This book contained some useful beginning information for starting backyard compost. I probably need to find a book more specifically tailored to city gardening and backyard gardening because this primer is very broad and covers a wide range of needs that didn’t apply to my situation. Overall, it’s worth owning on my garden shelf, but I still need more information!
This was very helpful. I don't have a lot of space to work with or even a lot of garden to feed with compost, I'm not willing to spend hundreds of dollars to get up and running. This gave me a nuts and bolts overview of the topic, and an array of ways to get started. I spent about $65 on supplies and now have a pail of compost brewing, a countertop scraps collection device (with filter) and a pail of compost collecting. Easy to use, practical, and helpful.
Short and to the point. A great reminder that compost is as much of an art as it is a science -- and that (almost) no what what you do, you'll end up with compost eventually.
I'm heavily researching composting and this was a good resource. I skimmed over some of the history and the plans to build your own bins but I found it otherwise helpful.
