Is there still time to get down...
...to the Heart of the Matter?

The man all of Boston loves to hate, his beautiful daughter and a sad, lonely biker come together in this explosive tale of secrets and lies, respect, betrayal, and complicated adult relationships.

They all have a lot to learn about love, but first they'll have to learn a lot about each other, and forgiveness.

When Madison first met Lion, the incredibly hot muscular biker, she couldn't deny how badly she wanted him or how strangely connected she felt toward him. But most of all, Madison was unable to deny that he was the most rude, insufferable introvert that she'd ever met, and that he was not at all interested in anything she had to offer.

When Lion met Madison he tried to deny his desire for the doe-eyed beauty, and the strange connection he felt toward her. Lion had spent so much of his life alone. He had lost all the people he'd loved the most and he had no reason to believe that Madison would be any different...especially since she was the daughter of the man who had hurt him most in life, a man he was sure he could never forgive.

Grant “Hawk” Benning gave up one of his kidneys for his daughter when she was two years old. He was at Lion's mother's side the day the boy was born. Hawk loved them both but he lived his life in a way that most people didn't understand, and he found out the hard way that sticking around for either one of them was going to be easier said than done. When Hawk gets a second chance to bond with his daughter, he grasps it with both hands. But secrets from his past and even those in his present just won't stay buried...no matter how hard he tries.

While Lion and Madison grapple with their feelings for each other and Hawk struggles to keep the past at bay, an old enemy returns to stalk Lion and one fateful night will bring twenty-two years of pain, suffering and anger to a head. The fallout will reach far and wide, and it will be one that none of them may survive.

Lion- What another great read by Jessie Cooke!
We really enjoyed this current story as we got to see more of Hawk and got to know Lion all the ore better and we were surprised to see that Hawk was somewhat of a father figure for him most of his life but, most of all how generous and kind he was to Lion and his family even without being involved in their everyday lives for many years to come.

From the previous stories we were already intrigued by the mystery man (Lion) but, after getting to know him this time around we realized a lot of why he is the way he is. The lion is broken and something dark resides within him but, Hawk's daughter Madison is about to change all that.

Madison was a character easy to love as she was kind and loving and beautiful inside and out but, most of all we loved the love that she had for her father and we got to see who Hawk really was beneath the surface and the love for one another was heartfelt and "oh", so precious...

Overall we loved the story from the beginning to end and were glued to the pages to the entire time. The story was heartfelt and heart wrenching
(meaning all Hawk's sacrifices and how it affected Lions life too) but, it was also intriguing and full with a lot of twists and turns and a whole lot of hotness. I am going to admit once the story started coming to a close the tears started falling and I have to say it was a perfect ending and once you read it you will see why.

Hawk's love for his club and Doc and all he believed in and what the club meant to him and stood for defined his life but, in the end, you got to wonder were all those sacrifices worth it? Only Hawk can tell us but, along his journey, he touched many lives along the way and even found a little bit of happiness and found love and found those who loved him in return.

We loved that Madison found Lion and as they had the perfect for one another and it seemed fitting that she would be the one to heal them all...

I fell in love with Lion and Madison and it cemented even further the kind of Hawk is. You can read it as a standalone but I would read the series just so you know the people a little bit more. Madison is Hawks' daughter. She is strong and loves her dad so much. She feels drawn to Lion as soon as she meets him. Lion had a rough upbringing. His father killed his mother when he was young and then he lived with his Me-Maw Kate. He was a troubled youth and bullied on a daily basis. If it wasn't for Hawk Lion would likely be dead or in prison.
When Hawk needed someone to go get his daughter he sends Lion. He trusts him and knows the man he is. With the MC not liking Hawk much, even Lion doesn't like him for what happened back in the day with Doc. Madison doesn't understand why. She can't get any answers and she wants them.
Hawk plays a very integral part in it. Hawk made Lion the man he is today and always looked up to Hawk as a father. Hawk even saw him as a son. Lion keeps to himself and constantly pushes Madison away. Madison can see through him though and she challenges him.
Dax tells Madison the truth about what her dad did for Doc and she in turn feels Lion and Lion's feelings for Hawk change and the truth behind his MeMaw's comes out and justice is served.
The ending had me in tears and I can't wait to see more of Lion and Madison in the future.

