Another book broken down into three stories. In my opinion, it’s hard enough to write a good one-shot and even harder when you only have like 8 pages to put a story together. The first story suffers due to this. Just not enough there. The second story had Puck confessing some things to Marina and her basically being like don’t sweat it. But I knew Ed Brisson would come thru in the clutch and save the day. That last story was the best. That plot twist definitely caught me off guard.
Meh, the claim of Northstar being in this is a bit of a stretch. He's in three panels, sunbathing. Other than that it was okay. Artwork for the first story was my favourite, as stories I suspect the last was the best, the twist was certainly interesting, but I didn't really have the background knowledge.
Flawlessly conceived first issue! I thought that the division in chapters was going to bother me, but by adding the fin at the end of the second chapter it made me enter the last chapter with a clean slate. A first issue that is not missing anything.
Wonderful compilation of Alpha Flight stories. My favorite was the first one, with Snowbird and Talisman. Beautiful artwork and sensitive story-telling enhance this tale where Snowbird finds some closure in her personal life. The next story, featuring Puck and Marrina, with a cameo by the Beaubier twins, is equally sensitively told, with Puck revealing a regrettable part of his past to Marrina. The last story, with Heather and Claire on the run, is solid, even if not my favorite. A high-quality book, which makes me long for more Alpha Flight adventures.
It was an OK issue, but I hate when stories are only given a fraction of an issue. I hope the powers that be at Marvel give Alpha Flight a mini-series so stories can be shared with more depth
