A handful of scattered survivors wake to find the world empty of friends, family, and neighbors.
Among them, a child searches for his family. A special agent turned enemy of the state survives a fiery plane crash with no way to reach his daughter. A serial killer discovers he’s no longer at the top of the food chain.
Now these strangers must find the strength inside them to weather the new world.
But they are not alone.
In the absence of civilization, a new threat emerges. In the stillness, it waits and watches, preying on their weakness. Their only hope is to find more survivors, rise above their fear, and face the oncoming darkness.

Wow, what a convoluted and ultimately boring plot. The writing was...decent I guess, but the author did tend to explain character motivations overmuch, and honestly this whole thing could have been a short story. Also: rampant misogyny, glorification of violence, and the character other reviewers seem to like so much is a happily unrepentant rapist and murderer. No thanks.
Wow, what a great series this is to read and i am so glad that i got it. I loved the characters in the story and felt they all fitted in so well. I know i will read this series again. Wish i could give more than five stars as so worth it. Make sure you read the story as the authors have done a great job
I really liked some of his characters and the general plotline, however time jumping and world jumping at the same time may have just been too much for my brain to keep track of.
Not bad. Not good. It was okay. I ordered the whole 6 "seasons" after reading S1. (for free I think, and then a cheap price for the whole story) It was mildly interesting enough that I finished it. So it wasn't a total loss. At least I don't feel it was a (complete) waste of time. The writing was decent in general. But I had to slog through too much of it trying to get to the end. At points it was so convoluted that I lost track of who was who and what was going on. I suspect this is because they "stupidly" wrote it in "episodes" and "seasons", which is apparently some "new" thing people are doing. MOST of the people doing this should NOT be writing like this. NO ONE is really a good enough writer to write a truly decent story in this manner. (this was partly why the TV show "Lost" had so many problems) My guess is they did it this way because they didn't really know what they were doing, were "beginning writers" (?), and maybe to garner attention or something like that with "some new 'style' of writing". If they had "written it correctly", it probably would have been a much better story, and MUCH more readable. (and made more sense from beginning to end) It had quite a few typos, but not overly terrible. It's probably a miracle it was as good as it was, considering. I wouldn't suggest anyone else read it, and I won't be reading any of their other stories.
NOTE: Some people will not like the story because of one of the characters, Boracio, who is a PSYCHOPATH. Some of his "flowery" language even made me cringe as I was laughing about how extreme it was. And then there is the thinking, beliefs, and actions that go along with it. This concept-representation was really one of the geniuses of the story that made it more worthwhile. I have seen that some people complain that there is (too much) misogyny, violence toward women, extreme and graphic violence in general, blatant rape scenes, torture, blood, gore, etc.... (not all by this one character) Yes, there is, but BY DESIGN. So it is "okay". (this is Reality, that is 'TV') If you are a "light weight" then this is definitely NOT the story for you.
There isn’t really much I can add that hasn’t been covered in one review or another or in one format or installment or another so for me, this is just some of my peripheral observations without digging too deep.
I started this after the series was finished, thankfully. I know the authors are big into the serial idea but thats like inputting commercials back into tv shows, yuck. Who wants to wait for the rest of the story and then try and remember what is even happening and where you left off.
I took the bait of the free first series with my eye on the entire collection for a dollar but once I finished the first installment and was really hooked it became ten! I felt cheated and almost didn’t buy it but even at that price it is still a deal and I’m glad I did.
They said the original idea was a trilogy and then it became two. I kinda feel like maybe their first instinct was correct. I was so engrossed in the beginning and only seemed to fade as it continued. By the end, things became so outlandish it felt like being cheated a little.
I seem to have been mostly critical so far which I didn’t intend since I had some very enjoyable moments. I’ll finish on a high note with a disclaimer. The reviews who cried about the language and vulgarity and disgusting themes and whatnot, go read something else, no one is forcing you. This is a post apocalyptic story with an alien invasion, it’s gonna be messy if it’s gonna be any sort of realistic. That’s what makes it good. Speaking of good, Boricio the Butcher, carries this adventure kicking and screaming from start to finish. Unforgettable, and one of my favorite characters of all time.
Loved the ending!!! You may think that's a strange way to begin a review, but after reading the whole series all at once,I often thought about the ending...So many wonderful characters,so many subplots,so much to bring together!! These authors did an exemplary job. Being as I read the series as one book,I must say it was one of the best books I have ever read! I never give 5stars!!. I couldn't wait to start reading every night!!! You will love it! Though at first I was afraid I would lose track of the characters and subplots, the way it was written by naming the chapters after the character the chapter was going to be about, made it easy to follow.I am highly impressed by the cohesiveness of the book. Sometimes authors don't do such a wonderful job of thinking about their readers...Thankfully,these guys did!!!
This book needs to be optioned as a series for cable TV
I am a fan of all kinds of genres, but this post-apocalyptic series of books had me going every day never wanting to do anything more than hurry up and find out what was coming next. The books are set up in a way as if you were watching a TV series down to the parts of the different series. There are many characters to love and to hate. The whole time I read the books I was playing the whole thing in my head as if I was either there watching it or seeing it 3rd person. Now that I have completed the series I am satisfied with everything while feeling let down because I was so enthralled and happy to read about the adventures that I don't know what to do with myself. I want more. Would recommend to anyone to read that is in the mood for a wild graphic a crazy ride.
