"Darian was a fantasy, what I had with Wallace was real." Free spirit, Chanel Henderson, has finally found happiness in her first genuine relationship. That euphoria is challenged when her "friendship" with R&B singer, Darian Russell, exposes the cracks in their foundation. Darian Russell is known for his baby-making music and loyalty to remaining a bachelor. After suffering heartbreak early in his career, he vowed never to let another woman get that close to his heart again. Avoiding love had been easy until Chanel Henderson made it impossible. ***This story includes explicit language, strong sexual content, and violence. I like to eat Peanut M&M’s mixed with movie popcorn and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my kryptonite. I enjoy writing stories about flawed women who find their place in the world after overcoming obstacles. I believe strongly that books have the power to heal as much as they entertain.
When I’m not writing, you can find me buried in a book, watching a basketball game, or spending time with my family.
We met Chanel and Darian as supporting characters, and now we have their story. It was great to see how they broke down the walls around the heart of the other.
Book 3 of the Unapologetically Me Series focuses on the situationship between R & B’s Ladies Man, Darian Russell and free spirit, Chanel Henderson. What started out as a one-night fantasy, soon became more...much more. Problem is, they’re both in denial and dealing with baggage that could ultimately destroy them.
If you thought Fatima and Jaren took you on a roller-coaster ride, you better strap on your seat belt and check it twice, because this one is a doozy!
I loved the underlying theme of brotherhood in this book, but was so bothered by Autumn’s behavior toward her so-called best friend, Chanel.
I highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎 book, as well as the series by @dlittlewriter. I promise, you’re going to want to talk about it when you’re done.
The story had many layers and complexities surrounding the main couple. A high profile couple gets caught in a tug of war in their relationship. Having the first part end with an anxious ending will have readers chomping at the bit for more. Wow!
Talk about stressful. Stressed me out and got on my nerves. It’s like if she didn’t have bad luck she didn’t have any at all. I understand why she was the way she was. I do but I wanted to shake her like if you don’t let him love you damn it. I know her intentions were pure but it would drive me crazy.
That ended with a bang! My heart is so torn up for a Chanel. All she’s endured. She is so close to having it all with a man that adores her. I hope Darian can continue breaking through the walls she put up and I hope Wallace gets his karma. Autumn has me really disliking her right now. What is up with her? Can’t wait for part 2!
This, like everything by this author, is a GREAT read. I gave it 4 stars because with the length of the book, I expected a full story, not to be left hanging, without a happily ever after. Now, as I eagerly await part 2, I have to wonder, how much more suffering these characters are going to endure if they have to survive and ENTIRE book.
Whew, just whew. That’s all I have for now. My thoughts, feelings are all over the place. I felt every single emotions this book offered. I’m looking forward to Part 2.
“At the end of the day I was a man, and I did what men do when trying to get a woman out of their head.” Aka an excuse to be a ho 🙄
Ugh. Why couldn’t Darien just leave her lone. The drama she didn’t need in her life. Yes the days were numbered bc Wallace was rightfully jealous. But now she looks like a liar.
I love Chanel she s hilarious. I always thought so even in the other two books; crazy but hilarious. Darien is mad funny too. They work so well together
Autumn was way out of pocket and pissed me off🤬
Di gyal Chanel mad. She went all the way Kingston by herself. She lucky she didn’t get snatch up
Lol Darien’s mom is bugging. Ready to bust out the bubbly 😀🍾
Omg that number fan stage stunt Darien pulled with Chanel. I was cracking up and screaming.👅
Looks like Darien is finally gonna fuck Dorian up. I’m looking forward to it. I just really hope Dorian didn’t set her back emotionally.
Autumn has really been on one. 🖕🏾I hope Chanel doesn’t make up with her. And Fatima has been annoying trying to force the friendship.
I love Richale so much
I love Darien and Chanel relationship. Sure the friend with benefits had some problems but I love how the author transitioned them to something so much more, in such a realistic way. When the things with Dorian’s bitch ass went down and the book was 90+% of the way complete, I realized with great sadness that there would have to be a book two but it wasn’t released yet. It will be torture waiting but I’m so looking forward to it. I absolutely love this series an found a new favorite author to add to my small list
Another great read by Ms. Little. I am fully invested to see where this story goes. Darian and Chanel started off as just an FWB situation but it definitely is not ending that way. It's still a lot of issues that need to be touched and addressed between the two of them. Channel still has to forgive and talk to her mother about the love she shares with her father. She has to heal from all of the hurt in her past as well as present with both rapes. She also has to have a heart to heart with Autumn since she has started to be so disrespectful to her now. The depth of this story and the intelligence of this author is astonishing. I love how she has Darian character making sure all of his "flings" sign NDA, take rapid HIV tests and confiscate their phones. It makes the story more realistic.