One of the best ones in the series!!! This is Lion's and Madison story but it still had a lot of Hawk in it too. It should since Hawk was her Dad and he had also been like a Dad to Lion when he was young.
Lion's memaw raised him after his mother had died when he was a little bit. Hawk helped out until he was @16 yrs old and Hawk had to go away. As soon as he left someone set fire to their house and she died. Hawk wasn't around so he wasn't there to help him so Lion turned against Hawk and because of the reason he left.
After the trouble in the last book with Madison and someone after her she is back in Boston to spend time with her dad. She knows something is wrong but he won't admit it. She still has a thing for Lion but someone is after Lion and he doesn't even know it. That person is now after her.
The last of the book has a sad few moments but I think it also has a lesson. Live each day as if it's your last and don't care of worry what anyone thinks about you as long as you know the truth. Take care of your family and loved ones. If you can't take care of yourself then be the best you can be for someone else as you don't know what else they have going on in their lives. You can make a difference.

This was a good story with quite a lot about Hawk's story too. I thought it flowed nicely from AJ into Hawk then LION. If you want the whole story Lion's story really starts with AJ infact. I re did this review because Amazon is having issues accepting certain words or phrases which perhaps have multiple meanings or contects or relate to the content of the story... some books really have hard topics but it's hard to review without referring to the topics that effect your reading experience... I think this one was a bit of crying but not quite as bad as Hawk, Doc, and Coyote, those three have lots of emotions pulled from the reader. Lion isn't as sad but he does loose his whole family in one way or the other and Hawk looses to his dedication to his friend and MC while kinda loosing the MC too. Lion is one of those greatly affected by Hawks decisions to sacrifice himself... but in Lion you'll eventually learn from Dax the truth... oh and Lion's story includes Hawks daughter... as she loves Lion from the story AJ.

This book just kept hitting me over and over in the feels. Lion had such a hard time growing up and Hawk was a big part of that. When he lost him he felt abandoned then to make it even worse his me maw was killed in a fire.
He has pretty much kept to himself and only steps out of his isolation when Dax needs him.
There have been a few deaths in this series but, I can't lie, this one tore me up. We knew it was coming but we hoped for a different outcome.
I did wish that Lion would have drawn out the revenge he had with Luger though.

All the Fine Men of the Skulls

No one speaks to the heart like Jesse Cooke. These men who lived loved and lost so much truly touched me. From Doc Hawk Dax and Lion whose women loved them the best they could all brought tears of pain joy sorrow and hurt to my mind. How I grieve for their losses but to know Hawk was loved by Lion and truth was made known!!! Thank you Ms Cooke!!! Brilliant

Another tear jerker

I love how Ms Cooke reveals more about the characters throughout the series. Here we learn more about Dax's relationship with Doc and even more about Hawk. The books about the older bikers have been my favorites. This book is a great sequel to Hawk. I highly recommend this one.

(Ridge) Lion

What a life Lion has lived, losing the people he loved most in the world again & again & again he can't let it happen again.
Finding out the truth closes so many doors so he can move on with Maddison which is what he realises he can't fight anymore.

Will be nice to catch up with them in the future books can't wait!!!

This is apparently book twenty eight in this series and the first one that I am reading. However I didn't feel lost but would love to go back and read the other twenty seven of these book. This is the story of Lion and there is a lot to this story that I do not want to give away. But he was raised by his grandmother and this has a huge secret in the reasoning and you have to read to find out. But now he is a grown man and fully patched member of the Skulls MC and a loyal brother to most of the members. He is not a huge talker, does what he is told to do by the President and is not into relationships in any shape form or fashion. However when he meets Madison he can not get her out of his head. But Madison finds him rude and can not figure out why he treats her like the dirt on the bottom of his shoe. But she doesn't know that she is the daughter who is the man who hurt Lion the most in the world. If you love MC romance then this is a great one. There are a lot of characters and I assume they are from past books but I loved this one and was so glad that I got to read it.

A Great Read in this continuing saga series

Here I am along for another rise in the Skulls MC. This is book twenty-eight and damn it this one may be a favorite, along with Hawk and Doc Marshall. This book was so good. I loved Lion and the man he is. The book is well written and the pace is great.

This book is everything. It is told in both Madison and Lion's point of view. We get to hear both their voices. When Hawk needed someone to go get his daughter he sends Lion. He trusts him and knows the man he is. With the MC not liking Hawk much, even Lion doesn't like him for what happened back in the day wit Doc. Madison doesn't understand why. She can't get any answers and she wants them.

