The Haunted Ones #6

Graveyard Shift

Rate this book
The newest eerie tale from best selling author Michelle Dorey
Serenity Lodge is haunted. Don’t ask the residents suffering dementia if that’s true. Ask the nurses.
Amanda Ennis is the new nurse at Serenity Lodge nursing home. It’s a dream job after years of the hectic pace in the emergency room of a large hospital. Better yet, she’s on the short-list for an upcoming Supervisor position!
The only stumbling block to working there is the constant undermining from Linda Harper, a battle-axe nurse. They both want that Supervisor job. Linda believes her decades of experience entitles her to it.

Working with Linda was the only downside until the new resident, Carmel Turner arrived.

Now, shadow people lurk in the hallways. Unseen hands play with the lights turning them on and off. Carmel, a psychic with stage four dementia, claims she’s even being attacked!
Amanda never believed in the supernatural until her own chilling encounters. When mysterious claw marks are slashed on Carmel, she can no longer deny their dire presence. Each new incident escalates the danger. But how can Amanda tell anyone? Ghosts? Spirits? If she so much as mentions this crazy stuff, not only will her promotion vanish, she'd lose her Nursing license!

All hell breaks loose on All Hallow’s Eve--that night when the barrier separating the afterlife is weakest.
No one is left unscathed. Not everyone is getting out of there alive.

Graveyard Shift is the latest installment of The Haunted Ones Paranormal Suspense, ongoing tales of ordinary people confronting malevolent spirits. If you enjoy Darcy Coates, Wendy Wang, and JL Bryan, you'll love the Haunted Ones Series.

Once I got hooked, I read it in one sitting

I had a hard time getting into this book but I'm glad i persevered. Once I got into it I liked the different perspectives of the different characters; it gives a better insight into the story without getting detailed too much into their lives. It was a perfect balance. I like the uniqueness of the storyline. Once I got hooked I read the whole book in one sitting it was so addictive.

Awesome series!

This is the second series that got me from the time I opened book 1 until the end of this masterful work of art! The characters you can relate with, no matter which book you pick up. I enjoyed the way the characters appear throughout the series. I highly recommend any and all of Michelle Dorey's books!

This is my first book of this series but let's be real, I will be binge reading the rest! Characters were fleshed out without going overboard. Plot twists you will not see coming, very.enjoyable!

Graveyard shift

Good story I enjoyed it, I’ve worked in a fair few nursing homes and thankfully none were like that one although I’ve had my share of paranormal experiences over thirty years of nursing

Graveyard Shift

Another sensational book from Michelle Dorey! I have so enjoyed getting to know all the characters in her books. My only regret is book six was the last of this series. Impatiently waiting for the next book!

Strange but good

Well written and containing some interesting plot twists, the horror is set in a nursing home. The question is what is haunted: the home or the patients?

Fantastic book

This is the first book I have read by this author and I'm hooked. As a fan of paranormal stories this book fits the bill. The element of good versus evil certainly plays out very well. Even though this book is part of a series it can easily be read as a stand alone work, although I do plan on going back to read the rest of the series.

Not bad.

It wasn’t bad, but it was hard to stick with in the beginning. I felt it started off too slow.

I wasn't sure about this book when I started it. But, I'll tell you, by the time I'd got to the end, I realized that I was wrong on so many levels. I had who was good and who was bad totally wrong. Michelle Dorey is a true wordsmith. She lays out and sets the scene at the beginning and from there the tension escalates. You think you know what's going to happen next, but you're wrong. The twist will wrap around you and leave you slapping your forehead thinking "I never saw that coming". Can't wait to read more of her work.

As good as the first one

As a retired nurse of 30 years , I was able to identify with your characters easily. The twist of the Nursing Home patient being the crux of the story, and the resulting climax at the end was an exciting read! I will be reading your other books immediately! Thank you for using your writing skills to enable us readers to look at different aspects of other people's lives.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I can tell you you won’t want to put it down. What do you do when only one other person can see the things you can and their state of mind is in question. What do you do when you can’t tell who to trust and who you stay away from? All kinds of questions but no answers and you never know what’s lurking around every corner

Well done

This is the first book I've ever read by Michelle. I read it in one sitting as it just was really intriguing. And I love how God came into it toward the end. It was pretty subtle at it wasn't an in-your-face kind of thing. As a Christian I appreciate that because I can't stand anything that is preachy. I hope to read more books by this author

I had a hard time connecting with this book. It was easy to set aside, and hard to make myself go back to. I normally would have taken a DNF on it, but pushed through. The ending was meh, the characters blah, and the book as a whole was a ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