First:I love dystopian Novels. Second: I started this at the beginning of the COVID19 outbreak. I was a little worried about how this story would effect my sleep (nightmares) and my waking moments (panic attacks). Well good news. It didn't cause any mental problems at all. Just a very enjoyable and Long read. I'm not going to go through the entire book and critique it. I will just say it is well worth the read. If you don't have time to sit down and read all six seasons in one gulp, read it by season. That way you can finish a season or two. Give it a rest for a week or two and then start off with the next season.
I wanted to like this. I read 50% of it and with a heavy heart gave up, very rare for me. The style and prose the author has is exceptionally good, and fits with how I like a story to be told...however it just became to confusing. The story moves backwards and forwards through many time periods with two sets of characters from different worlds with the same names. It becomes nigh on impossible to know who's who, and what their objectives are. I would definitely try other books by this author as there's no doubting he is talented, however this one just becomes more baffling contract page.
I read the entire series in this fabulous box set… some people get their steps in, I’ve gotta get my pages in! Each and every character is depicted in an in depth way, provoking the most interesting set of emotions towards every individual. At the end, you’ll cry at the loss of being so involved in their adventure. The apocalyptic scenario has a few resemblance to most fiction in this genre - it is what it is, the end. But overall the storyline was deep, intelligent, and wonderfully unique. Some great twists, and time has brought a follow up series so I know what to read next! Pretty much anything by this group of authors is immersive and enjoyable. Thanks… Enjoy!
This series is why people read and have nightmares about dying in their sleep and not finishing the series. There are some dark parts of the series (there's a serial killer that is a main part of the entire series! but he's also the comic relief --go figure).
I don't get into the style of writing or the character flaws and whatnot. I just read for entertainment. And this series delivers. The book is written in mini books, the authors allude to it is like reading a TV show series. Makes for some interesting flow that hooks you and just makes you want to keep reading.
A difficult series to review. It is entertaining enough, it does not have a boring second, but it's... shallow, I suppose. There is character development of sorts, but it's abrupt and without much sense usually, and once even powered by magic, or whatever it is supposed to be. I found the characters rather shallow, the story all over the place, not sure if it was horror, fantasy, scifi or a mixture all them all, with a few others thrown in. But like I said, it was entertaining all the way through, so I wasn't bored. But I'm in no rush to re-read it either.
2,966 pages of pure excitement!!! ALMOST gave up at the very beginning, thinking "Do I REALLY want to commit to one story that's this long?" ! !! Luckily, I persevered and stuck with it, and , man, I'm REALLY glad I did!!!!! Loved every minute of it!!! I'm sure you will too!!!!
This was an awesome read, I loved every thing about the books, it took me a while to get through them but I wouldn't give up, just like the characters. I read the final chapters during our own lockdown, feeling like I was living the story, well done the authors, I will be reading your next book.
I couldn't get enough of this group of people. I knew the story had to end, BUT why take Boricio from Mary and Paola ? All thru the book I kept thinking, happy ending, happy ending. NOPE! Not happening . Why???? I have to say after reading the end, it ruined dinner for me. Keep the stories coming. Loved it, thank you.....
Review for "Yesterday's" Gone series, by Sean Russell, etc.
Wow! I am a survivalist, and into preparedness, but never imagined THIS scenario! Has everything sci-fi fans would want. Plus the character building is unique. Has lots of "language", so parents beware! Very nice 6-book series. It is prefaced by " October's Gone" , another good read!
Loved this story. Loved Luca from the start, grew to love Boricio. The characters were great, you got to root for the hood guys and sometimes be angry at them. Loved how it ended.
I almost put this book down but the more I read the better it got. Some of it may be a little confusing at first but it becomes clearer. The characters were a perfect cast. The worst of them became one of the best of them.
Wonderful book with a unique story line. I have never read anything quite like it, plenty of action, mystery, romance, science fiction and survival. Deep characters. I recommend these books!
Started out likking this series. But after reading through a third of the first book I found it to difficult to follow the characters. Jumped back and forth between characters and locations.
It’s hard for me to rate this book. Obviously, I liked it enough to read for apx 44 hours! I basically like this genre but I think it was too long. One of the main protagonists was a rapist and murderer whose descriptions of women were crude and ugly and he was one of the GOOD guys! I wanted to finish reading to see how it all ended. I thought the first half was better than the last.
Sorry, I cannot recommend this book to anyone unless you like disgusting perverted Psychotic rambling. I read thrillers, survival fiction and apocalyptic fiction, but this I cannot read, it is just gross.
The story was fairly interesting, but the character Boracio was so evil and crazy that I had to skip all of his chapters. I bought 1-6 or I would have stopped reading after the first season. I won’t be continuing…..
Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Main characters keep your interest. I lloved the character Boricio even though he was the protagonist. The ending was believable and with a twist.