I am just as excited about the next installment of this story as I was about Fatima and Jaren (Jericho). I am looking forward to seeing how things pan out and if Darian finally puts two and two together about the rape.
Fantastic read definitely a page-turner. If you have not downloaded this book I highly suggest you do. If you have not read the first love story of Fatima and Jaren I recommend reading that first and you will fall right in line with this story.
Whew, what a read. And I thought Jaren and Fatima's story was emotional. Chanel and Darian have decided to live a no strings attached life after experiencing heartbreak but after years of being that way with each other, true feelings have finally become their reality. You can't help but to root for these two because there connection outside of sex was great. I was happy that Darian was open with Chanel about his feelings for her and it showed he was on the path to moving on from his past hurt. I knew there was a reason behind Chanel's behavior and when she became open with Darian and told her story it was a breakthrough moment that maybe she will have that happily ever after. I hate that once again she experienced the ultimate betrayal and has fallen back into her shell. I hope she gets the help she needs so that she and Darian can get back to where they were. I hope the truth about what Dorian/Wallace did is revealed and his days are numbered. Curious to know what is going on with Autumn and her animosity towards Chanel. This series just keeps getting better and I'm really enjoying these characters. Can't wait to read how things end in book 4 for them.
Moving story of how the turmoil in someone's life can cripple them into thinking they are less than and unworthy to receive love only to have the right person to come along and see their worth and wind up falling in love with them.
What started out as a series of hookups, Darian and Chanel eventually find themselves falling in love with one another. Although unexpected, the love they have for one another changes them for the better. However, Chanel's past life experiences and insecurities often creep in to derail the relationship. Darian's love for Chanel is the catalyst to make sure she heals properly and that she remains in his life.
Darian and Chanel's journey to love is not pretty with everything they face, and the author displays the dynamic of their hurtful past and show the compassion and care they have for one another and the possibility of having a strong, lasting relationship. The supporting characters all add to the story nicely as well.
This story is telling and will definitely leave a lasting impression.
This book took us through an emotional upheaval. The characters from parts 1 and 2 reunite to continue to show us the beauty in these now unified friendships. Yet, we also go through the deepest pitfalls of friendship leaving us stunned at how drastic these bonds changed. Focusing on Chanel, we delve into the life and love of this vivacious yet mysterious character. Chanel is so frustrating that you almost want to throw the book and just give up on her. That is until the source behind her ice queen behavior is revealed. You learn to embrace her and root for her all while hoping and praying she learns to embrace herself. Darian is the resident bad boy but underneath that soulful entertainer demeanor is a sweet, genuine, and gentle-spirited man. Though he has his own set of fears, he never gives up on what he wants and who he loves. We simply fell in love with the gentleness of this character and the sex appeal too! All we can say is Chapter 79! Whew! We can not wait to read more in part 2. Keep them coming!
Lawd, Chanel wore me out. I just want to give her a hug; she really doesn’t know her worth. Darian loved her-flaws and all. I like that we got to see a different side of Darian; he’s not just a ladies man. He’s protective of Chanel and he will drop anything to be with her. I really enjoyed this but man, I wanted to go through my kindle and knock some sense into Chanel. And what was up with Autumn? All of the shade she was throwing was upsetting me. lol. I think the good thing about this series is, each of the characters are flawed and are working on being the best versions of themselves with the help of their friends/loved ones and even counseling. I feel like I could use a person like Richale sometimes lol! Good read!! I really hope Chanel and Darian get it together and hopefully Autumn comes around. ❤️
As I write this review for the third installment of this series I find myself at a loss for words to describe what I just experienced! Just wow!!!!!! Everything that I thought I knew about Chanel and Darian going into this story was either dispelled, or made more clear based on what each had experienced in their past prior to meeting each other. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that this story dealt with so many emotional tests of faith, trust, friendship and love. And I must say that Danesha handled them with the experience of an author who has been in the game for years! Congrats on a job well done Ms. Little, can't wait to see how you wrap this up! I'm confident this couple is in good hands!
This was my first read of Danesha Little’s work. I quickly realized that my need to know everything from the beginning wouldn’t really allow me to enjoy this book, because the action starts immediately with characters that know each other. (They were introduced in a previous set of books that I didn’t read.) Danesha does a great job with introducing the characters albeit a little bit too well for my liking. For instance, there are a few groups of friends and Danesha tells us the first and last name of everyone. For two of the characters, it makes sense given what they’re called in the book, but for everyone else it really stood out. I was really captivated by the story and was glad I was given this book suggestion after both books of the story were available. I couldn’t wait to dive into the next book.
