Fresh out of high school, Mario aka Mayhem enters the adult world broke. College isn't an option, so he decides to get a job. Just when Mayhem thinks that no one will hire him, two Russian brothers decide to put him on at their construction company. Mayhem isn't a big fan of the long hours and hard work but he is determined to hang on, until his boss, Adrik offers him the deal of a lifetime. The very life that Mayhem tried to avoid is being placed at his feet, and he isn't sure if he wants to walk away from it. Tia wants to be successful, and unlike the other females in her life, she doesn't want to be a dumb female for the wrong man. Almost daily, she sees the negative effects of a dysfunctional relationship and she tries to steer clear of that. Mayhem wins her over with his charming smile, and his determination to get a job, and build a decent life for himself. When her man starts spoiling her, and coming up, she knows it's not from a job. By this time, she's in love with Mayhem, and not willing to leave him, but the very things she wanted to avoid all seem to come into play as she realizes that she's in love with the city's newest plug.
Mayhem was young, but smart. He knew that he couldn't be in the streets forever. He loved Tia, but he had a problem being faithful. After the back and forth with Mayhem plus the abuse with Quan, Tia was ready to write men off for good. Mayhem changing his life for their baby and after the loss of his closest friend made her realize she would never stop loving him. Great book with great characters.
This was a great read! The drama was nonstop, keeping me hooked from start to finish. I loved how unpredictable the story was—I kept trying to guess what would happen next, but it always managed to surprise me. The twists and turns made it an exciting and engaging read. Definitely one I’d recommend!
I knew this was a re-release as a standalone but it took me awhile to realize that I read it long ago. It was really good and the characters had me interested from the start. Watching Tia and Mayhem mature and become better for each other over time was dope!
Great read. Never disappointed with this author. Mayhem was immature but he was growing into man. He was cheating just to cheat but was as well when she went with Quan. They were still a strong couple once they got it together Enjoyed the standalone..
This book was awesome, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was so glad that Tia decided to give Mayhem another chance. Mayhem was pissing me off cuz he kept messing up. But he finally got it right. Janine pissed me off too. Great job mama! This was fire right here! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
