My name is Yolanda. I look like I’m in my twenties, but I’m not. I look human, but don’t let that fool you. I’m unlike any other supernatural out there. I can’t fly, I can’t move objects with my mind, and I can’t read minds. What I can do is dream. I am a dream jumper. I can travel to parallel dimensions and see worlds most don’t even know exist. I’m also a hero. I’ve saved this dimension from destruction once, and now I have to do it again.

Grim Reaper Academy is my destiny. When I get the letter in my mailbox, I know it’s time for me to continue the legacy of my cousin, Mila Morningstar. She left some things unsolved. I’m not worried. I’ve had two centuries to prepare. It should be easy enough to save the world again. Now, if only the two VDC A-holes – an incubus and a sphinx – would stay out of my way, and the hot PE professor – Unseelie, descendant of Gilgamesh himself, they say – wouldn’t trip me at every step. It’s like they don’t want me to kill the monster hiding under the Academy.

Cara Wylde loves to write about strong, feisty women and their hot Alphas who will do anything to make them happy. Her books are filled with romance and just a dash of mystery, suspense, and that eerie atmosphere she fell in love with reading too many gothic novels. With a master's degree in Comparative Literature, she can't help but play with tropes and themes from various genres, trying to come up with fresh perspectives on the paranormal characters her readers love so much. Vampires, shape-shifters, demons, witches... Cara will always make sure they get their own twists.

When she's not writing, Cara is reading, planning her next story, or daydreaming. Her idea of pure heaven is a day filled with nothing but her laptop, a huge coffee pot, relaxing music, and a new, exciting project.

What an awesome continuation to the orginal series Grim Reaper Academy. You won't be disappointed when you pick up this book. In this book the main character is just as sassy and know it all attitude will have you laughing in some parts. The secondary characters besides a few will remind you of some people from the earlier series. But it all fits in together very nicely. Though I do wish towards the end there was a bit of a mythology lesson at the end for some of the characters. The plot thickens in this book and I can't wait to see how it unfolds. No problems with anything even with a few mistakes in words. Oh and please do read the previous series before this one. Or you will be hopelessly lost in this series from what I read so far. There's a lot of past talking that goes on....

Yolanda isn't the same little girl, we all know anymore that killed the previous headmaster of the Grim Reaper Academy. Who refused to step down from his post. She is now ready to buckle down and learn the trade that will become hers soon enough. That is if she can survive the bullying buttheads in the academy she comes across. And it's only her first day...heck not even an hour into it. What will she do? And more importantly will she stick to the plan?

This is an awesome read that will take you away to another reality in which you want to learn more about. It moves along at a great pace, making for an easy read and enjoyable read. You feel as though you have known the characters forever and you want to be there with them helping them to succeed no matter what needs to be done. You cannot help but fall in love with them. The story will grab you from the very beginning and not let you go till you finish the very last page. Then you are anxiously waiting for the next book to come out. This is a must read, no doubt about it.

This is the start of a series that continues from a previous series in the future.
Yolanda is a fun character, a human but not quite normal.
It's an easy, fun read and the characters entertaining. Some you will love and others love to hate.
Great story, I loved it.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

Book review of Year One: Dreamers (Grim Reaper Academy: Legacies #1) by Cara Wylde

First, I did not realize this was a continuation to the original series Grim Reaper Academy but I think I was able to read this quite well without having read the previous books. Legacies follows Mila's cousin Yolanda as she starts her time at the Academy and what shoes Yoli has to fill!

This book moves along at a great pace, making for an easy and enjoyable read overall. It is also a well written book; with reintroductions to some of the old favorite cast of characters as well as introductions to new colorful characters that spice things up! So far it as been a brilliant new adventure at the academy many know & love.

I found it to be fantastic read but watch out for the massively dramatic cliffhanger.

ONE FABULOUS ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!!!
Whoa now! Cara rocks my world, dialing my number, bringing all the heat and magic full throttle, ratcheting up the thrill of the chase and burning it down, fusing this baby together flawlessly. A raging vortex of fervent events and stunning circumstances, catapults those churning emotions into play front and center. Exhilaration rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, riding roughshod and delivering one block busting delight. Navigating the trials and tribulations, noting the thrilling twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, blowing this gem into a raging tempest, blasting it into a frenzy with a life-altering culmination. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow, transforming into genuine approachable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Cara, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

I started this story without fully realising that it was linked to a previous series by Cara Wylde, but I decided if I enjoyed this one then I would definitely go back and read the other series which concentrates on Yoli's cousin, Mila, and her guys.

