When your family is as large as the Giller-Sturtz household, nothing is ever just ... easy. Especially a busy Christmas season. Parties, kids, decorations, kids, pictures, kids, vacation, kids. It's going to take every single adult in Polly's house to pull off a successful holiday. Fortunately, they're up to the task. Doug Randall is still fretting over what to do with his future. He enlists Polly and Henry's help when he comes up with another great idea. He doesn't want Polly to find a body in the building they investigate, but a mystery emerges when he peels wallpaper away from a gigantic painting. Bellingwood's history hasn't given up all its secrets yet and the latest spooky tale stirs memories that had been long-forgotten. Henry's sister, Lonnie, remembers going to the library on her way home from school simply to avoid the old building and she didn't even know the whole story. Once she found out, the creepy factor made more sense. Everything is wrapped up in the joy and excitement of the season. There is nothing quite as wonderful as sharing the holiday with your friends.
This is my favorite series, maybe because I'm familiar with, and have been to, many of the places these characters visit. My daughter lives in Boone, is an ISU grad, and my grandson is a Junior there. I love Polly and Henry and all of the kids who have been fortunate enough to have found a loving home with them, and they have the most interesting, wild, and crazy friends ever!! A little mystery and sometimes tears in every book, but so much fun. And we get a new adventure 4 times a year!
Polly' s big family gathers at church for Christmas Eve service, with Elijah playing the piano, Rebecca and Polly doing a diet on their flutes and then Rebecca and Lexi singing a duet. After church everyone goes back to the house for dinner then a sleepover at their house with Henry's sister Lonnie, her boyfriend and his daughter. Christmas morning Dave proposes to Lonnie in front of all the family. All the children have a great time together.
I sometimes get busy and forget to read the short stories between the big books. That’s a mistake. A lot of things happened in this book that I would have been scratching my head over in the next major release. I really enjoyed this book, I tried to read slow to stretch it out. Don’t ever stop writing about Polly please!
I absolutely loved this! I love how positive everything is and how much Polly loves her family, they of course love her back. This really gave more development to Lexi's character and her role in the family. I cant wait for the new business to open and find out the positivity it will bring! Way to go Doug!
You cannot help getting involved with Polly and her family. The ups and downs, the laughter and the tears!!! I wait patiently for each new book. This book had me smiling and a few tears the whole way....
I love spending time with my family in Bellingwood. I just finished this book for the second time. The book is so well written that I feel like I know everyone. I can see them in my mind. Well worth the time to read.
I really enjoyed this short story. It’s hard to believe that the kids are growing so fast. They really are growing up. What will Polly do with 2 babies in the house? I can’t wait to read the next book. As always the stories are wonderful. Keep doing what you do. Thank you
No bodies, just good old-fashioned fun and love as the Giller-Sturtz family get together with all their friends and family celebrating the birth of Christ.
