I knew this was a short book and not a detailed biography yet it was even more simplistic than I expected. Too jumbled and out of order for my liking. Referenced many paintings yet didn’t include them in the book. Many random paintings without explanation . Disappointing at best.

I love the way Frida Kahlo is being depicted in this book. The idea of giving concise information and quoting Kahlo's remarkable words are perfect to explain Kahlo's journey. Not to mention that Forever Frida provides the readers some pictures of Kahlo's painting. Forever Frida is a light reading with good quality of contents.

Way too surface level and timeline was jumpy and confusing

Forever Frida is a beautiful tribute to a groundbreaking artist and person, who showed us how to take each moment as if it were your last, how to be unapologetically yourself and live by bold adventures. Frida has lived such a full life - even though short - surviving and living forever through her art. She had an astounding knack for communicating her experiences and how they sculpted the person she was in her paintings with optimal depth. Passionate love affairs, marriage, heartbreak, tragedy, trauma, loneliness, sexual and emotional expression, health complications, political activism, feminism, communism, miscarriages.... they say pictures speak a thousand words, well her paintings speak a million words. I’ve admired her, her work and most of all her strength, courage and vulnerable demeanor. Forever Frida portrays her spirit perfectly with a combination of facts, stories, Frida’s quotes and pictures of her paintings and artifacts. The combo of things she said and snippets of her life work well in giving the reader a piece of her mind as well as her character and legacy.

Nice quick read

Had a good quirky feel much like Frida. It seemed thin and lacking much substance. I wish it had contained more intimate details of her life and more images of her work. I found myself searching Google to see the specific painting that was being discussed when it would have been much more interesting and convenient to have been right there in the book. I'm familiar with many of Frida's works but I don't always know the names of individual pieces. Overall, it was a nice book.

This books feels like a collection of notecards for a book that skipped from card collection to print without benefit of an editor or organization. If you are in browser mode, this might be an okay choice. There’s a bigger issue her though and that is the judgey way Frida is viewed. There is waaaay too much ‘splaining going on. Who she sleeps with and way is not important to understanding the nature of the amazing talent that was Frida.

I absolutely love Frida Kahlo and this book beautifully depicts her life through letters, pictures, and quotes.

-"Make love, take a bath, make love again."

-"I paint flowers so they will not die."

And my favorite: "It is not worthwhile to leave this world without having had a little fun in life."

Beautiful book. I am very happy with this purchase.
The author had intended the book to read like an open love letter to her memory.
It did that, as well as briefly describe Frida's life and suffering.

I appreciate Frida's talent, as well as emotional strength. She really understood, she was different... but, could be no other way. She was before her time. Her words, resonate and encourage. She wrote, in her diary, "I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you."

The pages of the book contained tones of reds, greens, and marigold...
Lovely, thick stock. It's obvious, this book is result of hard work, admiration, and research.
It also touched on Frida's fantastic fashion sense. Even, when people mocked her for it.
Frida, was unapologetically on all aspects of her life. She did, what she did for both joy & sorrow. And even as she suffered, she painted. Paining was everything. Then love, I suppose.

I thought that Kathy Cano-Murillo's book of collections of things, stories, photos, quotes, and stories given in tribute to the great Frida Kahlo was wonderful to read.
This was for me, like a Frida Kahlo lover and fan excellent to read.
Murillo as an artist and writer herself had clearly done her research when it came to wanting to make this memorable tribute short book to Frida.
If you are a lover of any of Kathy Cano-Murillo's writings or words in her art or crafty-chica books, or an art fan or lover of Frida Kahlo, then I recommend that you get this book to enjoy reading and keeping in your art, artist, or Kahlo collection.

When I am suffering from a lot of pain, Frida Kahlo seems to come up in my mind, her inspiring story. So this is why I picked up the book. I would like to know more about her story, for my own inspiration. It’s actually a pretty good book for a beginner that would like to know more about her, but doesn’t want to go into details. It’s a little bit more of a summary of her life. Though I could definitely find a lot more information from wikipedia or internet than thru this book. But it’s a light read.

The book is okay. Frida Kahlo, on the other hand, is inspiring. I have a lot more to say about her than the book.

The Kindle version is nowhere as interesting to read and look through as the physical copy is.

This is most definitely a coffee table book, or one for those who have already read up on Frida. The book jumps all over the place and it made it a little annoying to read. I wish that the author was able to put the works of art discussed in the book instead of referring to them. I recommend reading the physical copy and not the digital one.

Read this book in a couple of hours. It is a fast read due to the print and number of pages. I especially loved her quotes which I find quite profound. I did pick up some new information about her life. But there is so much more to her. It is a good thing that I have more of her books. More to learn.

I checked this out from Kindle Unlimited. This version was a bunch of disjointed text. It wasn’t until I saw an IG video by the author showing the inside of the hard copy version that I realized I was missing the experience of having text and illustration/photos together. A PDF version would have been a better digital experience.

I bought this an an add-on to make my free shipping minimum from Book Outlet, expecting it to be a sort of gift-type thing. While it is in the style of a mini-coffee table book I was surprised at how much information it had. It would serve as a brief biography for someone who didn't know anything about Frida. Nice little book.

I loved this book. It was full of images of Frida and her family, her work. It included her biography, which is always interesting. It had excerpts of her journals. Frida is an inspiration and this book showed why.

Needs more imagery

This is a very brief overview of Fridas life. I was hoping for more imagery to accompany the short story, which is why I purchased it. Disappointed in the lack thereof.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s simple, yes; however, for me, I now want to read more about Frida Kahlo. I think she was a fabulous artist and fascinating person. I look forward to the next book I read about her.

A beautiful book with photographs, drawings and other “Frida” stuff—like pages from her diary. It’s a hodgepodge of information that comes together nicely to give us an overview of her life, personality and art. I did learn a few new things.

A beautiful coffee-table book. It's about Frida’s bold spirit and herself. The book is also about her legacy in a visually light format.

Graphically very well designed. definitely not an autobiography.

Pretty book, inspired read from watching the movie with Selma Hayak. A preview before going to see the Kahlo exhibit at the De Young SF.
