are heart warming. Cougar is no different. It tells the story of Artemis, a 37 year old successful producer who meets Pierce a 22 year old struggling director. There is instant chemistry between the two. But life, pasts, abuse and secrets get in the way. I was cheering and hoping for these two until the very end.

Book 2 in the Chauvinist Stories and the series is getting better with each book. This is an age gap story, which is usually not my jam, but much more as both Artemis and Pierce have their own issues to work out beyond the age gap. The book starts out with a bang....literally when Artie and Pierce first meet and spend an explosive night together. It seemed like a lot up front but it quickly turns into a slow burn romance.
I loved Pierce's family almost as much as Artie did and their easy going family style of loving. Their acceptance and love for the relationship certainly helps Artie overcome some of her fears and get the HEA she has been longing for.

In Cougar we meet Pierce and Artie who are having a face to face meeting for the first time. Things get hot and heavy from the very start just to have one of them quickly put the brakes on.

I absolutely adored this story! I loved that even though Artie was 15 years older than Pierce, it not only didn’t bother either of them, but it didn’t bother his family either. Cougar had all the right elements including passion, lust, family, love, and a forever. I definitely recommend reading Cougar!

I absolutely loved this older woman/younger man romance!
Artie and Pierce were perfect together! It just took Artie awhile to come to terms with it, but it was a very enjoyable journey we were taken down on their way to their hea! This story grabbed my attention from the first page and didn’t let me go until the end! Cougar was filled with emotions, tension, drama, friendship and amazing romance! I loved this book and the Chauvinist Stories series! I can’t wait for the next book!

Artie and Pierce were such a great couple. I really love that he is the one to help her come out of her shell. His family welcomes her into the fold right away and he's able to show her that she means the world to him. Straight from the beginning this was hot as hell when they first meet. So good.

I enjoyed this book. It is a bit of an emotional read. The age gap genre is sometimes played out with the older male, but this is an older female with younger male, and it is filled with lust, love, drama and family. They all hit the perfect combination.
