If your list of "I should be a mom who . . ." feels endless, this book is for you. Many moms feel the pressure and guilt that comes from chasing perfection. The drive for perfection has a significant effect on the relationships moms are trying to nurture in their homes. Amy Rienow offers encouragement and hope to build healthy relationships and feel joy. She writes like a friend reminding moms to embrace each day to make a real heart-connection with their children. Amy's experience as a counselor and mother of seven shines through with honest and practical parenting advice from a biblical perspective.
I really needed this book. It's a different perspective on parenting--in that she encourages a relationship with your child. I needed the reminder that my own expectations and perfect standards can damage my relationship with my children. This is a book I'll keep, highlight and re-read often.
Every Mom book probably resonates with a certain mom more than the rest since we are all so different. This book spoke directly to me where I currently am. Excellent truth. A few points here and there I could quibble over, but that would just be nit picking. Overall a great read and a short, not overwhelming, book.
Good, practical advice for moms on how to get rid of the mom guilt, not get caught up in the busyness of life, and learn to have heart connections with our kids.
Good book if you struggle with perfectionism as a mom. But I think their book Visionary Parenting would be better bc their conference was so good and their book Visionary Marriage was Amazing!!!!