I started a slow read with this book, bc I already knew Ms. Little was gonna take me on an emotional roller coaster. I do not want to give any spoilers, so I’ll just say job well done! But my heart was completely broken by the end of this book.
If you want the happy ending, I suggest waiting until part two comes out so you can read them back to back. The guy wrenching sadness I fell right now, I wish I would’ve waited.
This book was written exceptionally well and I can’t wait for me. I need my heart mended as if I were one of the characters in the book!
I loved the chemistry between Chanel and Darian. From the onset of their relationship it was a palpable chemistry. As the author revealed the layers of these complex characters; I found myself surprised and intrigued. I was literally crying my heart out. I never discuss plot in a review, and I won't start today. 😇 This was a well written, mature, multi layered, emotional, humorous, heartbreaking, PIECE of a journey. I now wait with bated breath for the next installment.
I never write a comment on books, although this was a good read and a good twist on things. I think this book dragged. I don't think a continuation is needed in this book. If you wanted a cliffhanger, you shouldn't or maybe could have had Chanel tell him and the truth and let us think what happens now. I feel like it's too much on this one character. Darian is an amazing man but this could have been completed and we could've moved on to Autumn by now
In Unaplogetically Me, we finally get to meet the real Chanel. Chanel and Darian form a bond that only they can understand. The gang is all back with a few new additions to the friend circle.
Chanel and Darian were supposed to have a one-night-stand. Their one-night-stand turned into over a year of building a friendship. Neither was looking for more, but more happened.
Friendships are tested. Emotions are on a roller coaster. Love is on full display on Unapologetically Me.
I mean it is Danesha Little so I KNEW this was going to be a good book. Danesha seems like she always take me through an emotional roller coaster. I usually have to take a mild break and then come back to it because I feel like I am IN THE BOOK MY FREAKIN SELF!
I gave it 4 stars because it was VERY lengthy. I seem like it was longer than the first book Unapologetically Me. Some parts could have been skipped.
Even through its length I am ready to indulge in the next book. Cause this thang left me hanging and I am feeling some type of way. LOL
Okay so this is my second time reading this series because I wanted to be well versed for What's Best For Me 2. After reading this story again it just made me fall in love with Chanel all over again. She is one of the strongest woman characters I have ever read about. She went through soooooo much and to still smile and make people's days said so much about her. She is so deserving of love and I hope that Darian truly figures out her secret because they are perfect for each other. Now I'm about to read the sequel and I hope it's everything I'm expecting it to be. *fingers crossed*
I enjoyed this story. Reading Chanel &Darien's struggling journey to love really touched me. Chanel had been through so much I her life to finally see her finding love and then have it snatched away by things out of her control was very SAD. I really hope her and Darien work things out . Even though Autumn was being a real witch to Chanel I wonder if there is any hope to repair their friendship. I am deeply curios about the root cause of all Autumn's animosity towards Chanel. On to part two for some answers.
What I liked - Darian and Chanel’s individual journey. They both had some much maturing to do and they were making the steps to own and do it What i disliked - Dorian! Autumn was pushing me too This is a really great book / series. I just got introduce this week and have read the entire series is a few days on little sleep - super engaging. This book is a cliffhanger and I honestly can say I can use the break to pull my emotions in check!
Chanel is so damaged that reading this book was frustrating! The author is dragging this storyline out. There is no need for a part 2, just put us out of our misery with this one. She is so very broken that she’s going to need years of intense therapy and Darian deserves so much more! She could have at least been truthful with him. I thought she was more of a fighter that’s that. Just weak and broken!!!!
I want to be so upset with this book, but I guess you see the 5 stars and you're like how. Lol. I was so mad while reading this book. I laughed. I cried. I wanted to jump in and beat Autumn. I wanted to shake Chanel and then hug her. Fatima is my ace. I really like Darian, but Chanel has made me so angry at the end that, I didn't want to read part 2. But I'm go read it tho, lol. Very good read.
This story was good. I have to start there. I loved Darian. He is the epitome of love. I was so frustrated with Chanel because she continued to push every thing and every one away. It hurts to see someone suffer in silence. I was so not prepared for this book to end on a cliffhanger. Where was the disclaimer.
This book is sooo good. The things Chanel has been through. I feel so sad for her. I really hope she tell Darian what happened. I love them two together. They are meant to be. I hope Dorian gets what's coming to him. Hurry up with pt 2. Chanel needs her happy ending with Darian.