Even though this is Lion and Madison’s book Hawk plays a very integral part in it. Hawk made Lion the man he is today and always looked up to Hawk as a father. Hawk even saw him as a son. He was very much the part after the loss of his grandmother in a fire at their cabin. Lion keeps to himself and constantly pushes Madison away. Madison can see through him though and she challenges him.

The book is so good. I loved all the Hawk and Lion moments as well as the Hawk and Madison moments. There is laughter, family, suspense, with some twists and turns and even some tears. Yes, you heard me I shed a few tears at the end. There's love and passion from every angle. This book kept me engaged and I loved every moment of it. Lion’s story will stick with me for a while. With this book series continuing I hope to read a little bit more about Lion and Madison in the future.

Very well done Ms. Cooke.

Lion was a great 5 star read and book 28 in the Skulls MC series.

Lion comes from a very tough childhood. He lost his mother at a young age to his father's hands and grew up with his Me-Maw. Hawk was there to help as much as he could, until one day he wasn’t there, when Lion needed him the most. Hawk had left him alone.

Madison is Hawk’s daughter and she is determined to find out why everyone in the MC hates her dad so much, including Lion. She has a connection with Lion, so he becomes the one who she pursues to get answers. Lion is very honest and straightforward, sort of an a$$ actually but Madison is determined to get answers. Will Madison get the answers she’s looking for? Will she get through LIon’s tough skin?

I really enjoyed Lion and Madion’s story, so much so I think this is in my top 5 favorites in this series. We jump from past to present as Lion has memories from his childhood and get multiple POV between Madison and Lion. All of the secondary characters were great. I had some teary eyed moments as well. I would love to see more from these two “hint hint”. If you're looking for a great series, I highly suggest this one from Jessie Cooke. You can read the books as stand alones but start with book one so you can get to know the whole family.

Another fantastic installment in the Southside Skulls series. I was already ridiculously intrigued by the relationship between Hawk and Lion from our previous books but this book did a stellar job of drawing the reader into their love/hate relationship dynamic.

Lion grew up with a father and after a horrific experience, he lost his mother as well. The only father figure he ever knew (Hawk) left him when he was sixteen with little explanation, beyond convincing Lion that he'd betrayed the Skulls and his best friend, Doc Marshall, the club president. The ever present anger in Lion found a target from that day forward and Lion spent his life hating the man that he felt had turned his back on them all. Hawk is back with the Skulls and despite Lion's willingness to do whatever the club needs, he finds it hard to be around the man; worse yet, Lion can't seem to stay away from Hawk's daughter, either.

Madison doesn't understand why her beloved father is a hated man within the MC and she's desperate for answers. Already attracted to the mystery man, Lion, she seeks her answers from him but comes up shirt every time. Until they find common ground in their attraction to each other. Before long, new information and a new drama presents itself drawing them even closer together.

Eeek, this story was delicious. So many twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes and Maddie and Lion are fire together!

Lion grew up without a father, a horrible experience led him to be raised by his adored grandmother who wasn't in his life long enough. The man he came to depend on ...well, that's an important part of the story you need to read. All grown up he's a fully patched member of the MC and loyal brother of MOST of the members. He doesn't talk much. Does what he's told by the President. He's not into relationships so why does he have trouble getting Madison out of his he head?

Madison wants Lion, or she would if he wasn't so rude. She can't figure out why he treats her the way he does. She's come back to Boston to try to reunite with her father the man who hurt Lion by disappearing from his life when he needed him most. There is no forgiveness especially as secrets come to light. When Lion and Madison begin to examine a possible relationship danger from his past threatens his future. Will he be able to unravel the mess of secrets and enemies?

While there are a lot of characters from previous books in the series, this is about Madison and Lion and their romance, pasts, and presents and can easily be read alone. I have read a number of the books from the series and enjoyed them all—Lion is no exception. I'm ready for more and recommend this to all MC, romance, and intrigue readers.

Love this series of books each one continues into the next,you get to see some of your favorites in each one.