Yolanda, or Yoli to those closest to her is human, but not quite. She's centuries old, and a dream jumper. Grim Reaper Academy is where she's always wanted to be and now finally is her chance. But things when she gets there aren't quite what it seems.

I admit it took me a little while to get into the story as there was a lot of information, characters and world-building thrown at you all in one go if you hadn't read the original series. Once I got into the story it continued at a great pace throughout. And what a damn cliffhanger at the end. I'll definitely be reading book two when it comes out as I need to know what happens to Yolanda and the strange men she has found along the way.

First a quick intro: this serie a continuation from the Grim Reaper Academy trilogy. It can be read as a stand alone as there is enough background information, but that also takes away most of the fun of reading the first trilogy (you will still have to read it for all the details), so I highly recommend to read the story in order. It will be worth it.
Now for this book, we get a new main character that joins Grim Reaper Academy 200 years after the first trilogy (though she also has a major role at the end). She is also human but is kept alive because she has a mission to fulfill. One that doesn't involve getting through her classes because after all this time, she knows more than even her teachers. Everybody has a love/hate relation for her and navigating those mood swings will be challenging when she doesn't know anybodies true motivations.
Prepare yourselves for a great story full of mysteries.

Yolanda has big shoes to fill, her aunt is Mila Morningstar, and now it is her turn to attend Grim Reaper Academy. She has been expecting the letter for a long time, and when it finally arrives, she has her doubts. The last thing she expected was VDC bullies, a sphinx and an incubus. Then there is the hot new PE teacher, an Unseelie, and he seems to hate her, and she can't believe she is attracted to them.

Wonderful characters, fascinating, unique, and well written. Yolanda doesn't really think the Academy has much to teach her, but in order to rid the world of the beast living under the school she needs to be there. Wow, exciting plot with plenty of surprising twists that kept me reading into the early morning hours. Fantastic book, I loved it!

OMG, a cliffhanger! We have some suspense, bulling, love/hate relationships and more. I will say the story will make more sense to you if your read the Grim Reaper Academy about Mila first. Yolanda is a dreamwalker like her cousin Mila. Yolanda was also the one that killed Mila's father Morningstar. She has plans to go to the Grim Reaper Academy like her cousin, but she wants to do more. Of course she has the jealous problems of girls, because of VDC guys and of course a hot professor. What will she do to kill the undead monsters? What problems will these guys cause? Can They protect her or will she kill them before they can? Can she figure out the other dimensions? So many questions and now I have to wait for the next book.

Thoroughly enjoyed it
If you have read The Grim Reaper Academy Series then you will definitely love Year One: Dreamers, although not necessary to read the series before I do highly recommend it. Love being able to go back to the Academy. We get Yolanda's story many years later when she attends the academy, and her story takes on a different turn, that sucks you into a dream world and the possibilities. This new story has bullies, revenge, teasing, teacher/student type. And a glimpse of some of the old characters. I would say it’s a medium burn and a great read. Can't wait to read what happens next.
My favorite passage was with Corri, The Pixie "Whose ass do I have to kick? Huh? Huh?" She punched the air with her tiny fists. "I need names, Mistress. Names!"

What a headliner. This beginning is a bomb.

So different from the first Grim Academy series but so good. Wylde shows her talent once again. She grabs you and doesn't let you go. From the beginning, Yoli knows this year is going to be different. She's waited for the invitation and it's finally here. Passing the entrance exam was easy, is that how things are going to be? Nope! The students hate her and the teachers resent her. All in all, her first year, no her first semester is an everlasting torment. She can't seem to get anything right and now even her dream jumping is going haywire. As years ago, hers is shaping up to be horrendous. This is a definite must read. Especially if you read Milas stories.

I loved the Grim Reaper Academy series with Mila and her guys so i was looking forward to reading Legacies. Which didnt disappoint. Legacies follows Mila's cousin Yolanda aka Yoli as she starts her time at the Academy. Except her notoriety has proceeded her and everyone there has heard of her. Making her a target of some especially flirty guy - Davien and other student - Seth. Both of which she is still trying to find out about. Add to that P.E instructor- Wyvern. Boy is her smoking hot!! Happy to see Corrie the pixie is back and up to mischief with Yoli. A great start and im loving reading its so much!

Yolanda is known as a hero (Yoli to her friends), before she even started at Grim Reaper Academy, and this legacy is going to make it difficult for her first year. She just wants to get through the year, and figure herself out, but she is only one of two humans in an Academy dominated by supernatural beings, some of them are going to challenge her. I loved this first book of what looks to be a fantastic new series, Yolanda isn't afraid to fight, but would rather get along and I loved following her along with her fantastic tale. I need to know what happens next, I hope the next book is soon.

