Dagger of the Martyrs

Rate this book
The Brotherhood is endangered, the Templars betrayed.

The Order's only hope lies with two twins, seperated at birth, raised worlds apart, but each with an unbreakable will to discover the secrets that have been kept from them.

An epic tale of betrayal and loss, of sacrifice and committment.

And of ties that, once forged, can never be broken.

THE DAGGER OF THE MARTYRS is an epic historical fantasy novel in the grand tradition of David Gemmell's Rigante and Troy novels, tinged with magic and wonder as well as the grit of war.

What a great book! I burned through this in less than 24 hours, I just couldn't put it down, the pace is relentless. This is Historical Fantasy but absolutely reads like the best Heroic Fantasy, high adventure with some magic to boot. Cannot wait for the sequel as it ends on a humdinger of a cliffhanger. Recommended for all fantasy lovers.

A good historical page-turner set in the time of the Knights Templar and their betrayal by king and church, with just a touch of fantasy magic / mysticism thrown in for good measure.

The main characters in this drama are a twin brother and sister, separated at birth, and each affected by atrocities in East and West alike, each undergoing martial training, and each left friendless and alone at the close of this first novel. They do not actually meet in this title, their stories are told in parallel, but the narrative is inevitably hurtling towards such a meeting in instalments yet to come.

I will look forward to reading it when the next volume appears!

Great Medieval Romp

Written, I'm hoping with at least a couple more books in the series this is a really promising start. Templar warriors betrayed and fighting against the crown and the pope to save their very skins against a torturing and brutal enemy.

In amongst this is a mysterious student of war who is learning mystical skills to make her a fearsome challenger to those who will do her wrong.

What a great read! This story switches between the viewpoints of twins, a boy and a girl, and it is super fast-paced. There is so much contained in these pages, I wanted to keep reading to find out what happens.
The only downside is it ends with a big cliff hanger, so I will have to wait to see the outcome.