Lion just wants to be left alone just living on the edge of his M/C and living far enough away from everyone.His life has dealt him many heartaches with one man Hawk creating many of them.When Hawk comes to him for a favor to bring his daughter to him,its not something he wants to do but he does' it anyway. Bringing Madison home to her dad opens up all the emotions Lion is not ready for.All Madison wants is to find out why her father is the most hated Man in the M/C and just wants to get to know the man her father is. When no one wants to tell her she turns to the one man who knows it all Lion,she knows that they have a spark and she lets him know that it is there. Lion wants nothing to do with her or telling her about her fathers life.,What he can't see coming is that she is tenacious and won't stop till she gets what she wants.

~~~~~~~~~~Julie's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This book is so explosive, I couldn’t put it down. Lion and Madison have danced around each other for years. Madison’s dad, Hawk, brings them together once more and the sparks fly. Excellent writing. A must read.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~

Lion and Madison were always being thrown together so their attraction kept growing, although Lion keeps fighting his feelings for Madison. Plus, add in the fact that Madison is Hawk's daughter and there is a man with a vendetta against Lion you have a story that is not only explosive in the bedroom but outside as well. I loved this story and the characters are ones I have grown to love in this series. I highly recommend this author and this series. This is one author that knows all the great elements to give her readers an amazing book to read.

Another Hit!!

After reading Hawk's story I couldn't wait to read Lion's and I was thrilled to see how Ms. Cooke played this all out. Lion was always different but then again who wouldn't be by everything he has seen in his young life. It was Hawk who came to love and support Lion from the get go but it was also Hawk that pulled away when Lion needed him most.

Hawk's daughter Madison, was brought to the MC when thought she could be a target. The only person Hawk trusted to get her was Lion. The chemistry was crazy between these two but with Lion losing about every person he ever loved he was wondering how long it would be until Madison left him too.

This book is full of suspense and chemistry. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat...just make sure you have some tissues handy as well. I have become a huge fan of Ms. Cooke's and the guys from Southside Skulls MC!!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I so enjoyed this book!! What made ti even better was that it picked up pretty much where Hawk left off though it can be read as a stand alone for those that are curious though it is so much better if you read them all in order. I was dying to see what happened with Lion and Madison which Cooke was happy to address for us. They have a doozy of a tough time getting together with each of their pasts as well as Hawk butting in every chance he gets. Though the road is rough for them it works out in the end along with the final wrap of Hawk's story which I felt gave him a fitting ending to his story. If you enjoy tough bikers with rough pasts finding the one woman that can tame them you have to try this book/series. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

A definite must read

This was a fantastic story full of heartbreak, grief, hidden emotions, snarky and hilarious banter, angst, drama, mystery, suspense, and intriguing twists and turns. It was a great addition to this awesome series.
I will admit that my review of book #26 mentioned that I was a little upset that we didn't get more of Lion and Madison's story, especially when the next book was Hawk's Early Years story. However, I shouldn't have questioned Ms. Cooke's ability to give her readers exactly what they want, since she did that and more with this terrific book. I'm not great at cliffhangers, or waiting for stories, but I will admit that it was definitely worth it.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

This is the 28th book in this phenomenal series, and this talented author certainly never disappoints her readers! This is Lion and Madison’s story. In previous stories Lion has come across as mysterious and broken, and when he meets Hawk’s daughter Madison, the connection between them is undeniable. But what will happen when the past meets the present? No spoilers, this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed!! This is a beautifully written tale which is an emotional roller coaster, as well as having secrets, lies, betrayal, twists, and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work for all MC loves.

Lion and Madison

What a story, WOW loved it. We get the back story between Hawk and Lion while Lion was growing up. Lion was young when his father killed his mother and then went to live with his Grandmother who she believed in herbs and spirits for healing, and Lion was bullied about it.Hawk was a family friend who took Lion under his wing.
This story is about his and Hawks complicated relationship and he's falling for Hawks daughter and she doesn't understand why the MC has issues with her father.
Great read.

When the past and present meet...

Omg... I love this book. Lion and Madison were meant to be soul mates. While reading AJ and Hawk's stories I kinda figured that and I loved the conclusion of Hawk's story. Hope to see updates about Lion and Madison in future books just like the other Skulls. I really like how you incorporate them from time to time thought out other books. You don't leave us hanging after each epilogue. Thanks again for another great read!!!

Another smashing hit by this author!! I was really looking forward to reading this book after I read Hawk. Lion and Madison have been dancing around each other for years and it took Hawk to get them back together. This is gripping and suspenseful tale that kept me on the edge of my seat. Lion has lost everyone that he has ever loved and he is just waiting for Madison to leave him too. Get your tissues ready because it’s a bumpy ride for Lion and Madison.