I really love that this series is still continuing with Yoli’s side of the story. I couldn’t put this book down once reading it. When it ended it felt like it ended too quick. Honestly it did ended too quick. In general most stories and even the grim reaper series at least had a climax, solution, and then a cliff hanger. This dreamer book one has a climax/cliff hanger? All in all it was too short and didn’t feel like a complete book. I can’t wait for the next book though. Thank you for the advance! Looking forward to reading more. I do love the series. It’s hot, sexy, and the original story line.

where’s the warmth

The storyline is amazing and the way the characters bring it to life is incredible. I really like how the author explains the background. I think that helps especially when readers like me haven’t read previous books.
This start was a little slow as far as the intro goes. We see the guys picking on her and in a sense bullying her. What I don’t see is the depth of her relationships she is forming? I don’t feel the emotions coming through the pages. I’m glad we see a good hook at the end with the guys and hopefully we see more warmth and relationship ties..

I absolutely loved these Grim Reaper Academy stories by Cara Wylde with Mila Morningstar now it’s her cousin’s turn Yolanda who has been looking forward to going to the Grim Reaper Academy. A spellbinding and exciting read you get the sexy guys especially the P.E. Professor and the bullies there’s no getting away from them especially for Yolanda. This is an amazing continuation to this series with new characters who remind you of the past ones but sorry guys no spoilers, this is a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Yolanda is a dream jumper and can travel to parallel dimensions and see worlds most don’t even know exist. Now she is following in her aunt Mila Morningstar’s footsteps and attending Grim Reaper Academy. She is confident and feisty and ready to take on whatever comes her way . . . and she won’t have long to wait!

This is a wonderful continuation of the Grim Reaper Academy stories and will easily become a new favorite. Grab your copy and enjoy the well-written story that will capture the reader from the first page to the last. Don’t miss this one!

After reading and loving the original series I was looking forward to this book and I am happy to declare that it more than lived up to my expectations. Once again our intrepid heroine faces bullying, being the only one different and trying to find her place but she is strong and brave and if anyone can achieve what they set out to do its her. The characters are fantastically crafted and will soon feel like old friends. The story is fast-paced and hugely entertaining with bucket loads of emotion.

I was immediately drawn into the book and did not want to put it down. This series continues with Yolanda and her quest to kill Mila's maker. I was on the edge of my seat throughout and cannot wait for the next book to come out. The cliffhanger came out of nowhere and makes me start thinking of things that could have happened.

Year One: Dreamers is book one in the series Grim Reaper Academy Legacies by author Cara Wylde. So this is the first book I’ve read in this series and it’s connecting series. Entertaining, intriguing, gritty, dark and so much more. Its storyline is fascinating- I don’t like cliffhangers and this is one, but I’m not upset with that- in fact I can’t wait for the next book.
Enjoy!!

There are books on all types of academy: demigods, faeries, shifters, hybrids, Vampires, witches and Warlords, so why not an academy for Grimm Reapers. Afterall, someone with the power of death should be trained, right?! And if you think this academy is a walk in the park, then you better hope you are not enrolled in it or you are in it for a rude Awakening.

Yolanda has grown up a lot since we first met her in the Grim Reaper Academy series. Now is time once again for a new class of Reapers to begin their training and Yoli is among them. There are actually 2 humans in this class of reapers, Yolanda and Hayley. These two become friends and start navigating their way through the classes and supernaturals in school.
The story pulled me in and just kept going until the end. I couldn't put it down and can't wait to read the next one.

This novel is an interesting beginning of what seems to be an interesting side arc to the Grim Reaper Academy. It picks up almost 200 years in the future with Yolanda receiving her invitation to the academy. This book seems to give a good introduction to the new story arc in the series. I cannot wait for the next.

I got this book, but I meant to grab Surviving Year One. I was pretty confused. It dives right in with no world explanation. There are a lot of names and monster types being thrown around. I’m going to go start with Surviving Year One and if I like it I’ll circle back.

I actually really like when books don’t waste a bunch of time retelling old plots, but since this was an entirely new world it was confusing. I’m sure I’ll appreciate it after I’ve read the first set of books.

I’m so excited that Cara is giving us a second round at the Grim Reaper Academy. This time we are hanging out with Yolanda, Mila’s cousin.
With ulterior motives than becoming a grim reaper, she takes us for a rollercoaster ride as she adjusts to the academy.
I have a feeling this series will be another one that pulls me in and holds me to the end!
