When the Clock Strikes Midnight

Rate this book
After a horrendous accident that leaves Danny burned and disfigured, he loses everything that means anything to him.
Ostracized and alone, he leaves home and moves to a small town with the hopes of starting over. Despite a new shot at life, Danny’s confidence is shattered and when a tempting new neighbor moves in, Danny can’t do more than quietly watch him— unable to utter a single word.

The magic of New Year's Eve has other plans though, and Danny gets a night of sexy recklessness at a masquerade party.

After the night in the arms of a sexy stranger, Danny goes about his life thinking he can at least enjoy the memories if his one-night stand. Until he finds out that the stranger who rocked his world is the same sultry and captivating neighbor he’s been crushing on for a long time.

As Cole and Danny actually start to build a relationship, Danny has to decide if he comes clean about the night of passion they had without either of them knowing, only . . . he’s terrified Cole may not care for him the same.

In the end, all Danny wants is for Cole to want him for who he really is and not the man he pretended to be in the mask.

A great romantic MM novella that is well written with a great plot. The characters are realistic with amazing chemistry. I enjoyed the well flowing story line. Who knew a masquerade party and one hot hook up with a stranger would end up with the love of their lives. Even though this story may be on the shorter side, it does not run short on emotions. You will experience through Danny and Cole's eyes, friendship, insecurities, attraction, longing, deceit, anger, distrust, jealousy, apologies, regrets, and a happy ending.

A lovely romance! Danny has some issues to overcome, but with patience Cole helps him. A fairly quick read but engaging nonetheless.

This whole book bounces back and forth between present and past tense, and has many other typos beyond that. It made it impossible to get into the story.

Loved it, Danny was injured in an accident and his boyfriend at the time left him due to the burn marks left on his body afterward. Cole lives next door to Danny and finds him beautiful regardless of his scars. These two end up having a hot encounter at a New Year’s Eve masquerade party. This was a short but sweet read.-Enjoy.

You guys!! This is like the perfect New Years Eve story!

Danny is dealing with the aftermath of a horrific accident. He is starting to have a crush on his gorgeous new neighbor after moving to a new town. But can Danny find it within himself to put himself out there? When he meets a mysterious stranger at a Masquerade New Years Eve party, he has a night he won’t forget.

Y’all I loved this story! I loved how the author was able to add in so much character development and story development in such a short amount of time. Sometimes I don’t like novellas because I don’t feel like I am able to get to know the characters and their lives. And even though this was a shorter story, I didn’t miss out on anything! I just loved both Danny and Cole the more I read of them. I also loved all of the secondary characters. This book has the perfect balance of being complete and me feeling like I didn’t miss out on anything nag, while also making me want more because I loved it so much!

You need to pick this up ASAP!

Here's looking at you with beautiful eyes. Danny has been crushing on a neighbor in his apartment complex for the past 3 years. He perceives that the neighbor doesn't look at him directly, or notice him. Danny was horribly disfigured and recognizes that people either look at him in horror, or avoid looking at him. Cole lives across the hall from Danny. Cole didn't notice the scars until Melanie pointed them out. He thought Danny was cute around them. They start getting to know each other and realize they have a lot in common and enjoy each other's company. Will Danny ever reveal himself? Will Cole ever guess? Will they talk about the accident? These guys are both adorable. Very nice character development. Vivian and Melanie are interesting. It would be nice to read about them. Well done! I absolutely loved this story. Danny and Cole being aware of each other by being neighbors for three years and not getting to know each other was sad but that New Year's party changed all that. Even though it was masquerade party and they didn't know who each other were they were still drawn together. Their chemistry was intense and HOT. With Danny finding out Cole was he's mystery man without telling Cole was disappointing but understandable because of his insecurities. This put a strain on their developing relationship. It was great seeing how they worked through it and had a lovely HEA at the end. This book was so good I wouldn't had mind a cliffhanger at the end just to keep reading on for another chapter of the two guys lives. I'm totally a A.L. Miller fan now...:)

Cole and Danny have lived across the hall from each other for three years and haven't even said hi to each other. One day Danny"s mail gets mix up with Cole's and when Cole take the mail to Danny he realizes that he wants to get to know Danny better. When they start dating Danny has a secret that can tear them apart. I really enjoyed this book.

Definitely a fun holiday read. This is a story that will pull at your heartstrings. An accident happens that left Danny with fascial scars and only one friend so he follows the friend when she moves out of their hometown. Now three years later he has made another friend but still is extremely self conscious about his scarring that is until Cole his hot and sexy neighbor of three years speaks to him seemingly without noticing the scars. They then hook up at a masquerade party unbeknownst to either of them but Danny finds out first and doesn’t let Cole know about his alter ego. Could that oversight cost him his budding relationship with Cole? Will Danny let his insecurities stand in his way of the first relationship that he has been in since the accident?

Danny has been physically impact by an accident that left him with facial scars. At a masquerade he hooks up for a one night stand with a lovely man only to find out that it is his neighbor Cole. Cole did not realize that it was Danny. In Cole, Danny finds someone who sees him, not his scars. They have a chance at something if Danny will come clean about the fact that they have been together. Can Danny find the courage to come clean so that they can build on the connection that they have? Lovely story with a message.

This book definately reminds us not to keep secrets, as it almost ruins Danny and Coles fledgling relationship.

Having met at a masquade ball, when they finally agreed to a date, neither immediately realised that the other was their sexy stranger.

Danny having discovered it first, almost lost the potential love of his life, by not telling Cole about the masquarade ball.

A sweet story

My heart went out to Danny. I love how upon first meeting Cole only saw the beauty in Danny. This story is warm and sweet but also serves up a little heartbreak, momentarily. Good story with characters that play well. Good romance, interaction and a great HEA brings it all together, nicely.
