If you're into Astrology and more specific ways to enhance your life using the power of your Zodiac sign, this is a wonderful book.

I'm already putting into play a few things I've learned about my sign. For example: Leo is a fire sign so a hint to calm anxiety was to focus on a candle flame until it gutters out or stress dissipates. Lots of other ideas like that to incorporate in your life. I think it's going to be immensely helpful.

Maybe I'll come back and update after a few months of trying these methods??

Today I'm reviewing The Little Book of Self-Care for Leo by Constance Stellas.

Generally I like to start out with a disclaimer. I am an contemporary witch. I look for the connection between magic and science without the need to search for a creator. I receive no compensation for these reviews and all my links are standard Amazon links and not affiliate links. I am a practicing photo reader and have spent the last 16 years honing my craft. I offer personal readings by request and have a strong online history that boasts nearly 400,000 views.

As always I'm going to start with a review of the physical book. This is a small hard cover book, perfect size to toss in a bag or backpack. The the cover has a textured finish and is colorful. My copy came with a sticker "not for resale". one of the more annoying aspects of doing book reviews. The inside is printed in red ink and has no illustrations at all. The contents page is six lines long. Yes, I said six, and there is no index.

The author defines for the reader, self care and goes on to break it down into types of self care. Such as physical, emotional, mental and practical just to list a few of the section headers. I enjoyed the section called "What Self-Care Isn't". I think a lot of self proclaimed gurus forget this aspect and many who think they are taking time to careful themselves miss this entirely.

The author writes:

Self-care is restorative. Self-care is clarifying. Self-care is whatever you need to do to make yourself feel secure in the universe.

The section on Governing Elements is incredible. I think that this section is key to fully understanding Chapter 3 which defines the element of fire as it relates to the sign of Leo. Leading directly into the second part of the book which includes self care rituals. These rituals are short, sweet and to the point. One ritual per page, front and back for over 100 pages.

While directed specifically at Leo, the suggestion on page 41 to decorate the house with peacock feathers hit the nail on the head for me. Surround yourself with things that are beautiful and you will feel beautiful.

Overall this is an adorable book that is available in all the signs of the zodiac. This would be a great graduation, birthday or bridal party gift. I highly recommend heading out and grabbing your copy today.

I loved that there were some rituals I never thought of: it was great and made me want to try new things! It was also quite motivating and I felt I had progressed during the year because I already do some of the rituals recommended here! It was quite diversified: some outdoors activities, some indoors ones, some spiritual self-care, and so on!

Little flaws: it was a bit repetitive at some points regarding the explanations for each ritual.

Overall, I had a good time reading this little book!

A really cute little book full of great ideas. Although it has to be said that most of the self-care prompts would be good for anyone, stuff like; take a bath, get a massage, take a vitamin. I liked the astrology summary at the beginning. At a basic level it gave a great overview of the signs and how astrology works.

Initial Thoughts:

The first part of this book talks about self-care and how important it is for all the signs. It talks about how self-care for each sign is different and about their qualities. There were moments I thought “I wish I had this quality” but other times I laughed at because they felt very accurate.

Whenever it spoke about enjoying playing sports or being outdoors I thought it couldn’t be further from the truth however, other moments where I wondered “how does this thing know me so well?”

Of course, some things in here may hit the nail on the head whereas others are off the mark. I imagine your view as to why this is will depend on your view of astrology. Either it’ll be baseless generalisations or based on your full astrological chart. I think I land somewhere in the middle. I love reading about this and find it fascinating however, I’m never sure how much stock I put into it.

I enjoyed reading the self-care ritual suggestions in the second part of this book. It gave me some ideas which I’m really excited to try, or at least come up with a similar alternative which works for me.

Some suggestions, as much as I liked the sound of them, will not work during a pandemic / lockdown unfortunately. However, I’m excited to try some of the others and it gave me ideas I hadn’t previously considered.

So one of my personal goals every year is to get better with self-care. I'm not very good at it, ha. I always tend to take on too much and run myself ragged. I bought this cute little book from a shop in Lake George and thought maybe it would help me out. It offers advice and insight based on your astrological sign (in my case, Leo). It's funny because there are some Leo traits that I definitely have and others that I definitely don't, so some of the advice is good and some of it I would never do lol. But most of the ideas offered are free or low cost, and don't necessarily take up too much time. I will definitely try to incorporate some of the ideas into my self-care practice (which I'm always trying to improve). But apparently, as I learned from this book, that's a big Leo trait -- taking on too much and taking care of others first. If you're into astrology and self-care, pick up one of these books.

What to expect from a generalised astrology book about one's sun sign? I'm a Leo but have a majority of Air placements and this was just a YIKES. Also, why gender a sign based on its qualities? Couldn't she have used gender-neutral pronouns when talking about star signs??? I already don't feel like a Leo don't make me feel even more unworthy of my sign's qualities because I am a woman.

Sparked my love for yoga!
Some good advice, most are repetitive. Some I followed through with, some are reaching too far into this Sun and Lion thing.
Overall, a cutesy lil book. Would make a nice supplimental gift.

If you'd like a deep, meaningful dive into astrology this isn't the book for you. But if you just want a quick, fun read, then I recommend this book. There are a ton of little self care rituals dedicated to the most amazing sign of them all - Leo !
It was also great to be reminded of all of wonderful qualities us Leos posses 😁

Let me start off by saying I have never felt like “a true leo” because the main personality traits a leo is supposed to have (pride, confidence, loves being the center of attention, extraverted, etc.) are literally the opposites of my personality traits. I don’t recognize myself in any zodiac memes or descriptions. This book was more of the same and did not make me feel aligned with my zodiac sign at all (which is what I had hoped it would do).

At times I found the descriptions and self-care practices a little ridiculous. Leo’s were regularly described as ‘royalty’ and given advice based upon that. I just can’t take that sort of stuff seriously. Often throughout the book I thought to myself “are my fellow leo’s really like this?!” and it made me doubt myself even more. I actually do have leo’s in my life that fit the descriptions really well. Therefore this book gave me more insight into their minds instead of my own

I did enjoy this book. However, was a pretty basic book of suggestions that could apply to anyone. The beginning explanation of the signs and further elaboration on Leo was interesting. I did learn a couple things about my sign. This would be a great book for someone just jumping into astrology.

Overall a cute book. The ideas for self care are nice and she goes into detail about the Sun signs and self care in the beginning.
