Devin Grayson is an avid gamer, former acting student, and enthusiastic reader fortunate enough to have turned a lifelong obsession with fictional characters into a dynamic writing career. She has a B.A. from Bard College, where she studied creative writing with novelist Mona Simpson. Best known for her work on the Batman titles for DC Comics, Devin has been a regular writer on Catwoman, Nightwing, and The Titans, and contributed to the award-winning No Man’s Land story arc. With the publication of Batman: Gotham Knights in March of 2000, she became the first (and, sadly, only as of 2020) female to create, launch and write an ongoing Batman title.

Additional career highlights include the launch of the critically acclaimed series Omni for Humanoids, Doctor Strange: The Fate of Dreams, an original novel featuring Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme, and USER—a highly personal three-part, creator-owned miniseries about gender identity and online role-playing, originally published by Vertigo and newly available as a collected edition hardcover through Image. Devin is also the creator of Yelena Belova, a Marvel character staring in the upcoming MCU Black Widow movie (played by Florence Pugh), Damien Darhk, a DC character now appearing regularly in CW’s Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow (played by Neal McDonough), and Catalina Flores, a DC character recently featured as the super-villain Tarantula in The Lego Batman Movie.

Frequently cited for compelling character development and nuanced exploration of complex themes, Devin’s work has been showcased in mainstream media such as USA Today and Working Woman as well as in alternative press such as The Village Voice, The Advocate, and Curve magazine. Over the years, she has written in several different media and genres, from comic books and novels to video game scripts and short essays. She is currently working on an original graphic novel for Berger Books.

Devin lives in Northern California with her husband, step-son, devoted Early Alert Canines Diabetic Alert Dog, and somewhat less devoted cat. Openly bisexual, she is a passionate advocate for the GLBTQ community, as well as being a committed environmentalist, and a public speaker for T1 Diabetes awareness and Diabetic Alert Dogs. She is always happy to take on a new challenge, especially if it involves making some new fictional friends.

Very mixed feelings about this. I like Devin Grayson's narration for Nightwing, she explores some interesting traits about him.

I enjoyed the plot a lot at first, especially when Deathstroke showed up (he's a really good villain and the plot was missing some higher stakes). Unfortunately this was overshadowed a bit by how Devin Grayson writes Babs, which is very OOC. No, Babs is not an irrationally jealous girlfriend who constantly needs validation, it's really annoying and done only for the sake of relationship drama.

So this collection did get canceled...why? Not sure. DC can be idiots. Because this was super fun.

Devin Grayson takes over for Chuck Dixon and I actually really like the start of her run. Dick is focused on being a good police officer while also dealing with regular criminals in his Nightwing uniform. The start is a little rough with Dick running around trying to protect/get a journal from a woman. But once we settle down back into his city, it becomes really fun, even if a little run of the mill and safe.

The issues that excel are the ones focused on Dick being a good person, protecting the ones he loves or closed to, and of course some great fight scenes including a awesome one with Slade himself (Also Cass comes in and gets to be a badass). Also, the art is very cartoony but works well for here.

While not perfect, Devin let's the art flow and gives off great fight scenes while having solid dialogue. I really dug this one. Shame never got printed but can read it all on DC Universe (App for Comics).

why does this volume stop at 83 and there’s this big gap until like 100 ?? anyways since it stops at 83 it cuts before the SA which in the way devin grayson made it happen automatically drops my rating to a 0 so maybe that’s why the rest got cut from this volume …
even if I didn’t know abt what happens catalina is so uncomfortable and creepy in this I hate her ass .. dick and babs were cuties but babs was being weirdly jealous and im blaming it on ykw !

Devin Grayson takes over after Chuck Dixon's seminal run and its not great. She eliminates two of Dick's main antagonists off panel without much fanfare. It seemed like a slight to long time readers. The drama with the police corruption was handled strangely and half these issues felt like filler. I enjoyed the art by Rick Leonardi and Mike Lilly. Overall, this was a repetitive and lackluster book that undoes too much of what was working.

Grayson takes over from Dixon with a strong start; the art from Leonardi brings a breath of fresh air to the series. Her humor works very well and her plots are interesting. Not everything in this series has aged well, but the appearances from other characters were delightful, and it was refreshing to be enjoying the series again, after Dixon's less-than-stellar finish.

I’ll do us all I favor and won’t write an essay about the nature of policing in America in this review. Otherwise, these were halfway decent.
