I have not read many books set in Amish country (or whatever it's called) Amish way of living? Anywho I was curious and thought a cozy mystery would be a good way to go. Didn't know what number in a series this was (it was 22) but don't think it was making me enjoy it less then if I had started from the beginning. I loved the characters, the writing and the story was one of the most compelling cozy mysteries I've listened to. The mystery was intriguing as well and I definitely want to try to start from the beginning

Sugar and Spite is a book once you get started reading you won't want to put it down A well written Amish mystery by U.S.A. Today Best Selling Author Samantha Price. Sugar and Spite is book #22 in the Ettie Smith Amish Mysteries Series I very much enjoyed reading this book It is full of twist, turns, and humor along the way This who dunn it will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book I hope you will enjoy as much as I have
I just finished the last available book in the series so far (#22) , and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed them! Most are fairly quick reads, and the elderly quirky Amish sisters were very entertaining.. and often not very Amish acting! Just like Jessica Fletcher, they always seem to stumble upon murdered people, or get involved in murders that happen in their area. The per capita Murder rate around them is pretty unbelievable... but as this is all fiction, it’s ok! The author has created interesting characters and plot lines, and enough suspects are presented that you often don’t know who the murderer is until it is revealed. Yes, there’s some repetition through the books if you read them one after another, but that also enables them to be enjoyed as stand alone books, too. I’m looking forward to book 23!
The beginning of this Ettie Smith mystery is different than previous stories that I found refreshing to read. There are many suspects in this one and I found myself going from one to another. When it was revealed who the murderer is I was surprised that I suspected them early on but dismissed them because it didn't seem plausible. I was even more surprised to find out that I was right about why they did it. There was another added surprise that I don't recall in other books but you will have to read it to find out what it is. As always I loved spending time with Ettie and Elsa May solving another mystery.
I was given an ARC to review giving my honest opinion.
Sugar and spite is book 22, in the Ettie Smith amish mysteries series.
Brunhilde, the owner of the local amish sweet shop, gives Elsa May a dirty scowl. Then Brunhilde gets murdered. Our two elderly amish sisters discover the body. As only these two lovable, would be detectives can, they set about trying to assist the ever patient inspector. Following the leads themselves, and talking with the fellow amish community to get answers.
I love this series by Samantha Price. The characters, even the not so nice ones, have personalities, that seem to be alive.
All of these books are stand alone. I personally, like reading them in order.
Sugar and Spite by Samantha Price Another great Ettie Smith mystery and a totally enjoyable story. I love the Ettie Smith books. What’s not to like about a good mystery? And the bickering between these two elderly sisters just feels like home! A mystery is good when I can’t figure it out and I find myself thinking it through during the day. Sugar and Spite fills both! Who did murder the candy maker? Settle in with this entertaining book and find out!
Sugar and Spite will keep you flipping the pages. Or wearing out the touch screen. Another well written Novel by Samantha Price. This is so good I never figured out who killed Brunhilde. Till it was told who did at the end. I love the sisters. Wonderful characters. Pick up this murder mystery you will love it. 5 Star
The sisters are at it again, but with some more interesting twists and turns. If you have kept up on the series, then you must read this book that is part of it. Elsa-May and her sister Ettie, stumble onto a dead body when they make a trip to town. They don't expect the complicity of what this case brings to them with tons of twists!! Of course, they still have their funny tactics, with all their running and investigating. They bring humor to these cozy mysteries amongst the amish in the most interesting ways. This is another awesome book to read from author, Samantha Price!!
A wonderful non stop book you won't want to put down until it is finished . An Amish version of Murder She Wrote with an additional sister added. A ton of suspects and you won't know who did it clear to the end.
